I guess this could be good, but amazing?
They're good, not amazing, but yeah, would be nice if we were actually *Gasp* allowed to obtain them. (SE stop ninja'ing prz)Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

I dont look for them to add a sky/sea-ish zone to TAU anytome soon if ever. we just recently got salvage, wich gives every job a new set of gear to work towards, (utility discusion aside). Im starting to think salvage is our TAU endgame, atleast I really hope we dont have to deal with another area to farm triggers in.
I for one havent been impressed by salvage at all, it has lolcop written all over it. I rarely see people on my server doing it more than they do limbus. I still talk to people who have never even done salvage yet and didn't even seem remotely interested in it ;o
Its because they're waiting for guaranteed win strategies to come out; not everyone is interested in discovery and exploration, particularly when it is expensive or painful.
Once people start finishing upgrades, they'll become more interested. Who remembers the giant leap currency took once the first relic weapons were completed?
Salvage is interesting and deep but yes, it is COPlike in its bizzare design. Bad enough you need 3 pieces for one armor piece (that may or may not drop from a variety of sources) but the retarded o. ingot and imperial wootz fee, combined with SE baffling decision to not add new ways of obtaining these items, makes getting even the basic of each set real pains.
Salvage gear is just Dynamis to the n'th degree. The devs tantalize us with crazy gear to ensure another year or two of frustrated but addicted players blowing Gil and time on something that just might change the way they play. Seems like a smart business strategy to me.Originally Posted by Toth

I'm still hoping they will change certain drop rate to make the zone more enjoyable, kinda like they changed besieged to make it more fun. It wouldnt be hard to make ja/magic/weapon drop rate 100% on first floor to speed up thing a little, without destroying the challenge.
I'm not sure it's comparable to relic, because the effort required for both is very different. Price tag on relic is what scared people away more than paper/fragment. Salvage on the other hand need a constant effort from 12+ people for a long time before seeing any result, and even then, result isn't that good for many jobs.
I understand SE desire to make us stay forever in the game, but they arent using the right method imo. Limbus give people a ton of reward and I'm still going there every 3-4 days after 1 year and half, same could be said about dynamis. Salvage reward system is about 1/20 of what Limbus/dynamis is, and it probably wont be much better even with strategy figured (unless there is a drop pattern for those NM). Did anyone actually complete a piece? Anyway, gears droprate, when you consider nothing else is going to drop (like ancient beastcoins or dyna currency) make that place a huge pain in the ass for additional macro swap gears.

I'm hoping Testing ground is going to be a "dynamis" area for blu/pup/cor AF, and hopefully, more cape/belt for other jobs but it's hard to say.
I don't really know, I only saw people in my linkshell excited the first time we ever did salvage and ever since then its like "blah response" when its on our weekly schedule. I havent really seen much enthusiasm at least on my server about salvage.
We have too much enthusiasm from my LS. I usually want to take 6-12 people for focussed exploration, and often end up with 15+ and consoling people when they stand around for 100 minutes never even getting a single cell :X
But then, we're not a HNMLS, we're just a shell of people who like playing the game. I guess that could have an effect on enthusiasm.

I think I would do it once or twice a week just for the sake of it, but I'm lacking energy to bother gathering people
I run my own salvage runs and usually I have to end up pulling teeth to get people to go. I guess it doesn't help that the first few runs were with 18 people and being a cheerleader for 100 minutes put people off about it.
Don't get me wrong because I love salvage. However, as mine and countless other lses have seen, the random cell drop rate at the start is a real killer if the wrong cells drop at the wrong time. It is a poorly designed artifical challenge that can create way too much frustration, especially with the 2k assault point fee and the high degree of uncertainity in certain zones. When you look at it, Dynamis and Limbus are more straightforward but still require solid strategies to master. Salvage seems to be based more on luck than strategy.
