NOTE: PS3TM system software 1.31 or later is required to perform this operation.
1. Install the PlayOnline™ Viewer
Insert the PlayOnline™ Viewer and Tetra Master® PlayStation®2 format disc that accompanies Final Fantasy®XI in the PS3™ system, and then select the disc icon.
As of December 13, 2006, PlayStation®2 format software titles that must be installed on the hard disk to play on the PS3™ system are the following:

If you have not created a game partition for Final Fantasy®XI, you will be asked whether you want to create the partition or not. Select [Yes] to create the partition. The partition requires 10 GB of free space on the hard disk and takes about 10 minutes to create.
When the partition has been created, the disc will be loaded. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the PlayOnline™ Viewer. For details on the installation process, refer to the software manual supplied with Final Fantasy®XI.
2. Install Final Fantasy®XI
For details on the installation process, refer to the software manual supplied with Final Fantasy®XI. Depending on the product in use, you may need to switch discs during the installation process.
3. Quit the game
When the installation of Final Fantasy®XI has completed, press and hold down the PS button to quit the game. Display the XMB home menu and find an icon labeled "FINAL FANTASY XI" under the Game icon. You no longer need the game disc to start the game.
4. Start PlayOnline™ Viewer and Final Fantasy®XI
If you select the FINAL FANTASY XI icon and press the X button, the PlayOnline™ Viewer will start and you can then select Final Fantasy®XI and begin play. (PlayOnline™ Viewer and Final Fantasy®XI will be updated as necessary.)
