Ya having the GTA games being a timed exclusive for PS2 helped out alot atleast in the US not really sure if the GTA series is as big in EU or JP. You are right though about how the genre is getting stale since so many companies are trying to make their own GTA cash cow with the majority of them being shitty clones.

There are too many variables, but I see for 2007 and only 2007:

    Xbox360 > Wii > PS3.

Xbox360 is so ahead and its getting a great amount of games. The Wii lacks the cool features of the other consoles and might be another Gamecube with the 3rd party. PS3 has a horrible launch they still need to recover from and most of their hyped games are a fair-deal into the future.

Games? Xbox360 has more games and more hyped games released, largely do it came out earlier.

Graphics? Xbox360 has not fallen behind PS3 so far.

    Online Play? No brainer.

Services? Because it has been out longer, Marketplace is much more developed than its opponent's counterparts.

There is a lot of ground the Japanese consoles need to make before they catch up with the 360. Games would be the best place to start.

PS. Remember when everyone got mad when I bashed on VC? Well this is right out of the mouth of a hardcore Nintendo fanboy.

Nintendo has a giant problem on their hands. The Wii comes with 512MB of internal memory. Dont get me wrong, this is alot of memory if we were just talking game saves, and would be very hard for the average user to fill up in the consoles life span.

VC screws the whole thing up though. There are currently 42 VC games out. I did some math and came out with the average "blocks" that each type of game eats up.

    NES - 92
    SNES - 127
    Genesis - 100
    TG16 - 100
    N64 - 162

The Wii's 512MB internal translates to roughly 2700 blocks. Agian, MAYBE all fine and dandy if that memory was just for VC games and your talking about an average user. But your forced to use this memory for EVERYTHING the Wii does. Game Saves, Channels (Weather, Internet, News), and VC Games. It starts adding up very fast.

To give you an idea I own 1 NES game, 1 Genesis game and 2 SNES games. I have saves for 6 Wii games. I am already down to 1900 blocks (i have room for only 15 more SNES games )

This would have all been fine if the Wii could directly save to the SD card allowing VC Titles and Game Saves to boot directly. But the way its setup a SD card is for backup purposes only. Games cant even access the SD slot, and VC games completly dissapear from your channel menu when put on there.

The 42 VC titles out right now total to 4290 blocks. You can buy a little over half of the VC games before your Wii is maxed out. Maxed out, no more VC games, no more saves, no more extra channels, done.

What Nintendo wants you to do is copy VC games over to your SD card when your not using them (completly rendering them unplayable). So not only is my dream of having pages of the golden classics on my Wii impossible, but look at how friggan long it takes to copy a NES game over to an SD card and back agian. No way in hell im doing that. I'm hassled when I have to get up and put another game in the disc drive.

I'm going to try and be optimistic here and say "they will fix the issue with a later firmware upgrade". Here is the deal: If enough VC games come out that I really want to fill up my Wii before this problem is fixed I am offically pissed at Nintendo.
Comes with this Youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RY0kd9xcpvg

No Nintendo didn't copy another game's ad, but it has actually made a huge mistake.

other than gears of war there is no game that makes me want to buy a 360, or even own for that matter.

the controller is the worst of the 3.

the graphics are 2nd, so it doesnt have that going for it AND it doesnt have the innovative gameplay that the wii does.

by the end of the year, the 360 will be in last place, maybe not volume wise because they did have the extra year, but they will be in last.

xbox live is a great service, i agree with you on that, however i'd rather have free than $50 a year and if sony gets everything running by the end of the year smoothly then 360 has nothing over anyone.

    Wii > 360 > PS3

GoW is the only good game on 360, and im not wasting 500$ to play it. Same with PS3, aside it has no good games out, and no good games coming out.

Though, depending on how well Blue Dragon does, I may pick up a 360.

Sorry, MGS sucks, ive hated it since NES; DMC is old, but its still pretty fun, but im not paying 700$ to play it. GTA is lol'able, the last good GTA game was GTA2London, and even that wasnt that great. I thought I remember talks of GTA4 coming to 360 anyway. And yes, ive played all the MGSs, DMCs and GTAs.

Wii has everything I like and want and it's fun to play in general, not to mention the VC.

Untill PS3 goes down atleast 200$ and gets some good RPGs (im not even interested in that pos looking FFXIII) its not even worth the time considering.

I see one big error with that quote. You can always delete a game from your harddrive and download it for free later, because they save your account information so you never have to pay again, just download it again. The saves are a big deal, even then, yes, but I don't see why Nintendo's firmware update won't allow you to access it later, and I also don't see anyone actually downloading every single game that comes out...that's like someone buying every single game on the shelf for a system now. It's one of those things that I think they will address as more people start using up the memory blocks, I expect they figured 512 memory would last a while until they did? It really seems like an easy thing to fix, I don't see that as a "huge problem" as long as they do actually fix it, and it doesn't seem hard to fix. It isn't, is it?...

Also, why do so many people act like Xbox and Wii have no good games coming out for them in answer to stuff like DMC4 and FF13? SSBB anyone? (gonna kick the shit outta a lot of sales records, I promise) Blue Dragon? (most promising RPG I've ever seen yet out of the next gen systems, and not gonna be on Ps3). Here's a few hints...in order to be in 3rd place, a system actually has to stop being sold out every time it pops into the store, and a system that is going to "be in first place" needs to stop sitting on the shelves unwanted. We need some real flagship titles for all 3 systems to come out, and a continous, steady stream of sales figures, before you can start having any real grounds for those statements other than opinion alone.

    My prediction for end of '07: 360 > PS3 > Wii

Lets get real here. The target age groups for the consoles are 360 & PS3: 18-34+, Wii: pre-18 and the Nintendo Fanboys. 360 and PS3 are going after a much greater market with more potential than Wii's pre-adult age group. Yes there are Nintendo fanboys, but not enough to make a huge difference. The fact is that most Wii's were probably bought by parents of kids 12-17. This is most likely due to the fact that it's the cheapest of the three consoles. Parents are only willing to spend so much and lets face it most kids don't have jobs to buy new games. Now the 18-34 age group is the larger market because these guys have more money to spend. They can afford new titles when they come out as well as the peripherals that come out as the consoles age. With that said the war really come down to the 360 and PS3 with Wii sitting on the bench in the back.

PS3 and 360 right now are pretty much equal in performance with games and their graphics. However, as time goes by developers will begin to exploit the raw power of the PS3. This will begin to show as FPSs on the system begin to have better graphics, quicker refresh rates, much shorter loading times, and larger more complex levels.

Titles for the 360 so far except Gears of War are pretty much sub-par like usual. Yes, PS3 doesn't really have any good titles out, but many are in the works. The controller for the 360 is the worst of the three consoles, Xbox isn't really known for their great controller design. The only thing that the 360 will really have going for it into '08 will be the online service. However, if Sony comes through with better online service like they promised then Microsoft may have some issues. Also, console wars aren't won by the number of consoles sold it's by the number of titles sold. Whoever, comes through in this new gen war will have a much better library of games then the other two competitors.

That's why I also predict by mid '08/ end of '08 that it will be PS3 > 360 > Wii

I can tell you right now, this is incorrect, and I'm not a Nintendo Fan boy.

The only reason the Gamecube was a "kiddie-console" as some people called it is because developers like Rockstar were not interested in the lowest selling console. Trust me, if there is anyone who cares the most about "mature" games are the immature pre-18 year olds.

Without considering the above, the Wii (and the DS, which helps the Wii by association) has done very good with +18 crowd.

I didn't read the rest of your post, sorry ;o.

That's true, but most of the kids who want the mature games can only get them because of their parents buying them. The older age group would have more access and ability to purchase said games.

    PS3 has no good games

No good games makes the graphics moot

I'd rather pay a whopping $5 a month for good online play than getting an unreliable free service.

It happens every time new systems are released, Nintendo starts out hot and people get excited, then the other systems pass it.

Halo 3 is gonna keep xbox on time for awhile.

FFXIII has gone back to turn based battle system for all you people that care so Yuyx it might be as bad as you think :D.

My opinion is the PS3 has most potential so I'm hoping the system will live long enough to realize it. The European launch is actually 100 times better then the US & Japan launch with more units, better games, AND the emulation for older games is fixed. Also during the European launch is when Sony is going to do that massive firmware update and improve the PSN network functionally. I think it will move units there and start to catch up with the Wii. Nintendo is having one hell of a hard time getting units and accessories to stores, while Sony is producing units much better but they are selling slower. I will get a PS3 but I'm just waiting for some better games. I think the lack of games is the only thing wrong with the PS3, the price is steep but if you really did some research you knew the PS3 was going to be $500-$600 like 6 months before they announced it. So you should have done this thing that most people don't like to do called "Saving". Sony PS3 might not be top dog but I think it will stay around and be a good system. O for the people that have 1080i TV's from what this article says its might get fixed soon as well.

    http://www.beyond3d.com/articles/ps3scaler/

The Wii is an interesting system but its still having some of the same problems has the PS3. There is a huge lack of good Wii games, I'm sorry but Warioware is a rental, and most of the first Quarter Wii games are stupid ports or just shitty titles. I shouldn't have to be forced to play old VC games because my system doesn't have anything. Also the VC needs alot more games then this stupid 1 game a week bullshit. The small extras the Wii has like the news channel, mii channel and the weather channel really are kinda useless. I like my Wii but I can already tell it wont be my favorite console. Wii is cute but I just don't think it will last against the 360. It might not last against the PS3 if Sony pulls there shit together which they seem to be doing.

The 360 I can't say much about but I think Halo is the most overrated game in console history. But with xbox live I think they will continue to do well.

A lot of people are not considering that Xbox360 does have a lot of good games. At least 20 above-average, 10 good, and 5 great.

I think the problem with the xbox is that if you don't like FPS then all those good games aren't for you.
