    Because I rarely get bored.

I speak to people around the world. I get some mental challenge. I enjoy gaming. I don't camp kings. I do like dynamis.

I think for me it's the community. I love the gaming aspects, I love the challenges. The main reason I would never cheat at this game is because however absurd the challenges SE lays down are, I get a kick out of accepting and beating them.

Have to be honest, I got hooked when I was kinda at a low point IRL, now things are better and my social life is picking up and so I expect to be playing less. However, the online friends I have made have been unique and its them that bring me back every day.

I can see a point might come where I've done so much there simply isn't anything more I want to do. Or enough people leave that I'd miss too much. Or things in my RL change and so I don't have the time.

    Still jacked in for now!

I have a suggestion. If you're really that bored, go into whitegate or lower jeuno and listen for random shouts of ppl needing help with something.

Pick one that takes your fancy, and go help them with the super mega gear you've accumulated over the years. Be patient and respectful.

I've been doing this since getting BST to 75(1 2). It's so refreshing sometimes, I actually enjoy it more than the things I do with my ls occasionally. It doesn't get boring mostly because each time you do help it's usually something totally unrelated, unlike the routinely limbus/dynamis/assault runs (which are okay themselves). Along with another guy, I helped someone get a coffer key from Davoi on Saturday. Admittedly it took quite a while, but was fun as drg/whm keeping them healed. On Sunday I helped 2 JP players get a pld testimony as rdm/nin. Joyeuse, brutal earring and justice sword is so much fun. :>

Don't scoff, just simply try it. Put some music on and go help someone!

As for the rest, like most have said already it's not *just* the friends, but that's a big factor obviously.

    You're a 75 BRD. Okies.

Now go level something more challenging. Getting to 75 BRD is Easy Mode.

Try Corsair if you want something similar. Or RDM, since it's another "princess" job.

Better still, see what it's like on the other ends of the PT. Take up Paladin or Ranger, learn what it's like being able to take the hits or dish out the big melee booms.

Explore. You miss so much in endgame mode, zipping from HNM to HNM. I guarantee there are places out there in the game world that'll make you go "WTF?".

But most of all, it's friends that keep people in the game. And avoiding a steady diet of endgame drama. That shit's worse than eating 24/7 at McDonald's.

Not much, as of late. I haven't even been on the past weeks and even though I get the occasional urge to log on I've decided not to. Most of the old friends are gone and there's not much new things left to do in the game. Not being too happy with my current LS doesn't make it that much easier either, but I just don't feel like searching to a new group of people in this late stage of the game.

Then I guess the whole timezone issue living in Europe is a big thing too, though I've lived with it since NA release.

I'm still having fun. After 3 years of playing, l still feel like there just isn't enough time to do everything I want. I've found that you can re-spark the fun in an event just by changing your role. Playing a BLM at Ouryu is a lot different than tanking it. In the same respect tanking a Baha2 is entirely different than playing a Melee DD role. Or even something less drastic as playing Summoner vs an SA/TA Melee at Wyrm. The game allows you to level multiple jobs, and in some cases play the same job in multiple roles(often the result of different eq/sj builds). Changing the amount of people you use can also results in a change of strategy, and can bring a whole new challange to an otherwise normal fight.

If youre in a Linkshell that strays away from Wyrm/HNM pops, there's still Assault/ENM/Salvage/Dynamis/Limbus/Sky/Sea, not to mention a decent chunk of unique jobs to level to 75 and consequently merit. The game is meant as a way to pass some time while entertaining yourself. Granted the game isn't overwhelming /w exciting content... it not exactly devoid of fun either. There's a lot more to the game than leveling up one class and playing it in a supporting role.

Only thing that is keeping me in game is wanting to finish getting AF2 for my Blm... Other than a couple of people still playing, most of my friends quit for WoW or just quit for something else, the ls I was in, lost so many people that it was not the ls I was used to, so having no ls for over six months now makes me wonder wtf do I even log in for? Fuck you Dynamis-Xarc, lol.

Do you ever get depressed with the game like this? If you do, what do you do? And if you don't, what stops you from getting in this depression slump?
I enjoy this game and all it has to deliver, minus leveling, but I do it anyways... just like any other FF.

My goal is to make sure everyone in dyna has RR and Echo drops. Since the idiot floor is always set above 1, I can play forever.

    Reason number 1

    Reason number 2

I feel im in the same boat as the OP.
Simular in that I too only have bard at 75. I take extended breaks though for play of other games but keep comming back because well I got a really cool LS, got really fun friends and well, I like some of the new content that SE is putting out.

What I don't get though is the reason why I stop playing for a week or two at a time is the fact that SE still hasn't done anything to make the game a better place.

Came off a 3 week break last tuesday and have played every day since, but what I've noticed personally is, to keep the game "fresh" for people who which I'm guessing the OP fits into the same as I do that XP is the worst thing in this game and well I refuse to level another job; set time limits on how long you'll play, and avoid the "standing in whitegate syndrom" or staring at your moogle. I've found that I enjoy it more if theres something to do, if there isn't I plain and simple log off. No more waiting and spending time staring at darters on stupid 3 hour camps. Stuff like that will make you dislike the game in the long run.

Actually getting a job to 75....I keep quitting for small amounts of time with only 5 levels to go on a job that should go 70-75 pretty damn fast. Also, the hope I might get to do sea with my LS soon.

no, you have fun because we watch world scrabble tournaments on ESPN2 while on vent and we make fun of the people, especially the fat ladies with mutant eyes.

the friends I have and I still want "that" special armor. Keeps me in the game.

From experience, if you take long period vacations from the game you will like the game again when you come back.

There are plenty of dumb things to do in this game, especially if you are a bit burnt out. Oddly enough its dumb crap like map quests I love.....

Garden of Ru'Humet solo is so so amusing.....

The ability to go of and solo stuff on Blm for no real reason keeps me going.

Toth, I think SE made their plans for PUP quite clear in the cutscene with Mnejing vs. King of Hearts. They're just there to be laughed at.

I actually just quit last Thursday. All of a sudden decided that there was many other better and more constructive things I could be doing with my time. It was like a switched flipped in my head. I logged out, canceled my content IDs, and uninstalled the game. Since then I've said my goodbyes and started doing RL stuff.

I find myself now with alot of free time...but that time has been filled so far with hanging out with friends that I have snubbed for the game over the past 3 years...cleaning, getting errands done. I feel very productive.

I'm not saying the game is a waste of time. If you enjoy playing it, go right ahead. My reasons for leaving were more personal. I have some important RL stuff coming up in the next few months, and I got a little tired of the politics and drama that surround the game.

Did I get everything done in the game that I wanted? Of course not. Sure, it would have been cool to get an Aegis, or level another job or two up to 75, or kill Bahamut v2 etc. I'd say the greatest accomplishment was making friends with some really cool people I met in the game. That's worth more to me than any gear I've gotten, and you can't place a price tag on that.

I felt comfortable with leaving my friends because I know those who are really my friends will still talk to me when I leave. I still communicate regularly to a few via e-mail or chat. At first it sucks to leave because you don't know what to do with your time, and you start to second guess that this is what you really want.

Anyway, to the OP...a game is something that is meant to be fun and entertain you. Only you will know when the time is right to leave, but a game should never make you feel depressed, anxious, or angry. Take that into consideration, and weigh your options.
