I think alot of gay guys act that way because as a whole, gay men DO act that way. There's a reason that sterotypes exist. They're based on a characteristic that a majority of that group either have, or have had.

They do it to fit in I think. They are, by deffinition, already apart from the other 90% of men in the world. And as we know, people don't like to think for themselves. They see the group they're trying to identify with act a certain way, and it's natural for them to try to conform to be accepted as one of the group.

Carbon put it pretty well. I can't stand guys who "flame" either. I had a best friend @ the start of college. Great guy, liked video games, masculine, normal, average. He had just come out, and I was his first gay friend. As he started meeting more and mroe gay guys, and doing things with them, he fagged out. Started lisping, his voice got higher, he started wearing flamboyant clothes, and wearing obnoxious amounts of accessories and suddendly caring that my shoes didn't match my shirt.

I stopped associating with him. He didn't, and still dosen't understand why.

As for the women hitting on you, any moderatelly attractive gay guy is going to have this happen to them. We're generally (lol styerotype) more articulate and considerate than you're average guy, and women (lol sterotype) like that. They identify with us on one level, and yet at the same time, many of them are irresistably drawn to the challenge of "converting" us. I've had girls go after me hard core, only AFTER learning I was gay.
