Around here the kids are not even allowed to dress up for Halloween so the idea of any Yoga being introduced is laughable.

I always think people who use "separation of church and state" arguments to be kind of deluded and I think what they say the are fighting against is exactly what they are to blame for.

I think kids should be exposed to as much religion and spiritual concepts in school as humanly possible so that they will be more tolerant and accepting of people who are different.

The opposite is taught by parents today.. "If I see someone who expresses something that I disagree with I will just fight to have it eradicated."

When people go to the extreams to not allow a school to have a Christmas tree (because it is based on religion), why should the schools be allowed to teach something else that is based on religion?

Christian tree is actually from a pagan religion, but it is a religion none the less.

Edit: In other words the "christmas" tree has very little to do, if anything at all, with christianity.

I find this statement to be this subtle implication that the Christian fundamentalists are trying to argue that Yoga comflicts with what they already teach in school, errrr, I MEAN THE STATE... YEAH.

If people actually worry about this I am scared for what the future might bring. Exposure to other cultures is a thing that should be encouraged not discouraged. If a person grows up only knowing whats happening in that small bubble of the world then once they venture outside they will be clueless.Parents should encourage their children to learn about other cultures because as we move further and further into globalization, living in a little bubble will not help you at all.

It's bad enough most of the kids are already getting Christian dogma drilled into their heads at home, do we really want the state to assist us in rearing a generation of superstitious little shits?

Although Yoga does have roots in religion, the actual exercises ARE soothing and effective to an extent. Relaxing your mind and focusing on something simple will work, regardless of what crazy religion is behind it.
