Paypal Concern

So I sold something on ebay, and this guy paid through paypal and I got this message with the email.
1) It came from mailto:[email protected]
2) It said this: Note:This PayPal®payment has been deducted from the buyer's account and has been "APPROVED" but will not be credited to your account until the shipment tracking number is sent to our customers service for shipment verification so as to secure both the seller and the buyer.

The guy has a -4 rating on ebay, and I have told him I will not send out anything until I have the money in hand.. but this really worries me.

Also, it had this link in the email "https://www.paypal.com/us/" which I guess is the real paypal link, and I logged in there, but now I'm worried he may have my log-in Information.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks much.

Don't send unless you get paid, that simple.

Also, go to http://www.paypal.com (type it out) and log in and change your password just in case.

After that, if he doesn't pay just report him to ebay and relist.

As above poster said - DO NOT send anything, EVER, unless you have the payment showing as COMPLETE on your Paypal transaction history, from manual entry of http://www.paypal.com. If the status of the payment does not show the payment at all, or pending then don't accept it. Remember you have to accept a transaction on Paypal once a payment has been sent before it can be completed.

Have a browse in ebays community forums - there's dozens of stories of people saying they require tracking number before goods are shipped. Betting your buyer is in Singapore or similar.

Personally, with Paypal (and I state this in my description) I will not ship out an item over $50 until I have the funds transferred from Paypal to my bank account/Credit Card.

Even then... once I sold something, and the guy paid for it... a few weeks later, he messaged paypal and asked them to put a hold on my account (which put my paypal account in a minus, because I don't usually keep money on it), claiming that he never received the goods (even though he clearly did...)

Of course after I gave the tracking number paypal released my account and the minus was gone, but those were a couple of extremely annoying days.

Don't ever send unless the person has a certified and verified paypal account, and it says it is complete (that way, he can't retract it whenver he damn pleases.)

Yea.. the guy emailed me back saying that paypal recently changed their policies "this month" that you have to send the shipment confirmation number before the money was in your account. I was like Um.. I never heard of that but because of you're -4 feedback ebay rating I am not sending until I get the money in my account.
And then paypal has this thing that you can forward suspected fake emails to mailto:[email protected] so I forward that email there, and they were like yea this was not sent by paypal so change your PW and Security Questions pronto. So I did that.
If I get the money obviously I'll send it, but I suspect this guy never had the idea of sending the money, and just was fucking with me to get my info. I am pissed though because my listing costed fucking 10 dollars on ebay. Is there some way I can show that this guy screwed me over and I don't have to swallow that 10 dollar charge?

And that guy is BSing, don't send until you see his (CONFIRMED!) account sent you the money, and it states that it is "complete" in the transaction chart on your main paypal account page.

I personally never had anything like that happen so I don't really know if that is possible... I guess you should just contact them and ask what your options are in the case that this person doesn't want to pay... maybe Ebay automatically sends an email to the 2nd highest bidder asking if he is still interested in the item or whatever?

It's best to consult Ebay, but first give that guy a chance and see if he actually pays first.

eBay will suspend the user and refund your listing fee's.

For additional prevention in the future, you can change your listing option so that a user has to have a minimum number of positive feedbacks before they are able to bid. Also generally you can contact the next bidder if you had more than one and offer a 'second chance offer' at their bid.

EDIT: If the user is already suspended/terminated by the time you log your listing breach, your refund should be instantly automatic.

The fun I had when I sold a Sony laptop with a dodgy bidder ... lol

It's weird though, because I called them and they told me that they don't do that a few weeks ago... then again, maybe I just talked to some lowly faggot sitting next to the phone getting random calls all day long and he was just pissed...
