i think nintendo has something interesting going with the wii but now we have to see if they are smart and give better support to the third party developers. if they do this and the wii gets more original games and they dont just count on their franchise games then the wii could hold its own and stay up there. overall it will be a very close race much more so than the previous years (xbox, GC, ps2).
i dont think the ps3 will ever catch up to the xbox360 simply because the time and money it takes to develop a ps3 game is not worth it. the xbox360 is just so much easier. and even nintendo is trying to make it easier for developers to make games for the wii, they simplified much of the programming involved with the remote. in the end i think it will stay the same xbox360 > wii > ps3

What it boils down to in my opinion is that microsoft and nintendo are focusing on the games while it seems like the games on the ps3 are an afterthought to sony. Really the ps3 is just a way for them to push blu-ray ahead. This may or may not be a smart thing for them to do.
Both nintendo and microsoft have come out with amazing innovative features on their new systems and advanced console gaming while in my opinion there is nothing innovative about the ps3 with regards to games.
microsoft really made online gaming work for consoles. And nintendo came out with a brand new design for the controller and a new idea of how the player would interact with that controller.
Like I said just a prediction but its not just based on my personal opinion of how fun I think each system is, its based on overall system popularity, 3rd party support for the system, ease of development for the system(which I guess is linked to how much 3rd party support there will be), and the overall focus of the company with the system (is this focus on games or the system being an entertainment center).
It just seems like sony is already doing this to the psp, if you notice almost all of the commercials for the psp now have nothing to do with games they sell it as a media player, showing people watching movies or listening to music but they barely push it as a game system anymore. I have a feeling this could happen to the ps3.
It just seems that way because Sony didn't produce any good titles yet, but they're all in the works.
Once MGS/DMC/FF13 will come out, PS3 will pick up its sales and will bump its way up the charts... after that i'm sure all the developers will come back crawling to Sony, like they always have.
We shall see but you would be surprised how fast developers will run away even from a powerhouse like sony if it is too expensive and difficult to develop a game for their system and the system is not selling. And seriously almost every store I go into has ps3's in stock right now.
And yeah my point is that Sony did not produce any good titles YET, but it does not seem like they are pushing to get good titles out there as much as they should. right now they need their system to sell and they are just sitting back all cocky. I don't think they can afford to be as cocky as they are they need to be more aggressive in getting their system out there.
Funny you should say that, because I've been having fun the last 17 years moving only my thumbs. Maybe I should look into a Wii...Originally Posted by Pro

Mario Galaxy, SSBB, and Metroid Prime 3... I'm expecting a lot from these three titles, as they're pretty much the flagship titles of the Wii (together with Zelda, but not really, since TP is a GCN mirrored version.)Originally Posted by XxSlusherxx
Yeah I have really high hopes for first person shooters on the wii if they do the controls right. It could be *almost* as good as a fps with mouse and keyboard.
I'm curious to see how Fable 2 turns out, I'm sick of seeing cinematic trailers for upcoming games.Originally Posted by Exoduso
Since when did 'running out of steam' equate to 'can't make them fast enough for everyone to get one'? Many, many people are still trying to find Wiis, while PS3s continue to sit on the shelves and within easy reach of online purchase.
If Sony wins the console war I'll stop buying consoles.
This is a very good point and just makes me think even more unless sony has some serious badass games and alot of them up its sleeve the ps3 as a gaming machine is going to be in serious trouble. They will have to work a lot harder than they are now to catch the ps3 up with the other 2 systems.Originally Posted by Stromgarde

The wiimote would be awkward as hell being able to move, strafe, and target would be a game of Twister.
And shooters don't have much potential when they are limited to Gamecube graphics.
I'm sure the price and the lack of good games plays a major factor in that but Sony really isn't doing as bad with the PS3 as people tend to think even with all the nagative press. I remember reading somewhere that in the 2 months PS3 has been out it has sold more then the PS2/360 in the same time frame when they first released. I can see why Wiis continue to sell out though the damn thing is fun as hell and at a very reasonable price. I just got one last week and haven't been able to put down Zelda. In regards to the previous comments about how hard it is to develope games for PS3 same thing was said about PS2 and we all know how that turned out. If Sony can keep the big name exclusives like MGS, FF series, DMC4, ect... I think they will be in good shape and IMO atleast end up winning this console war against 360 and Wii. Sony won't dominate the market share like the PS2 did against Xbox and GC but I still think PS3 will end up on top when all is said and done 4-5 years from now. However incase I'm wrong about my prediction it's always nice to own all 3 consoles.Originally Posted by Stromgarde
But remember that consoles wars are like marathons and not a 100 meter sprint. I'd say give it till atleast the end of 2008 early 2009 before a we can start to see a clear winner.
PS2 really dominated the market because of one game:
Vice City.
But that was when the Grand theft Auto was a new genre.
Its a tired old donkey now... It won't have the same appeal Vice City did when it burst onto the scene.
