Got my soil gorget last night!

Hey, I started out soloing and duoing just like you guys. But now... now I'm getting better gear. Soon I'll get my Temp axe; then the my temp torque. And pretty soon, I'll make party material, and that's when the big invites start rolling in.

Just don't fight mamools as bst, it sucks hardcore. Unless your that bst on KI who claims he out parses ridill wars and hits fine against mamools eatting meat...

(I do fine against mamools eatting meat but I have +65 acc gear when I fight them, but your pet hitting for 40% acc is worthless...)

Even with relic + temp I solo more than I tp burn. But I capped most of my merits anyway.

It also always seems to be this case..

@ Fafnir camp window 2 or helping someone w/ something or another.

/l hey guys just got online, I got a BRD and WHM anyone want to burn? I can't seem to find any melee people..

/sigh... Grrrr why can't you need melee when I am not at a camp?

Edit: No one gets my movie quote.. ><

Not to mention that PUPs have a bit of hard time hitting Mamools, even with sushi. I've tried +57 accuracy bonus gear and meat, and saw disappointing results.

I think most BST have done this sort of stuff. You can make a lot of weird combos work if you're careful about it. I was just in that very same camp you were talking about soloing as RNG62/BST a few days ago and it was going fine. ^^

I'm looking for some tips and more duo xp spots for next time (since I lvld up to 63 after winning the ENM afterwards). I suppose a run-and-gun standard xp party is a bit faster, but this was steady enough xp to not feel like a waste, only involved two of us instead of 6, and a VERY fun change of pace.
My DRG friend and myself (on PUP) did basically the same thing from 60-70. It was VERY easy to get chain 4-5, and when we got the hang of it, we always managed to pull in at least 7k per hour (and this was before the new automaton weaponskills). Colibris were our enemy of choice, if another party showed up we didn't really care, we could always outpull them. DRG would tank, wyvern heal us both, Super Jump to my puppet when/if hp was an issue, and with Flashbulb me as /WHM we did pretty good for ourselves since we didn't need to wait for any hard-to-find jobs to show up.

Also, I find PUP to be an amazingly effective farming job. Set it up with Mana Converter/Mana Tank and Damage Gauge/Auto Repair Kit and you can kill things endlessly.
Lesser Colibiri are all T or less at 63 i think and should start to fall off xp-wise at 64 if not now at 63 Id think. Where did you camp exactly on the way to 70 at different lvl ranges? Anyone tried tigers for xp? When are normal colibiri weak enough for a smaller party? Anyone tried Quigrn in the graveyard near Nashmau? Somewhere in Aydeewa maybe (man i love worm xp when it works)?

I think the Ranger would get pwnt in this setup. Hell, the RNG pulls hate in 6 man parties on birds alot of the times that Daze goes off. The Stromwaker did pull hate sometimes with Knockout or if i started laying on the Ice nukes too early, and his cure4s were invaluable several times. /war might indeed work though, but stoneskin and heals and regen and sneak were nice to have especially with sanction refresh. Not sure if /war would have sped up kills enough to be worth the loss of utility.

I'm a PUP.... thats why im not pursuing 2 BST duo setup lol. I had such a good time doing it that I started the thread since there is very little info on PUP small party play, especially serious talk for the later levels. BST small party play is well charted territory.

The hate balance really was suprisingly controllable, and my debuffs and flash etc added alot to the setup that a 2nd bst would not have. Really, we both had different contributions that added up together very well. Not being a BST, I cant say how effective 2 BST duo is compared to this, but the combo did not feel lopsided by having 2 different jobs.

With my limited time to play and lack of people seeking when I can play on Siren quite often, I'm looking forward to trying variations on this out more often now. Any other Siren peeps near 63 with a good job to pair with my PUP, send me a /tell.
We went to the tower camp I think in the woodlands(?) vs normal Colibri when the exp from lessers started to die out. It was harder to pull in optimal exp for perhaps the transition level, but afterwards it was basically more of the same. Even with another party there it was usually pretty easy to find a mob since we could wander into the tunnel area or past the crawler mobs to the second tunnel. We kinda stopped after 69/70 since we didn't know where to go. I almost exclusively used VE frame, SS took hate too often even without Optic Fiber on, and the Shield Bash proved quite useful a few times. Reflect made SW kind of a no-go.

See, this is what I never ever understood. People will invite a PUP, but will not invite a BST. There is no logic in that, especially when a good BST can outdo most all PUPs.
it's partially the "BST is a solo job" mentality (no matter what SE says, BST was a solo job for years, and BST really hasn't gotten anything to say otherwise yet. It remains the most neglected of the older jobs to this day), but a small group isn't always about straight damage, and that's one of the few places PUP can really show and use it's versaility to full effect, especially against T-VT mobs where the C H2H isn't nearly so hindering. Especially now with all the little things that have come out or been improved, like Eraser, Flashbulb, self-curing, -eva WS, Shield Bash/Stun WS, voking, debuffing...and honestly, I have never parsed myself against a BST before, but you'd be surprised what a PUP can do at various levels damage wise, while we are still waiting on worthwile AH melee gear and more obtainable endgame gear.

i agree most BST have done this stuff, but from a PUP perspective, this is newer for us and we have our own way of doing things. And while BSTs may party with other BSTs alot, I don't think the BST PUP duo has been explored by lots of people yet. I was hoping this discussion would center around the combo of the two rather than focus on how BST can manage without a PUP.
