I think some people are mixing things up.

There's a difference between "I hate the game but I like the friends, so I stick around." and "I still enjoy the game because I have friends that keep it fun, so I still play." I don't think anyone is saying the first, or at least it doesn't seem so.

I'm still having fun, even when I'm doing stuff solo or with other people. The single reason I stay isn't the friends, but it probably is one of the bigger reasons (as it's always been).

Talking on AIM or e-mail isn't the same experience either, or at least for me. I had a large group of friends from all being on the same soccer team together for like 10 years of our lives, and we all had the most fun playing soccer together. We all went different ways after high school and I still talk to them through AIM, email, facebook, etc, but none of that compares to us all getting together and playing a few games of soccer. I don't find the comparison to be all too much different for FF friends, except for us we go do something in the game or whichever. Laugh at the comparison all you like, but I enjoy time spent with friends doing something whether in game or RL more than I do talking to them on AIM or through e-mail. But I guess that varies from person to person.

of course there is. that doesn't mean people aren't allowed or justified to want to log on just to shoot the shit with their friends. if i wanted to take it a level further, ls talk is hilarious cause its a community. dont get that IM'ing a bunch of people independently of one another.

I have been playing for over 2 years, and I gotta say this: Between my friends and lvling Jobs,missions,etc. I will never really get tired of the game. I used to do HNMs a lot, burned out on It, took a break for a month or so, now feeling all better, and back to doing It full time. One thing you gotta remember though: This is a game, If your not having fun, why waste time playing It still

I forgot to mention it in my last post in this thread, so I'll say what keeps me from leaving here:
Storyline, friends, discovering lesser-known things, dicking around, and experiencing what SE offers, whether it is awesome or so retarded you laugh. Considering they added Zazarg, penguins, lizardmen that talk like Yoda, squidmen, frogmen, and door monsters all in the course of a year, I can't wait to see what they offer next.

I'm also someone with only BRD at 75 (for 2+ years) but I keep playing because I still enjoy the game. I get burnt out on sky or kings or dynamis like everyone else, but I take breaks from things when I know I won't enjoy them and do something else that sparks my interest. I also enjoy seeing my friends get the gear that they want and knowing I helped. Having full god, AF2, zenith, etc. leaves not much left for me on personal gear levels, but I can still have fun seeing a friend get the Novio he's wanted, or seeing someone be able to uncurse the Dalm they've had in storage.

Actually, only BG forums at the moment... other than that nothing, really.

My server sucks ass, all my friends quit for WoW (except for a couple who are rarely on/free), I don't have an active LS (and I don't feel like trying to join one since they're all filth here), and EXP, while progress, can only be so fun.

I know better than to outright quit, because that's what fucked me over when I came back after 9 months of WoW, so now my character is just sitting dormant wherever I logged him out at last. What's killing is the fact I'm paying $15/month for... what? SE need to do paid character transfers. Now.

On top of it all, all my WoW friends are begging for me to come back... my characters are all still intact and ready to go on the same server/side they're on (and the only thing that's keeping me from going back is how gay the UI is to set up to the point where I had it before... fuck THAT).

The best way to get over little omgbored spells like this are to take small breaks and rebuild your craving to play the game until something really awesome comes out... like paid server transfers!
