    I dont understand why other jobs arent as vocal about insisting on a good party as bards are. When I was exping THF I seeked a lot, but I also turned down parties that didnt meet my standards on how a party should be. You gotta be super picky about jobs/certain people you party with. I liked playing THF, but only in certain set ups. I wanted to enjoy myself while exping; if Im not enjoying myself, then why the fuck am I logged on?

    Fuck the "some exp is better than no exp" state of mind, I hate that bullshit. Id rather not exp at all if I'm not able to pull it in quickly, its just not fun that way.
    I agree, some people dont have time to wait for parties I know, but I do, and as someone pointed out before in all probability my wait will be rewarded. Even for just an hour, one 10k/hr pt and an hour of waiting > one 4k/hr pt where you die twice but start immediately. So ya, everyone has a right to reject crappy invites, but the attitude of some brds is just off the chart. If you were lfp the very least you can do is say 'no' if you dont want to party, but some ppl are too good to even reply, or like to be snotty instead, which is just unfreakincalled for. Takes maybe 10 key strokes to get down the list to {I'm sorry, I'm busy now}, wont kill ya (<3 new emoticons)

    Your attitude is the rarest one I see when I'm on BRD.

    Alreadyinmire >>: pt?
    >> Alreadyinmire: no.
    Alreadyinmire >>: c'mon we just need you to make 6
    >> Alreadyinmire: I'm not up for it.
    Alreadyinmire >>: exp is exp just come!
    >> Alreadyinmire: First off, I've already said no twice. Second, I don't have a search comment saying 'invite me' and my flag isn't up. Finally, mire has 6 merit parties in it.
    Alreadyinmire >>: Fucking elitist pig. Have fun not getting exp.

    Simply saying 'no' has not historically protected me from idiots who just /sea all BRD, find my name, immediately hit ENTER, "pt?" and ENTER again. That's why I often don't respond at all or just go /anon when a shitty invite comes my way. Thoughtless invites are not worth the effort.

    No no. It is even better when you are in a party and people insist that you drop what you are doing to go party with them, them cop and attitude when you don't. I have to lay down the law on someone who was harassing me when I was trying to get a Wyvern Skull for Opo-opo Crown. Things like that are the reason that so many Bards can develop a Prima-Donna attitude, and why people who play support jobs often times develop a hatred for all humans.

    Hehe, I said 'while lfp' ;x anyone who invites someone not seeking for exp/merits at 75 is asking for dissapointment anyway, you can do with them as you please. I stick to {I'm sorry, I'm busy now.} and save my indignation for people who think that despite me having never met them before in my life I will drop what I'm doing and teleport or raise them on whm.

    I've seen this when logging onto bard:

    RandomPerson>> {Party}?
    Welcome to Diabolos.

    Which is a bit disconcerting. Spoiled? Yes. I'm levelling BLM at the moment to see how the "other half" lives on the party-invite front...

    I think that bards have the ability to say "no" to a party invite if they're not actively looking for party. Being able to say "no" isn't a slam on every other job; Sometimes we're not looking for party, we're just going about our daily business online. I know a few hecklers who won't take "no" for an answer, telling me to go /anon... Why should I go /anon in order to avoid invite abuse?

    I just hang around on SMN, it's a much quieter life... apart from bloody Fenrir tells.

    Early 40's as RDM, I had that happen more than once.

    Nowadays, I make sure I frickin' log out /anon. Saves me the frustration of trying to get past "Hello, linkshell" while reading multiple tells from people I have no clue on.

    God yes.

    More importantly, most of those tells are asking if I need Fenrir rather than asking for help, which irritates me to no end.

    Speaking from experience, they probably will. I've been all alone on the top level, and camping down on the ramp towards the Mamook entrance (so that I can pull every Mamool that spawns), and still had to wait for a spawn once or twice.

    On the bottom colibri level, we kept it relatively clear even as a 71-73 party (almostontopic: with a PLD!), let alone when I went there at 75 to merit. More than one party on any given level is not good.

    If you don't have Mary's Horn and exp on Mamools, you're probably not going to be very happy. Oh, you'll still get invited, and you'll do pretty well...but that cheap harp is going to give out on you when you really need it to work.

    It takes no skill to level BRD poorly, just like every other job. A skilled BRD with good equipment will make a noticable difference in your exp/hour over a bad/mediocre BRD, both in the amount of exp you earn and the amount you don't lose by dying. This is especially true at 75.

    That said, it's a sad fact that a mediocre BRD who isn't completely awful can still bump up a party's exp/hour (as opposed to no BRD). So they do still get invited, and continue to embarass those who actually try.

    This is probably going to be taken by someone the wrong way, but for the last few months.. maybe even longer, I have put my party flag up on BRD 0 times. I simply do not Pickup party on BRD, or frankly on any of my 75 jobs. I have a close nit group of friends and I have a good group of friends outside of that.

    The last time I merited BRD in a non-2BRD party was over 3 months ago. It is 100times easier on both BRDs and considering 2 of my closest friends and myself have both BRD and RDM leveled, we alternate the who comes as what each party.

    I leached my way to ~72 on BLM in a static with my friends, mainly consisting of BRD RDM BLM Meleex3 each and every party (Near the end it was allways WAR MNK BRD RDM BLM + Pickup). I got my PLD to 75 long ago.. and all my EXP on PLD is taken from Sea events or random exp scrolls. There have a been a few times were we get together as friends, bring all our "reject exp party" jobs together and cap our buffers.

    Is it wrong of me to ever exp RDM or BRD outside of parties with my cloest friends and/or people I know for sure are not retards? I think not. Is it wrong of me when we are looking for a pickup member if we have exhasted all of our friends/ls's that I go around whitegate spaming /check on the seeking to make sure their gear is decent? I cannot remeber the last time I exped endgame with a DRG PUP BLU and I am sure there is a reason behind it.

    EDIT: I just wanted to add that, I totally am willing to say "no" to anyone that is just randomly inviting me, as I have told above. /sea all BRD or RDM, on seraph and... 90% of the time I am on the first "page" and 90% of that time I am the person on top of the list. I have been sent over 30 tells in a period under 10min and I have on multiple occasions been bitched out by people saying that i should be /anon and I have no right to say no to a party invite... /fume and goes an breaks some heads in. I highly suggest people get together, make some statics and/or make your own parties on jobs that are not as "wanted". I also suggest exploiting some of the other ways to get exp outside of just grinding parties.

    Stingy melee want to go to birds so they can eat cheapkabobs (or nothing at all;;), but I broke 20k/hr on mamools and I love it <3 the biggest problems are the blm being way the hell over to the west, the lurker being an evasive jerk from hell, and melee killing the drgs before they pop wyverns in my experience. I got to chain 40, which was like 3 rounds of pops, with a pickup pt, with a second brd instead of the royal squires pants tabarzin WAR I'm sure we could have gotten 100+ with some effort.

    Would you beleive I still don't own mary's horn? <_<; I sleep stuff with the sandoria CP horn+1 until that gd sheep finally drops or I break down and buy one :< nursemaid's harp for horde lullaby onry because I like the range in dynamis. Otherwise my gear is pretty nice, so my sleeps aren't too bad, but I wont pretend I dont have problems with the blue mamools :/ they seem to have a lot higher CHR.

    Of course if you kill everything as it pops... :3

    Qft regarding bad brds. They're just like crappy players on any job, except they're still better for exp than almost any other choice;;.

    To the OP ^^
    I can't really read everyone’s responses to this because I’m rather short on time. But I’m sure they covered the amount of Cureing it takes for a pld to tank in a ninja, or /nins stead. And I am also sure they covered the amount of damage a ninja can do in an EXP environment being very high. So I won’t dive into that.

    I will say, that personally, if a bard is Burn only all the time, shame on them. Coming from someone who takes bard very seriously, I hold firm that you will forever be at a disadvantage if you want to play bard endgame, and only ever did burns while leveling.

    Yes I love burn parties, what bard doesn’t? But even these days I try to get in at least 2 normal Party setups a month. With a PLD, THF, DRK, BLM, and WHM. This isn’t a punishment or bad karma. It’s a blessing. These party setups have always been the best way for a bard to stay sharp. Hell, I get excited in these parties, and take full advantage of them. I don’t say a word, to them about where they stand, because I like to see what crazy scenario they will give me. Do I gotta wedge my fat Galka between that tree and that wall so I can hit the dark, and the PLD whilst the THF Tricks the pld?! Fun shit I’m telling you.
    I know, I know, it’s so common for people to take bard lightly. People spend very little money on it, and not merit it, even make fun of people who do. But yea, a lot of people just raise bard for the merit PT value.

    Please don't :/ when people make parties they are counting on the people they see seeking to be willing to exp. If I'm on WAR and I see NIN MNK another WAR WHM and BRD seeking, I might grab the nin and the rdm and then invite the brd. If the brd isn't there I've just wasted my own and the other peoples' time, since I probably would have gone and done something else if there was no brd seeking. Afk seeking is something that is *only* done by people who are too lazy to make their own pts and prefer to whine about how hard it is to find one by just lfp, and have never found out how incredibly frustrating it is to find out that someone who claimed they were seeking for a party is really just being a jerk (or alternatively by the kind of people who, if they need a shower, dinner, homework, etc, decide they will do all those things *and exp* at the same time, and end up dying twice because they arent concentrating and making 4k/hr because they spend half the time afk and the pt stalls).

    And I really need to go focus, I'm supposed to be researching virgil's Eclogues' influence on pastoral themes in 17th century french music ><. Please don't pester people who don't want to exp with you, and please dont be a jerk if you want to exp and have high standards, in my experience what goes around comes around, and you never know when someone might level brd to 75 in two and a half weeks <_<.

    People don't read your search comments, even at 75 and meriting.

    I usually have in search whatever event I'm doing. Doesn't stop the flood of people asking me anyways. Or asking me while I'm in a fucking party IN a dynamis zone.

    I've even put
    Code:
    March = 15k Minuet = 20k
    Ballad = 20k Elegy/Lullaby = 10k
    Prices Per song, no negotations
    Lower the amounts of party invites, but still doesn't stop them.

    As a RDM, I very rarely pull out the "princess" attitude. And to be honest, I wish I did it more often, because often it ends up with me getting shitty exp only because I try too hard to be the nice guy.

    You can only be the nice guy for so long though, before your head explodes. I feel like it is the responsibility of the RDM or BRD to say "Hey, this setup sucks, you guys need to rethink your strategy here."

    So, yeah, I don't TP-burn with those "other" jobs anymore unless they're in my LS. And even then, they had better have some sense as to what they are doing and be able to contribute their fair share (for example no PLD/WAR in VIT/Def gear, god damn).

    I love it when I'm LFG on WAR ppl (not even ppl in my LS) ask me to xp w/ BRD or RDM.

    If I'm on BRD seeking, I want to merit pt. > >;;
