What about Thomas Jones's prolific rushing against the Saints? He's the one that basically sealed the deal yesterday. Cedric Benson rushed through them like tissue paper, his TD also helped seal the deal.
Grossman was not completely without merit. He put together an excellent drive leading to the Berrian Touchdown. (btw, that had to be one of the greatest TD catches ever. Caught it as he was falling down, and did a backward somersault in to the endzone). The rest of the game he wasn't able to do much, but he's shown that he's capable of making the necessary big plays. If you don't want to look at the Saints game, then look at the Seahawks game.
The Bears have a really good chance at this game. If Grossman can remain consistent, then the game looks to be an offensive showdown.
The Saints were stuffing the run in the first half. Grossman's numbers were pathetic in that first half. He was 3/22 for 37 yds. 30 of the 37 was on one pass play. Toss out that one play and he's 2/21 for 7 yds. Still think he's Sexy Rexy?
I still stand by my statement that it was the defense that took the pressure off Grossman by putting him in great field position. Even tho he couldn't do anything with it, they were usually in field goal position anyway. Besides the Berrian TD, the other TD's were setup by turnovers and good running.
As for the Berrian TD, that was all Berrian and the defender. Grossman threw into a receiver that was covered all the way. He was fortunate that the defender never looked for the ball until it was too late. He gambled and won.
The Bears will win if they continue to "Trent Dilfer" him by limiting his influence on the outcome of the game. In fact they baby him so much that it seems like they even have to tell him how to wipe his ass. He is no field general, that's for sure.
I have seen a couple games this season when he is trying to run a hurry up offense but he wastes so much time because he is clueless on what to do. Good luck if the Bears are down a score with 2 mins left in the game.
At the same time, I kinda want the Bears to win just so Mr. Commercial can go home crying again wondering if he is the next Marino.
