To you ? mabey to me no (I know MANY others feel this way)... it was far from the best of the era... I played many games I felt had much more flushed out characters and story.

The general sensus says Final Fantasy XII is an outstanding game. If you enjoy RPGs and also think it sucked, you are of the minority. Suck it up.

FFXII was a good game, there's no doubt about that. But it had its downfalls, and people that get pissed when others don't name it the best FF ever need to get over it. I can name many amazingly great things about 12, but I can also list alot of things that I really didn't like about it.

However this topic is about the ending. And the ending, was suuuuuuperb.

FF12 was ok, I just wish they delved more into each characters past.

    Ending was meh.

Also during the credits I saw a concept art of a Balthier/Cid looking guy holding a kid.

Possibly refering to Balthier and Fran? Or it just could be Cid holding Balthier :c

It was Cid holding his son, Balthier. I'm like 99% sure.

    lol

Yea, it was Cid + Balthier. I'm pretty sure Balthier loved his dad a lot prior to whatever incident happened in the Jagd that made Cid come into contact with Venat.

I also think the fact that Bahamut (or rather, his likeness) wsas the final boss was uber cool, considering the amount of effort they poured into this game to separate it from normal FF mythology.

I guess in a way "The Undying" did resemble Bahamut, but what I saw was another 'angelic end boss,' like kefka/sephiroth/kuja(I think?). What makes you think they were trying to seperate FFXII? What is the normal FF mythology? Cid and Chocobos were in the game. The summons we normally see weren't there, but they were given their nod as being the namesakes of all the ships.

Of the espers, Velius, Hashalm, Ultima and Cuchulainn at the very least were all present in FFT, as well (under the name 'lucavi' as Belias, Hashmalum, Altima, and Queklain).

Zodiac, Zalera and Adremelk are in there, too, from checking I did. I guess all the FFXII espers are.

In a way? It had at least one -Flare (Tera), and I think it might have used Mega- or Giga- too, and it looked like a robot Bahamut.

It uses Megaflare, Gigaflare Sword and Teraflare, the the piece of metal sitting on top of Vayne's head resembles the head of a dragon.

    Definitely Bahamut-esque material.

my only real issue with this game is that there was such depth to the story for the first 2/3 of the game and that just disapeared into a big we have to go here, now we have to go here...

I just never felt any real urgency to the last third of the story.

Idk i still think 6 has the best ending out of all FF's thought the ending could of been alot better than what it was.

It's been so long that all I remember of FFVI's ending is the apple and the shuriken materializing in it at some point. Regardless, I dug the ending of XII. It's nice knowing Balthier and Fran are still out there, and that there's some possibility of Ashe and Basch hooking up in some way (I think that's what was hinted at there?).

Oddly enough, that is exactly how I felt about Chrono Cross the first time I played it.

same, the first part of CC was AMAZING, but as soon as Harle Quin left, and Kidd was no longer there, it just went downhill. Still loved that game though.

yeah, I just couldn't get into CC no matter how much I tried. It was too colorful and zany or something... or maybe just 40 characters and 0 good characters just isn't a good formula.

Yeah, I didn't like the fact that there were 50 or some odd characters. It kinda removed some key elements in a story. I didn't even end up using anyone other then Serge / Kid / Norris, either.
