Just get a low-level spell and blam some easy mobs to protect break them. It's not too hard to get the lower virus cores that way.

either way, it wasnt nessacery. i remember i probably spent like 20-30 minutes farming up the cores for a gate hack, then getting one again with like just as many that blew asshole. After i realized it was a pattern that wasnt gonna break i just started again =x was actually more fun to just play through again and megafarm cores tbh

Well thankfully they wisened up and they dont need you to use virus cores for gate hacking. You can hack into the Signs into some weird as place, and in the new ones you use virus cores to power up your "relic" weapon.
