I suppose a run-and-gun standard xp party is a bit faster, but this was steady enough xp to not feel like a waste, only involved two of us instead of 6, and a VERY fun change of pace.
My DRG friend and myself (on PUP) did basically the same thing from 60-70. It was VERY easy to get chain 4-5, and when we got the hang of it, we always managed to pull in at least 7k per hour (and this was before the new automaton weaponskills). Colibris were our enemy of choice, if another party showed up we didn't really care, we could always outpull them. DRG would tank, wyvern heal us both, Super Jump to my puppet when/if hp was an issue, and with Flashbulb me as /WHM we did pretty good for ourselves since we didn't need to wait for any hard-to-find jobs to show up.
Also, I find PUP to be an amazingly effective farming job. Set it up with Mana Converter/Mana Tank and Damage Gauge/Auto Repair Kit and you can kill things endlessly.
Lesser Colibiri are all T or less at 63 i think and should start to fall off xp-wise at 64 if not now at 63 Id think. Where did you camp exactly on the way to 70 at different lvl ranges? Anyone tried tigers for xp? When are normal colibiri weak enough for a smaller party? Anyone tried Quigrn in the graveyard near Nashmau? Somewhere in Aydeewa maybe (man i love worm xp when it works)?
I think the Ranger would get pwnt in this setup. Hell, the RNG pulls hate in 6 man parties on birds alot of the times that Daze goes off. The Stromwaker did pull hate sometimes with Knockout or if i started laying on the Ice nukes too early, and his cure4s were invaluable several times. /war might indeed work though, but stoneskin and heals and regen and sneak were nice to have especially with sanction refresh. Not sure if /war would have sped up kills enough to be worth the loss of utility.
I'm a PUP.... thats why im not pursuing 2 BST duo setup lol. I had such a good time doing it that I started the thread since there is very little info on PUP small party play, especially serious talk for the later levels. BST small party play is well charted territory.
The hate balance really was suprisingly controllable, and my debuffs and flash etc added alot to the setup that a 2nd bst would not have. Really, we both had different contributions that added up together very well. Not being a BST, I cant say how effective 2 BST duo is compared to this, but the combo did not feel lopsided by having 2 different jobs.
With my limited time to play and lack of people seeking when I can play on Siren quite often, I'm looking forward to trying variations on this out more often now. Any other Siren peeps near 63 with a good job to pair with my PUP, send me a /tell.
