    Vizio TVs

So I'm starting to be unhappy with my TV purchase of about a year ago. I got a Samsung Slim Fit 28 or 30 inch or something, and its 4:3. All these games now display in 16:9 so I want to get a new one.
Vizio has a 32 inch Widescreen for $699 on their website which obviously is way less than what it would be for one of the big names. Anyone know if these are pieces of shit? Or would it be worth it?
Also, anywhere I could sell or trade in my current tv? I don't want to ebay it because of shipping.

Go for either Sharp, Samsung, or Sony. if you don't mind spending the money... if you do, then anything will do really, the quality won't be as good as those three though.

I would put Panasonic on that list too, but they're way too expensive.

There's a long thread pertaining to the 32" viz.

I'd personally would try for a 37" 1080p westinghouse if you can afford it (800-900), or wait a bit since new sets will be released soon by the cheaper branded manufacturers which will probably bring down older models.

A friend of mine has a westinghouse and they're pretty decent... are they true 1080p though? Because they might list it as such, but i'm not sure if the resolution is up to par.

If it is though, it's a damn steal.

Yeah it's true 1080p. I have the 42" hooked up to my PC. Looks great.

No, not that one Po. That one is 720p. You'll want the LTV-37w3 model. Notice the 3 at the end, whereas the one at bestbuy is a 2. Buy.com has the 1080p one for 1049. About 3 weeks ago, it was in the 900s with a 100 dollar rebate, and 6 weeks ago shopko had it for 899 (800 on black friday) but those deals are gone now it seems. 1049 (or 999 for 720) is too much!

You should browse places like fatwallet and see what deals pop up from time to time.

    I got this one:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 5069968903

Paid 2000~ after tax for it, and sure it's a little more expensive but it was definitely worth it.

Again, with HDTVs it's all about money... the more you spend, the better quality you'll get for the most part, I mean westinghouse has really good TVs for instance, but their name isn't quite out there yet so the price is lower. Or the opposite... Sony puts about 1000 MORE on their TVs than just because it's got the SONY logo on it.

I did a good 2-3 month research before I decided which TV I wanted to get, not really something you decide within a moment when you're talking about so much money.

lol, I still need to buy a surround system but I don't really know which brand I should get.

I don't want to do the professional one, because as soon as I move out it's useless (you know, the ones where they hook it up to the ceiling and make it look all neat and stuff.) I want a regular 5 or 7 piece set that I can just randomly hang around the room, but I honestly don't know which brand is the best for that (and I under no circumstances want to get one that comes with a DVD, I already have like 4 DVDs in the room cus of all the consoles lol..)

Yes and yes, Bose gives you amazing quality with their systems, but you definately pay for it.

How much is "expensive"? And it's not one of those professional ones you hook up to your ceiling is it?

    This?

All the rest (that cost more) listed come with a DVD player I believe, which I don't need.

Sure you'll get a better TV if you spend more for the most part but value/price doesn't scale linearly. With the rate TVs are dropping, I could use that 1000 dollars i saved by not buying a sony and buying a new TV next year! And I was considering the Sharp TVs as well. They're priced nicely compared to the other named brand manufacturers. But for the OP, I was guessing he's on a budget so recommended the cheaper end models. If not, go for that 47" Vizio at costco!

Yea as far as TV's I probably should have waited, or at least got the 16:9 instead of the 4:3 ratio that I got. Most 360 games are meant to be displayed 16:9 and when I go and display them 4:3 it really takes something away from it I know.
I think the best looking LCDs out there are those Samsung ones. The pictures are the most vivid by far.. the problem is they are a good 200 dollars more than anywhere else, which is a lot. For example, I was looking at a Toshiba 32 inch LCD for $799 and the Samsung of the same size was $1259.. that is just too much of a difference, I'm sorry. And Toshiba is at least an A-, B+ brand as far as TV's go. I might end up buying the Toshiba, I'm undecided.
    This is it:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 0394756718
I should probably just save up and hold out for this one:
    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 4703182017
That way I will be satisfied for a long time and not have to buy another.
You're right though Exo, this time I am not going to rush into it, since Electronics depreciates faster than anything else.

Sharp > Samsung, we got both at my house... some stores usually alter the settings on the TVs to make the more expensive ones look better than the others (even though I think the 42" sharp costs more than the 42" samsung..), but either way it's way better.

Meh I'd go with Samsung, I like their TV's. Call me crazy but I'll pay a little less for better name recognition overall. And I've seen the way Video games look on those Samsung lcds. And it is sexy.

Again, we have both 1080p versions of the Sharp and Samsung, and have tried maximizing the PS3 and 360 on both, and Sharp looks better (we sat approx. 6 feet away from both.)

    Besides, they look better too:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...uso/setup1.jpg

My brother has the Samsung, I got the Sharp... and he knows it's better too, heh.

FYI, the material that you have around the Samsungs is the same material that they use on the Sharp, I love it. I do like Samsung's design a lot though, That cut at the bottom is sexy.
