That wasn't an option...5 years without an original FF will do that, they had to throw something at us to keep us quiet for a while... that's why they chose FFX too, cus they re-used 90% of the areas from the original game. (that's fine, but did they have to keep them looking EXACTLY THE SAME?)Originally Posted by Scythiroth

How can you hate Tidus? He was a pimp in his time and a pimp in Yuna's time. He banged High-Summoner Yuna man! That kind of girl are hard to come by!Originally Posted by Exoduso

Hell, SQUALL>Tidus, man...
I'd cry too if my Father was a drunk jerk who ignored me, and when he was around my Mother she'd ignore me too. Than to find out my Father was going to eat the world after I was sucked into some portal by a zombie.Originally Posted by Exoduso
lol well when you put it that way... I hate him even more.
Dumb concept.
Vaan wasnt nearly as annoying as i expected him to be. I found all the characters in 12 to be very well done and compliment each other.
My only gripe with 12 was the short gameplay.
I'm only past the dungeon where you get the first summon with 80+ hours(more then most of my FF games I've played) although I haven't played in a few weeks. I dunno why people say it has short gameplay at all D;Originally Posted by Neosutra
Tidus was fine, the whole game was good. If you remove the love story you have no game left. Let me go help some dumb girl who won't sleep with me. If I was Tidus and didn't hit it, I'd quit the quest and be like "I'm going to play Blitzball and get some bye gl in saving the land."Originally Posted by Exoduso

Seriously... did you just sit in town for hours? By the time i went to KRT, i was overleveled, but jesus, i only had like 20 somthing hours.Originally Posted by Exoduso
And there are alot of things to do in the game, its the Story that is short as hell.
Take away the marks and watch the story pan out.. you get like a 5 min short story.. They could have done ALOT more with it.
I think this is the reason it took me this long to actually sit down and play through it... story seemed short, and the battle system didn't feel like an FF to me (even though it's basically FFXI-offline, and it actually is very fun...)
I played through the JP version before when it was first released, got past the part where you're in Archades, and gave up because I could only go on so much without knowing half the spell names.
And then the english version just bored me around Bur-Omisace, so I stopped that as well.
Yeah, they could have been like FFX with it, an entire game on rails bound and unseperable from the story. That would have been great.Originally Posted by Neosutra
FFXII is an RPG with a heavy emphasis on the G. There is this huge world with a ton of bosses and several zones you never even see or hear of in the overarching story. It's almost as if they wanted you to still be able to have fun with it after you completed the narrative!
FFXII is more like FFT than any main-series game (I'll let you guess why), and that is just fine and dandy with me. These two games have more 'endgame' things to do than any other in the series. Even FFXI >.>
I agree, it's pumped up with fights, however it's very dull on the story, which is what i've grown to love about the series.
Not that i'm complaining, I take the FFs for what they're worth... each game is good on its own accord.
Or they could have both? Huge expansive areas with ton non story stuff to do AND a long meaningful story with challenging fights?Originally Posted by Stilgar

I'd rather keep the main story as it is, which is relatively concise, meaningful, and filler-free, than add 30 more hours to it full of magnetic caves where I need all leather gear and such.
I just felt like I was spending more time running around than anything in the game because zones were so large...
Again, they're extremely lucky that the battle system is fun, or else the game would've been too annoying to bear.
