I don't think any of us can make that call yet on how good these sets are without knowing the full set effects yet.

Yeah, Salvage is more fun for sure, not even arguing against that lol. You can't go there every day and spend as long as you want tho. Anyway, I'm not sure what's the situation in Aery, but it's probably not that hard to leech an a.hands there if you have some friend in HNM ls.Originally Posted by aurik

I do too, and I'm aiming for it. However, like I said previously, I'm to a point where my inventory is already full of very situational gears, and I've to make choice between which pieces I carry. Generally, the gears I leave in moghouse is going to be my "epeen nuke" gears, because it's only good for screenshot on magic burst that get you killed. Even if it was 3% dmg increase, there isn't many monsters where those 3% would change anything, as you are overkilling the mobs usually by a 100-200dmgOriginally Posted by Uzor
I'm sure people will disagree with me, but m.acc/elemental (for HNM) set and enfeebling are by far the most important set on blm for me. Pure dmg usually take the backseat and is mixed with my soloing gears.
Power to you if you can carry that around, you're probably missing something else somewhere. For mobs without resist, HQ zenith is better tho, and additional mp can play a good difference between killing a mobs with 1 mp pool, or /restingAdditionally, you can use Zenith to lower HP for sorc ring atent and then switch to morrigan. Thus, they've server their purpose once again.
Morrigan legs are better than Mahatma slop. Feet are horrible for blm, but sexy for rdm as I said in my first post. You don't have to convince me or change my mind about that, we are all agreeing here.
... Do you know how to fucking read. I already said that in every of my posts. I also added in most of them "depending what the set bonus is" when I was talking about it. If you want to disagree with people's post, at least say something opposed to what they are saying, not just repeat what they know and said.Originally Posted by The guy without whm sub
You wouldnt use the set for nuking on HNM even if the bonus was 10, or 15. For pure nuking, the full set doesnt consider inventory space and sorcerer ring macro, HMP gears that you would have to keep. It doesnt have the highest amount of mp either for soloing stuff like limbus behemoth.
Awesome, you pay to not play a game.Originally Posted by Kaylia

Gives you MP, more MND than is sane, enfeebling skill (goes well with my cleric's mitts)and -emn without taking my HP. I'm all for that!
There is an awful lot of summoning skill in the set, allowing you to top up yours dependant on what other gear you have...
The pants look nice for a brd but I suspect that af+1 or relic might be better? I don't know, my BRD is 50 :D
With the body - I would wear it as I do my Cleric's to be honest. Wear it most of the time, macro in Nobles for cures and cleric's for regen III. My poor prized possesion would be deposed in favour of that. Does lack -emn but then there is so much elsewhere that it's not really an issue.
SMN being my secondary job and only being 1/5 on relic I'd prolly want the head for the skill and -emn.
I'm not sure which parts my BRD is going to want but for me the Marduk set looks interesting.
Body, head, and arguably legs (I'd argue against, others could argue for them I'm sure.)Originally Posted by Eldelphia

I'd be happy if they made salvage easier by giving each job 1 specific thing unlocked for free.
It doesn't even have to be something over powered like every mage gets magic and melee gets weapon. Like whm can get mp for free, blm int or rings, nin can get hp, war sj, etc. Pretty much a different one for each job. I think that would be cool and make it a bit easier without it being OMGBROKEN.
This is pretty much what I'd say. It's technically better to swap between Dalmatica, AF+1/Errant, Sha'ir/Yigit, and maybe even Raven on the body...if you have all of those. But Marduk body could reasonably stand in for all of them (except for lolBRDhMP), which is handy, because my inventory is nearly full pretty much all of the time. I don't have a Dalm either >.>Originally Posted by Viq
The hat is comparable to AF2; more skill is good because you can make up the CHR elsewhere. I also like the way it looks a lot better.
The pants vs. AF+1 is basically the opposite of the hat versus AF2. I'd go for the +skill; even with less CHR from the hat and the legs, a Mithra can still be at or over 100 CHR even when going for a nearly-max +skill build (i.e. everything but Minstrel's Coat, and using one of the above hats).
To be fair, you're not playing the game everyday, 24/7, (well i hope no one is like that) but that doesnt mean the time spent away from the game is money being payed to SE for nothing.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
Taking it off the extreme, most people have RL responsibilities they need to attend to everyday, so there is nothing wrong with aligning your RL responsibilities with King camp windows; be that doing homework, laundry, running to the store etc,. The way i see it, when king camp is over, you now have uninterrupted time to 'play' the game cause you took care of what needed to be done in RL already.
Didnt you at one point camp kings to get your dalmatica and cbody? There's no reason to put down people because they wanna try and do the same if it makes them happy, its their time and money afterall.
Sorry for the non-salvage related post D;
On topic though, i did put in a suggestion to SE outlining many of the same concerns most people expressed in this thread.

It's stuff that would have been done anyway, but now, I can do it while helping people get some nice gears (since I've everything I want from king camp)
That's not really different than loging in your moghouse to talk to people or idle, which is something everyone do in this game.
It's quite different.
You're claiming the best aspect of end game is standing idle in the aery, while standing idle in mog house doesn't take you 75 levels to do or join a HNMLS to do it.
Where did I made such claim? Go read my post above and point where I said something like that. I just reread that whole convo, and I'm not even sure which part could imply thatOriginally Posted by Lordwafik

Aurik: Don't want to /stare at darter
Me: It's not that bad, you can afk most of the time
Aurik: Awesome you pay to not play
Me: I spend a majority of my time doing other stuff
You: I laugh whenever people bring this up. You should just give me that money
You're claiming that camping kings isn't a boring timesink because you spend a majority of that time not playing the game during that time. It's a crazy argument, much like saying fishing isn't boring because you can just use a bot and sleep while it runs. Just because you have ways to cope with the drearyness doesn't make it less dreary.
When I have RL stuff that needs doing, I log off and do it. I don't shuffle it to inbetween Fafnir windows because I am incapable of controlling my entertainment time.
After 3 years, I can tell you FFXI is a boring timesink. I play because there is other people I have fun with while doing random stuff, not because I enjoy any form of grinding offered by the game. >_> Power to you if you enjoy meriting for 3 hours more than slacking off in aery for 1min-3h. Personally, idc either way. I will go merit when I can, and if fafnir time is up and I can do stuff while being logged on, I'm going to head there.Originally Posted by aurik
Doing missions, exploring new areas and fighting new NM is obviously more fun, but what % of the game is it? It's a minority.
You make it sound like camping HNM require some sort of dedication that is impossible to have if you can't control your entertainment time. That's not true. If you play more than a few hours a day, I'm sure there is time were HNM interval are up, and you arent doing anything. Is it really too much trouble to take a 10min to walk to aery?
Anyway, what event do you seriously consider "fun"? The way you talk about the game, you only "play" it when you do dynamis/limbus/salvage. However, you can't do that every day, and you are bound to go waste your time on something eventually.
Well now it's no longer unclear why you're poohing over doing Salvage and Salvage gears: you're addicted to a game that you no longer find fun.Originally Posted by Kaylia
You can tolerate kings because you can "play the game" without having to play the game. It's no surprise that if you actually have to pay attention for an event that you expect to be extremely well rewarded, because paying attention is less fun for you than doing your laundry while waiting for the window to roll around.
For people like me, who genuinely enjoy playing the game, Salvage is rewarding in and of itself; the fact that in this process I'm going to eventually be getting gears as good or better than the existing gears which are already practically impossible for me to get is just gravy.
I "like" Salvage. That's why I recently started a shell to do it more often and regularly. I just don't see myself being able to farm it for a long time with the currents drop rate, because it's going to become depressing really fast. Once the novelty factor will wear off and there won't be anything new to discover, it's probably going to be horribly boring. You don't seem to understand I can hate certain aspect of salvages (the one I complained about earlier in this thread), while still enjoying going there because of the exploration.
That's something I can't believe, and that's why I asked you to list me the event you like in my last post. You can't "genuinely" enjoy playing the game, not even one half of it if you abhor downtime. Camping land king is far from being the most interesting thing in this game, but compared to many other "grinding", it's not really better or worse. For people like me, who genuinely enjoy playing the game
But if you want to put it that away, I also "genuinely" enjoy the gameplay. That's why I do a ton of stuff for challenge and novelty (kill NM solo or with small number, do dynamis with 6 peoples, solo/duo/4men limbus). Those are aspect I like where skill and srategy matter, but seriously, that's not what you will be doing most of the time because you can't.
Farming dynamis and limbus (in large pt for a sure win), grinding xp, grinding gears on land king, camping NM/farming money are aspect of the game you are forced to do and that's fine with me, but they are not "fun", not after 3 years.
Why are you still playing? It's a means of entertainment, you should be doing stuff that entertains you, not log on in order to afk because it's boring.
In the last few days I've:
-done Dynamis-Bastok
-done Dynamis-Xarcabard
-done Salvage-Arrapago
-fought Kurrea a bunch
-fought Almathiea
-done a BCNM
-done ENMs
-done a Temenos run
-crafted for skill and for money
-xp'd a job
This is all since Friday, so well under a week of activities. And I had a lot of fun, without afking 2h50/3h and praying that my team claims.
