    Err I'm always late...

Meripo is all I really do and is pretty much my favorite thing (if done right). I would rather go MNK, never go RDM, but I usually go BRD cuz these young BRD wagon-hoppers can't be trusted. A veteran BRD shuts them down everytime. I feel like I have to do my part to compete. I can't let my camp get raped. People are so desperate to xp they will go without a bard and thats well and good til (and it WILL happen) some comp shows up (w/BRD) and it's CURTAINS.

It's good to be alittle cocky. All you fellow cocky bards out there know the feeling of getting angry tells from other parties. Remember comment claim lol? 2BRDPT > any comment claim. So anyway, I don't look at meripo as xp/hr I look at it as... "how easily can my party be shut down?" If I get shutdown I guess I deserved it (like MNKs running out BLMs in old school KRT). A good meripo BRD shows no mercy cuz pulling can really be cut-throat. If I can't be shutdown (given the camp is good) then I shouldn't be pressed to get a certain xp/hr as long as I'm having fun. Newer bards learn a hard lesson when trying to compete with vets and that's when that princess stuff wears off. They're not such a hot commodity when they're up against somebody who's really good and makes them look like trash.

And last, my beef is with the bards who are scared to xp without another bard. They can't stand on their own two and they fear the shutdown! "I only do 2BRD parties..." because of this or that (given you're serious about meripo and not just leeching off RL friends/spouse or somethin)... it's just a copp out.

I personally like single brd pts better... keeps me busy and active the entire time.

Getting songs on everyone isn't a big deal with troub/nightingale anyhow

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

From my rdm and brd road to 75 I never refused a party with a pld, unless it was outside circumstances (i.e. I knew that a member in the pt sucked). I still managed to get to 75, and enjoyed doing it. I had some bad pts with nins and good ones with plds, and vise-versa. Always depends on the players rather than the job imo.

I don't mind if a Brd leaves a bad party I'm in. I'll actualy use it as an excuse to leave aswell if it is a really bad one. What gets me is when a Brd turns down a party just because I'm a Pld.

I consider my gear above average and, can mainheal myself as long as I get an added refresh of some kind. Unless I get hit with somthin like Incinerate every ten second. (Thank goodness I'm outa the Magmatic Eruka level range.)

I keep runnin into Bards that flat refuse an invite or worse fake AFK when I invite. Worst one was even in my social LS for cryin out loud.

Then I get an even worse one, just tries to stick me with melee songs even when I have positioned myself for Ballad. If I can tank two Imps at a time you can damn sure get the range on a song right after 70 levels of the job!

In short, I don't give a damn if your a picky bard. But don't go shootin down an invite because it isn't War, War, War, Brd, Brd, Rdm. Had a 10k an hour party with Pld, Rdm, Blm, Thf, Mnk, Mnk. (Mnk don't SC worth a damn with thf by the way. But Howling Fist > Red Lotus Blade > Howling Fist > Shark Bite = Light with a appropriate MB tears things up. ^^)

Heh.. Ninjas get their ass handed to them by Eurikas.

It isn't so bad after getting cure V.. but it is kind of a bad situation to be in as whm when the fight starts off with it getting a crit hit on the nin for 200+ than doing incinerate for 700+.

What am I supposed to do? Cure and die?

Try puks? Lol.. a ninja trying to tank puks is a joke. Without food their DD is horrible and between getting fucked up and spending all their time trying to keep blink up it just blows.

Paladins on both those types of mob get superior exp and with sanction bonus it beats what you would get using a nin in a non TAoU zone.

(On a sidenote, after getting beat up by the euricas we tried going to LoO to fight kitties... oh man too bad the whole place was flooded with RMT parties. What a bad night for exp.. wish we had gotten a pld.)

Their AoEs do tend to eat shadows a lot, but overall they aren't too powerful. They don't have any multihit moves so its mostly AoE you need to watch out for. Still good xp though, and I had a NIN for my Puk parties. Though he ate food. lol

Not exactly a princess bard moment, but some time ago I was in the process of getting smn75 on my brothers account.

I'm sure you all know exping smn in pickups is hell, especially when you near the merit lvl and u will find pretty much 0 lfp brds or rdms and enough whms to pretty much never see an invite till 2008. The "best" parties I had during that time were self made crapholio parties like pld(ls) whm(ls) brd(ls) smn x3 on weapons in ro'maeve when I was smn74 and the rest pretty much 71. I was _that_ desperate.

Eventually when I was about 18k to 75, a mnk from my LS was looking for someone to replace a whm in a krt party and obviously I jumped at the oppertunity even bringing a blm75 to "pl". They were cool about it being the rdm + one of the mnks of the party. Funny enough the brd was (supposedly) whining his ass off that they replaced a whm with a smn in a mnk mnk mnk brd rdm whm(smn later) party. One of the other mnks wasn't pleased either they said, regardless I still came and they didn't warp (thank god). We went to get around 9k/h (guesstimate) which was godly for me on smn. I even dinged 75 with about 9k into the lvl. Now all I need is to cap my exp so I don't delvl and I'm clear to go merit on brd

On another note, I remember one mire party on my smn that I felt so bad about gimping their exp that I changed to brd to make up for wasting their time on my smn.

I havn't touched BRD in a couple months, maybe some of you can tell me where /NIN for BRDs in merits came from? Last I remembered, I was able to pull 20k/hr+ with BRD/WHM + RDM/WHM + 4 DD.

I can see maybe taru's, I'm a hume, so I wouldn't know what its like to die in a couple hits.. but I see all races sub NIN to merits and it makes me angry.

Oh well, Just more reasons for me not to merit outside my LS/Friends. Whenever I need a few quick merits I go duo 9-10k/hr in mire on RDM/WHM+MNK/NIN. Quick and easy exp, close to town, and it pisses off all the lv70 PTs trying to outclaim you for imps.

Because utsu casts in 1-4 seconds, and stoneskin casts in 8?

Assuming you have a good party, you dont have time to do anything else than defend yourself from pulls, and /nin is generally better protection than /whm in merit parties.

Dont be anti /nin just because its cool to be anti /nin. Try it for yourself. I wont sub nin in a random pickup party because quite frankly I dont trust anyone I dont know, but in a party from my LS, I generally wouldnt sub anything else.

I merit on BRD only as I am in GMT and its the only job I'm likely to get a merit pt on at the times I seek ie JP time. JP refuse to take you unless you are either JP or a BRD. When I exp on BRD I always go /whm with my 400 mp to help curing since the healers I seem to end up with suck. If BRDs wanna go /nin for Utsu good for them, I just prefer to go /whm for extra healing power. Oh and I dont even put up stoneskin when I pull (except Skoffins) and use Terra Staff only. So yeah the whole 'you save time casting utsu instead of Stoneskin' is not applicable to me since I don't cast either. Plus I like having the ability to para silena and especially raise since in pick up pts half the moron whms I get never cast RR and then die.

As for exping with PLDs, I don't turn down a PT if offered it especially due to my timezone however if there is a PLD in pt I don't even offer them Ballad. With Sanction autorefresh, PLD autorefresh and Parade Gorget they have no need for Ballad. I give them March and Minuet along with all the other melee. If they wanna exp in a melee burn for uber exp fine but they gotta at least act like a melee and not slow the BRD down. I have done 15k an hr with a PLD in pt in Thickets so its possible to get good exp. I do sometimes exp with PLDs in my ls however they always come /nin and use Hauby, DD gear etc and ask for melee songs instead of Ballad.

BTW the one thing I do hate is when you get invited to pt by a NIN or WAR and you think 'woot' only to see them change job to a DRK, BLM or PLD or something so they can 'get a buffer'. Ie they used their good jobs to lure the BRD into the PT.

Oh really? Care to explain why?
It's genius in its absurdity. It could be the ultimate poster quote for allaKI noobs who consider BG elitists. And because it's funny.

Someone explain to me the mentality of a red mage that refuses to party with a paladin. Unlike some jobs, PLD is joined at the hip to RDM, barring mediocre substitutes for supplying the refresh such as bard and corsair. I can understand not wanting to main heal, but what is there beyond that? Bonus points for not including parade gorget, sanction refresh, or auto-refresh in your logic.

I go /NIN when me and the other BRD (I never merit single BRD. Never.) are feeling lazy(er). One of us pulls (the /NIN one) and the other acts as the 'home BRD' and stays at camp doing ballad, etc. I've yet to be in a party "so good" that I can't cast Cures, Barspells, and -na. It can't happen when you have two BRD pullers.

I go /nin because I don't want to be an MP sink.

And I am too busy pulling the next monster.. Literally Elegy > Minuet > Elegy > March > Elegy > Ballad 2 > Elegy

At times I think I want to upgrade Elegy recast. (if that's even an option?)

The only time I'm an MP sink is, again, when I'm feeling lazy. It doesn't take much effort to pull an extra mob to make time so that I can cast Stoneskin and drop myself a few cures.

And no, Elegy recast is not an option. When I run into a recast issue with Elegy, I pull with Finale.

I wouldn't say I refuse, but to use a party I was in last night for example:

The setup was NIN WAR NIN SMN RDM THF. The THF replaced himself with a BLU, then the NIN tried to pawn off a PLD on us at level 68 in the mire (wasn't my decision to go there). That put it up to 3 people to refresh and 5 people to haste, on top of throwing out the off curaga I/II (Imps are hard as fuck to silence even with Auster's Staff at 69). I don't really have a problem with main healing, but I frankly just didn't feel like dealing with main healing a PLD. However, if I had a BRD in the PT I'd have no problem dropping cure bombs on people.

On my BRD, I don't accept lazy players. I'll kick WAR from PT who don't voke the mobs I am pulling, and generally leave if people want to slack off. I don't spend my time running around like Sailer moon on an eight ball so that some lazy fuckin WAR can sit and mash a rampage macro while jacking off to the latest neko-sentai pr0n.
