If Sony did with FF what Nintendo did with Zelda, even they would've sold a ton more.

Like for instance, bump up FF12's graphics a little bit, release it for the PS3 at launch, and wait with the PS2 version for a good 2 months.

But Square knew PS3 was gonna do bad apparently, so they screwed sony over and released it on the PS2 3 weeks before the PS3...this way, all the PS2 owners could still buy their game, instead of Square being stuck with a crappy FF launch.

FFX was released in 2001, XII was released in 2006... it's not our fault square got caught up in a million different projects.

FF7 8 and 9 and 10 came out 1 year apart of each other...that's because, while 7 was finishing production, 8 was already being worked on, and etc.

They just dropped the ball in my eyes ever since they released FFX.

FF13 won't come out til 2008 in japan, so expect a late 2008 or early 2009 release for the US.

The thing is, if Sony drops the price of the PS3, MS will follow and bring the 360 down. A $200 or $300 sounds damn appealing to the mainstream I'd imagine. So a PS3 will still be considered expensive. Like others have said, only great ps3 exclusives will save it and none of those on the horizon for a long time. The longer it takes, the more exclusives they'll lose.

I have to admit. If Resistance was a launch title...I am salivating over what MGS and GTA will be like. Sure its just a shooter, but it is very crisp, especially for being a first gen game. As well all know, games get better for a system over time as developers learn how to milk the console for all its worth. Now, combine that with the financial prowess of Rockstar and the like, and you are gonna end up with some good games...logially that is. This does not account for developers dropping the ball for no reason.

On topic. I agree, the price was a bit steep. Mine was bought for me, so it didnt matter, but from my own financial stand point, $600 for a console was insane. One could justfy the price due to the Blu-Ray. A Blu-Ray player costs like $1k, so PS3 was cheaper than that. However, who needs a Blu_Ray anyway at this point (or possibly ever if the format never catches on...yhalothar laser disc).

I think Sony would be wise to reduce it slightly at this point, and put some games on the market. The more/better games you have, the more consoles you sell. PS2 didnt just beat Xbox in sales because of timing. It was also the vast amount of games, as well as exclusives, that kept the PS2 number #1 for so long, even with its power being less than that of the Xbox. Sony just needs to follow there own model from the last system. Why change strategies when your current one totally destroyed the competition?

Sony has delay alot of anticipated first party titles for 2007. Heavenly Sword, Eye of Judgement conqueror of 9 fields, and Lair are some I can think off of the top of my head, i'm assuming they are doing this because they want these games to be perfect and show the PS3 can do.

In UK, apparently the 60GB model will cost £425,
and if memory serves me correct, the current exchange rate of £/$ is almost 1:2. So that's a hell of a lot more costly over here.

UT2007 (UT3) is also supposedly coming out in 2007 for the X360, and the PS3 version is coming out in 2008. This pretty much justifies which version I'll be picking up.

Also, Polyphony squashed the Gran Turismo HD project, so looks like we'll be expecting GT5 within the next... 2-3 years.

I'm not sure why I bothered buying my PS3. I guess I'll just be happy with a Blu-Ray player for a couple years until something decent comes out. Supposedly they're putting some Midway classics on the PS Store. That'll be fun for a good couple days I guess.

My PS3 is basically a PS2 player lol, but only because my PS2 died... now I'll just keep it looking pretty until some good PS3 titles are out. (can only play Resistance for so long.)

If that was taken at 720p/1080p, it sucks compared to what IGN has.
