I'd kill to play the part of Venat throughout Ivalice's history. That could be cool on a scale never before realized. If they made such a game as Quicklet suggests, of course they'd have to clear up the confusion regarding the worlds of FFT/FFXII, whether they are the same or not, and which time periods they are in relative to each other.

A friend of mine mentioned he had heard that FFT was very far in the future from FFXII, but didn't have any documentation. He's not one to spread base rumors, but still, a salt-shaker should be equipped when considering this.

in the Bestiary about Magic Jar, there's suppose to be something which dates St. Ajora. FFT also dates St. Ajora in some way.

supposedly the official Japanese strategy guide puts it on the same timeline but contradicts what's on the Bestiary.

yeah, you can see the SE timeline taken from their Ultimania guide if you look at the Ivalice entry on Wikipedia.

Basically it's shown that both worlds have an Ajora in their history, as well as the Kiltia religion, but other facts crop up that prevent anyone from being able to nail down the exact. I can't say exactly what, lol, looking at the thing, but I've seen some discussion about it at gamefaqs.

You can check this page out, too (Japanese): http://www.geocities.jp/sagablack/Ivalice.html

The wiki entry is quite nice. Here's the timeline from the Ultimania guide, translated.

What's more interesting to me is that it seems Vagrant Story, which I just started playing, is also set in Ivalice. This is probably OFN, but new to me.

the narrator for Vagrant Story is a descendent of Cid's adopted son Olan.

I love how Balthier says "Venat"... oh oh, and I actually liked the ending, I dunno why so many people are hating on it. I mean, zomg!!!!!!no love storyz!!!!!!!, I actually liked it better that way...FF12 took more of a serious turn, which I think was for the best after GD Tidus.

Gabranth's VO (Michael Rodgers I think) is fucking awesome too... "Judge Magistah!"

Most, if not all, the VAs in FF12 were outstanding.

This is something I noticed, possibly because I played FFX / DQ8 / FFXII all within relatively short periods to each other (within a few months): VA quality has a LOT to do with how well the designers of the game pace dialogue.

In DQ8, voice acting is TERRIBLE because you have to push a button to advance dialogue so often. What results is very broken voice acting. I also blame the fact that everyone in that game has a goddamn Australian accent.

In FFX, the voice acting is better than DQ8 but it's so forced to fit in with the dialogue timing in so many instances. Auron is probably one of the better ones, but Tidus/Yuna/Rikku(lol) all could've used so much improvement. For professional VAs, it's disappointing too.

IMO one of the best features about FFXII and one that makes the voice acting so great is that the cutscenes are not player-advanced whatsoever. From the beginning of a cutscene to the end of the cutscene, the dialogue goes on at the pace it was designed for, and there's no abruptness to it at all. Combine that with the fact that you can skip practically any cutscene and you have an amazingly good end result.

It's too bad the entire game wasn't like Pharos/Bahamut, because I enjoyed those two dungeons immensely (it's probably mainly because of the heavy storyline that was told during these parts, but still.) Like that 5+ minute HQ CGI that showed the entire battle taking place, it was amazing.

And I agree, FF12 probably has one of the better VAs in a video game, even though the quality could've been better and sounded that way due to compressing, but it was still an amazing job nonetheless. (Oh yeah, and Vaan wasn't a total clown/ass/fruit like in previous FFs, yay!)

Quality of VA was really awesome in FFXII, definitively one of the best, if not the best. Only other game I can think off with awesome VA for everyone is MGS2-3.

Good VA also have a lot to do with script quality I guess. So many RPG have forced dialogue there is no way to make them sound good.

I must say, some of Reddas' dialog was a bit awkward and sounded scripted because of some of the ridiculously dead phrasing and words he used. But I still loved the man, and his amazing pink pants and COR/NIN job.

Hearing the amazing voice acting in FFXII makes me depressed that the style of english they use is virtually dead in modern society. If you phrased something in 'reverse' like Fran does, it sounds cool and unique, but everyone will think "Yoda" and you will be a fat geek.

Quick question - was anyone disappointed about the lack of a clip or movie after the end credits had rolled? I seem to remember such a clip from FF7 (Red XII/Midgar), 8 (Squall/Rinoa kissing), 9 (Zidane's still alive, lol!), X (Tidus's still alive, lol!), and the perfect ending from X-2.

Or was there another clip, and I just, somehow, missed it?

That was the ending, before the credits.

At least we had the Blackjack game at the end of IX.

Is there anything at the end of the credits for XII? Is anyone disappointed by the lack of something?

if you wait a little bit after the credits it rolls back to the intro clips as if you reset the game.

i don't care where they place stuff, there doesn't need to be something after the credits if the stuff before it was good.

I definitely agree with you Sendoh, I'm guessing that personally I was disappointed with the lack of Balthier in the final clips (who'd have guessed?), especially since the heart-wrenching final moments where it looked like he was going to sacrifice his life for Rabanastre. I felt like a little something extra at the end would have been great, i.e. Balthier dropping a great one-liner at us, or something written by the Marquis... does anyone agree?

    Two more things:

    1. Does anyone think that there should have been some homage to the writings of the Marquis Ondore, like there was throughout the earlier parts of the game? Like some end of his novel, or chapter?

    2. Oh man, did anyone else feel like their heart was in their throat when they realized Balthier was on the Bahamut? And would anyone agree that it would have been a tragic and very memorable ending if Balthier had died?
