Salvage Gears anyone?

Not exactly hard to gear up THF well enough to parse a 1000+ WS average on Colibri (a little less @ mamools). The only beef I have with my THF setup is my accuracy sits at 75%, while I'd like to see 80-85% on Colibri (with Madrigal). However, since I don't do Limbus and have no access to Homam, I have to stick with and rely on Skadi.

Saying a normal THF uses xbow over another ranged item, as well as Homam legs is just silly. Xbow is very situational depending on what you're fighting, and Skadi legs are unquestionally better and quite easy to obtain.

Bleh, though, I'm gonna have to start doing Limbus soon for Homam hands and possibly feet since I'm planning to probably upgrade Mandau soon. <_< (Still deciding on my relic )

i got skadi legs after 1 year of madame mystery + 35 drop rate

skadi >>>>> homam yes

Skadi easy to obtain: not really (easy pop and kill, but not every tom dick or harry got the same luck as us)

i'll still say homam legs are the norm over skadi legs anyday

i've seen 7812683765312875312 people with homam and only a handful with skadi legs

I use bloody bolts to pull in Dynamis, acid/bloody bolts in Salvage, and several bolts while soloing. Otherwise, it's an attack ranged piece because the bolt won't be of enough benefit to be worth shooting. Exclusions include mobs that take longer, for example in dynamis on demons or fomors.

Also, as puller in Dynamis I often go from capped exp to delevel in just over a month, so it's necessary to "merit" on THF sometimes.

There are a lot of situations where bolts are useless, and it's pretty gimp to not have a good ranged piece to put in the slot when you can't shoot things.

I say Skadi Legs are easier to get because Omega is difficult to kill with 6-8 people, whereas all the steps towards Skadi Chausses are doable with this amount, and it's not very hard. The drop rate on the 35 frog is actually quite decent.

Consider the following:

8 people who can kill Omega. They can probably do dual runs, so they'll take 2 rounds of Limbus to get their chips, and then 1 to fight Omega. He drops 2 random head/hands/legs/feet pieces at equal rates. The chance of seeing at least one legs is 7/16 (~43.75%). The chance of seeing at least one legs in 2 Omegas would be ~68% or so, if I'm doing this right. So about 2/3. This would be over a 3 week period.

If you take those same 8 people, and kill the 5FN Madame every day until it drops the legs, then kill Arrapago boss every day until it drops the legs, and then squeeze in 1 Bhaflau run for the lv15, I would bet that you'd have yourself a pair of Skadi's Chausses by the end of that. We don't know the exact drop rates, but I'm sure the chance would be something slightly higher than 68%, or at least close to it.

You can't really include the period of just under a year before they were discovered, for obvious reasons.


And I thought about Apocalypse, but my DRK is lv4 and I'm not sure it's on my leveling list anytime soon.

Our group went 6 omegas without seeing any homam legs drop :/ It's all luck really. Omega loves to drop the headpiece almost every kill, which is kind of a smack in the face. (Though, we did get 2 leg last night >.> I think we all fell out of our chairs!)

If you're pulling in a merit pt on THF you have other issues to worry about. If you're concerned with pulling in dynamis with acid bolts there really is no point. In most cases you'll be pulling statues. Also, if you really wanna use xbow effectively on THF you have to carry a lot of extra gear(r.acc). Even with 70 spaces, if your THF is decent you wouldn't have the room.

The Skadi Legs and Usukane Legs are common for us... In 26 Archaic Chariot kills, we've got 6 Usukane Legs, and in 18 Madame 5FN, we've got 4 Skadi Legs. One of which went free lotted to my 68 COR.

So really, for my shells, neither of those are hard to get at all... 38% total drop rate on Archaic Chariot and 27,7% on 5FN Madame.

On the other hand, I got my Homam Legs several months before Salvage were even released. So I dunno if I'd have got 3 Homam Legs or not in that time. I do know my THF's are quite happy. Khajit being one of them, and Mdkuser being the other. Although he plays MNK mostly.

I would like to know your magical method for maintaining a buffer that negates all need for all non cannon jobs that cant solo 10k+ per hour to merit since apparently doing anything at 75 THF that gives you exp with a full party and not half assing it is a sin against nature. I've not even had WOTG for a week so the campaign option wasn't even on the table until just now. Why cant I gear up a job the best I can even if it isn't a cannon job?
and yes i do merit on thf.. and war and nin. I pick whichever one I feel like or is asked of me depending on the mood. Theres no law saying I cant and I'm quite sure that I'm going to out damage the other DD or at least keep up if I'm on whatever job I'm playing anyway whether or not I'm at colibri outside of rare occurrences like BB mnks and ebody/ridill monsters. I wont expect a fast invite on thf but anyone too retarded to read my search comment saying I have war thf and nin 75 with maxed merits on all but war is probably too stupid to merit with anyway if they don't realize I'm farming while lfp.
BTW: I do own an Xbow. I just leave it in the locker unless I'm going to need it for invo+2-5.

Xbow has one purpose which is soloing. I have a Ziska and hardly ever use, 90% of the time I'm using full DD setup because like someone else said THF pulling in anything outside Salvage or Dynamis is just stupid. I'm also always 66/70 on spaces... TP/WS/EVA/R.ACC setups ftl

Meh, THF pulling in Salvage is unnecessary. I just have the RDM pull 'em, gives the THF time to melee for extra damage. Lamiabane ftw.
