What keeps you from quitting?

Avoid a steady diet of endgame drama. That shit's worse than eating 24/7 at McDonald's.

Thats one of the few things that kept me playing, but there are only so many ways you can flail nidhogg so it got boring after awhile.

I rest my case. Yeah, it's tasty once in a while, but drama grinds down the soul if it's all you're after, leads to boredom, and /goodbye game.

I've done my DM, helped off a few HNM's. Did my raiding days on EQ. The 24/7 MUST GO NOW lifestyle is a fun-killer to me.

I know it may be lolPS2 limitations, but being able to multichannel linkshell conversations would be a blessing. A loose network would probably mean more folks could do stuff without the total rigidity an HNMLS often demands to keep enough people focused at any given time.

Friends.

Basically, everything i do in this game has become routine, and rarely do i happen to do something that is new and refreshing, but its b/c im doing with ppl i love, thats what keeps me coming back, otherwise...probably would have quit a very long time ago.

Oh yeah, if you feel disgruntled and bored with the game, consider taking a break before you decide to to quit for good, this did the trick for me a few months back.

I'd also like to say that the memories (including the friends) I've made in the game also keep me playing. The feeling I got when our group beat CoP 6-4 for the first time was the most amazing feeling I think I ever got from a video game. Helping my friends months down the road also made me feel really good when they beat this mission as well. When I helped my friend get his YY robe after camping on and off for a month (took four claims/kills to get) I was getting teary eyed because I was so happy he finally got his peice that we spent so long working to get for him. I remember how nervous I was fighting maat for the first time I would pace around the house trying to prep on how I was going to do it haha. Of course when I beat him it was just an amazing feeling.

You just don't get those kinds of emotions from other games, but a lot of it has to do with the people/friend factor as well.
