Recourse for banned accounts

I'm sure 99 out of 100 responses to this will be that he's fucked, but if there's 1 useful response out of 100 I'll be satisfied.

Long story short, guy on my server (and his sister) got banned today. They had loaned their account info to someone they knew while they were away. Talking about how you shouldn't loan out your account info, btw, is unnecessary. I think we are all aware of that, and besides... it's so 2005. Anyway, that guy used 3rd party tools from the account, and the account and all accounts on the same credit card (including her brother who did nothing) were banned.

Is there any recourse here? I remember a long time ago there was a case where someone got banned and he ended up contacting some dude out of Los Angeles who was liek their Public Relations guy or some shit? What happened with that? Anyone still have that guy's contact info lying around somewhere? I also see Lujan still posting on here sometimes, which leads me to believe you're still playing. If you're reading this did you get your account back? How?

So far all signs point to fucked, as GM in game did nothing and POL support did nothing. How do you get higher? Higher as in past the SGMs, past the customer support faggots, to someone who has the authority to listen to shit instead of just saying "Is there anything else I can help you with today?"

I don't know. TBH I don't even know the guy it happened to, just seen him around and feel like it's my duty to step up when the so called Justice system fails.

When these monthly bansticks happen though, aren't they always perma? They both had clean records, if that makes a difference.

I fail to see why there should be any recourse. If the account was lent out... and the person who it was lent too fucked up... then well.. its not SE's fault. The person should take out their anger on that person.

But you're entirely deserving of this if you let anyone else know your account info.

My golden rule, only let fucking people know it if you are within driving distance of beating the fucking shit out of them. (Know them in person)

What is their purpose in banning accounts? Is it to remove "tained" accounts from the system? If so, then sure there should be no recourse. But you and I would both agree that the account doesn't have a mind of its own, it's only as tained as the person controlling it. The reason they're taking a hard stance on 3rd party tools is to reduce the usage of 3rd party tools in the world. In this case, banning the account did not reduce the usage of 3rd party tools, because they banned a non-3rd party tool user.

I'm not trying to say what they are, I'm just answering your question. There is very little you can do to fight SE's bullshit. When they ban you, if you call what you're going to get is as close to flipping the bird over the phone as humanly possible from them :/

Not much one can do aside from contact SE through their customer service routes (email or phone) and plead your case.

Aside from that not much you can do, maybe take them to court? but whos gonna do that over a video game discrepancy(especially one where the client broke the rules)

A friend on Team Speak earlier was saying how one of his friends had an account that they sold to a RMT, and before he sold it several other people had used the account and that the 3 pepole who had previously paid for the character on their card were all banned. No conformation yet on whether or not this is true yet though.

If I remember correctly, that person's situation was much more complicated than it may seem. In either case I don't think the severity of your friend's situation would be comparable to it.

I don't remember exactly what happened but a GM banned him thinking he was a fish bot when he didn't respond to the GM's /say. Somehow, this disorder that the person had prevented him from answering the GM at that time, and the GM put him in jail for it. When he tried to explain his disorder to the GM, the GM called bullshit and banned him.

The person later got his lawyer in action or something and threatened SE with law suits or, whatever... Eventually SE apologized and reactivated the account, and apparently fired the GM too.

I really have no idea what the specifics were and I'm certain I butchered the story to hell... All I know is the jist of it seeing as this was over a year ago or so.

Sorry though, I don't think your friends will have a chance.

any friend you know in person wouldn't jeopardise a friendship over a fucking video game.

know them in person doesn't necessarily imply its a friend...but you'd hope so if you're trusting them with that kind of info, which i wouldn't do anyways... i wouldn't even let my old roommate who plays ffxi know my account info or even use my char

If you got a previous ban (so u cant use again the same CC) and u get a new CC with a different number but the same name, could your new account be banned for suspictions cause ur name was linked to a previous banned account?

This happened to a girlffriend and boyfriend. They both had there accounts on a "friends" CC. Anyways, the friend was caught using 3rd party software and the couple's accounts got banned as well. The couple tried dto get there accounts back, but the LD calls starting to rack up calling the US. It suxs, no one has heard anything of the couple, rumored they broke up and she moved back to Germany from Amsterdam. We miss ya Sopethia!

Oh, rumour has it the person who was banned for using bots to claim KA, has recently spent in the thousands to obtain several new accounts on Odin. One of the accounts has 4-5 level 100 crafts.
