All of the US's forces were wiped out in the initial invasion by responding too early to the hypnotic Lite Brites. UNATCO was called in but proved vulnerable to the enchanting lights. The Greater Boston area is now New The Dark Side of the Moon, a duchy of the First Moon Empire.

Is it possible that the Mooninites are the people who suggest Pluto should no longer be considered a full-fledged planet, because Plutonians are teh suck? Oh those moon people and their villainous ways...

Anyway, I'm so sad I missed this thread... I knew about this earlier, but didn't know it was such a huge deal (okay it isn't) until today... From now on I call Bostonians Bostonites. Question to Bostonites: Do all of your leaders (now ex-leaders since the Mooninites invaded) go by the following plan:
1) Overreact.
2) Don't accept you were wrong.
3) Profit.

Other stuff: I hope this doesn't make the movie not do so well. Also, has there been any parodies of Ignignokt/Err replacing the 2 "culprits" or a (bad) attempt at making a Bostonite version of the Mooninite song?
On a not-so-related note, it's safe to say that I can rest in peace if the eleventh season of South Park opens up with a parody of this whole stupidity/overreaction. I would also like the movie to feature a parody of this, too, but I think it's too late now (read somewhere that it's about 85% done). Plus it would be too much of a contoversial move.

EDIT: Would it have been ironic if this happened in, say, New Jersey or Atlanta?

Although it's a bit ridiculous, especially if you know what ATHF is or have ever watched the show I don't think people put a lot of effort into putting themselves on the other side of it.

I guarentee you that the majority of people out there do not have any idea what ATHF is, the only reason most people here do is because you fall into the target audience of a show that is played at night on CN. How many people over 50+ do you think watch the show or have an idea of what it is?

Having no idea what ATHF is you are looking at what is a theoretically partially offensive image, since it's flipping you off, that has wiring and other electronics attached to it. Yeah sure it's easy to tell it's a litebrite, but which of these scenarios is more likely,

Caller: Hello 911, I a suspicious looking device with wiring attached near a busy road, it looks like a bomb.
Police: We'll get the bomb squad right over.

Yeah sure, they overeacted but from the police perspective better safe than sorry, even if it looks stupid afterwards. Look at all the crazy ways people make bombs and if you would rather have the police not take every precaution then knock yourself out, after all what kind of crazy person would put C4 in their shoes, that's just crazy talk!

Terrorism isn't everywhere, crazy people aren't planting bombs on every streetcorner or boarding every busy with explosives, but that doesn't mean they aren't trying to on occasion and I'd rather the police overeact to a ridiculous litebrite than end up ignoring an actual bomb because they thought it was just a joke.

After all, what harm could people possibly do with a few pairs of boxcutters?
