So it turns out these "bombs" have been up for weeks and in many cities without incident. Seattle and New York come to mind right away. I believe we can officially declare Boston the laughing stock of the world. According to a few news reports, the devices in Boston had been up for weeks without any incident.

I think they should sue whichever idiot phoned police. Some dumbass who has never seen the show, filled with fear as seems the norm and overreacts and calls police.

I guarentee you that the majority of people out there do not have any idea what ATHF is, the only reason most people here do is because you fall into the target audience of a show that is played at night on CN. How many people over 50+ do you think watch the show or have an idea of what it is?

No doubt the police and bomb squad did the right thing to get out there and find out what the 'mysterious devices' were. What I find super fucking retarded is the aftermath, the media and the mayor of Boston calling for apologies and threatening to sue Turner Broadcasting (owners of Cartoon Network). The city of Boston could have come off this looking very vigilant and responsive if they'd just dropped it. Now they look like a laughing stock.

Detonating a litebrite is retarded, they should have easily been able to see there was nothing explosive by examining it.

My point is just that I would rather have the police treat it seriously to a certain extent than write it off as nothing, which seems to be what many people were advocating.

When it was first on the news during the day, all they reported was that suspicious devices were discovered close to bridges around the metropolitan area. If their appearance wasn't suspicious enough, the location of them would make anyone wonder. It was only until later at night that the news reported where the lights came from.

So it's not like people here are idiots for being safe. Not everyone in this country (especially older people) know what ATHF or a Mooninite is. And even the bomb experts that detonated them said it closely resembled an explosive device, because of the battery pack that was attached to it. I still think it's funny as hell, and at the most, CN should have to pay whatever the costs were to detonate the objects. Those guys that set up the lights shouldn't get in trouble though.
