FFXI on PS3...does it work?

it's still looks like shit after the 1.5update? After they say the video for ps1 and ps2 games are fix?

I have FFXI on my PS3 HDD and the game looks exactly the same as the PS2 HDD, and yes this is after the firmware update today that fixed some issues with PS2 games.

In short, it looks pretty bad, but playable if you could stand playing it on the PS2 to begin with. If you want to play FFXI in all its high res glory, you'll need the PC version or the Xbox360 version. Be warned though, the Xbox360 version seems to be vanishing from store shelves everywhere.

Old news yeah... but whenever i bazaar on my PS2 after playing on my 360 i just can't fathom how i played on the PS2 for a year and a half.

I'm gonna go ahead and blaspheme. I played FFXI on PS2 for about 2 years, even played on PC a couple times. I did and still do prefer the PS2 version, despite the not-so-great graphics

(my PC doesn't run FFXI, so I never had a choice, either)

There is no Region Coding on the PS3.
You can buy games from Japan and use them on US PS3.

Just when you get the PS3 and get it set-up, before you start downloading the cool free demos, or bring movies/songs/picture, just Partiton 10GB of the 60GB HDD for the FFXI (Download the PS2 8MB program from the store)

It's going to look worse on PS3 than it does on PS2.

After seeing how it looks on PS2, I'd just stick to playing it on there... I can't imagine how much worse it could get as it is.

No. Only PS3 games are region free. PS2 and PS1 games are still region locked.
