It's the zone they use for the character creation scene. And offline play isn't possible at the moment because I haven't even started working on POL.

Ok, but what is your opinion of the idea...at first blush. Is it possible to load up the game locations and interact with npc's, fight mobs, etc. etc. offline in your opinion?

Is it possible to create a program that sends similiar commands to load mobs, etc. that simulates what the server is sending?

Honestly though, it is better that the person who discovered the exploit didn't sell a program to replicate it to the CGF or other less than reputable linkshells to screw over legitimate players. Think how much it would suck if scum of the earth botting linkshells could DC their competition any time they didn't get claim.

At least he reported it right away...

Actually this was happening a lot on Remora for awhile at KB camps.. everyone but gilsellers would get DC and this was like a year ago.

It's possible, but not something I'd work on.

Aw, a shame. I'd kill for a way to do this, but I dont know all that crazy stuff about computers like you do. I use them in the recording studio, and they're powerful for all they handle, but unless Pro Tools LE has some option in it to let me mess around offline in final fantasy Im shit out of luck.

I really think alot of people would be curious about this if you did it, though...

Great so he saved us from the one in a billion chance that someone else other than him had the resources and the understanding to go around crashing people at will. Want a sugar pill? Only 100 bucks a pop.

If one person discovers it, it's only a matter of time before stupider and more malicious people do as well. We all know Taj did it for the sheer lulz of causing relatively benign chaos, and that it wasn't all altruistic. Taj played with the shiny toy, we were all amused, and it's done with- instead of someone taking that toy and using it to smack all the kids in the playground.

It's not one in a billion. Considerably less. And it only takes one of them letting the cat out of the bag to fuck over every server in the game. Be happy Taj is not only really fucking smart, but relatively benign and whimsical about that knowhow. Or we'd be seeing a reign of terror and RMT/script kiddie hell on Vana'diel. If the ability to force D/C was implemented into a program and spread like POShack or Argus, legit players would be taking it in the ass gamewide.

So yeah, I'm in the /praise Taj club here. No need to bow down and kiss ass, but this got done right.

I would play offline FFXI, if only to go through the CoP storyline/bosses again without all the bullshit and people. You know, like a regular RPG.

It may be fucking weird art, but it takes talent to draw it. If he ever did a full-scale FFXI doujin-style series, odds are they could import it to Japan and he'd be getting sales out the wazoo. Gulkeeva would be doing backflips.

Someone drawing normal porn and someone drawing furry shit are 2 different things. Normal porn sells. Furry porn is niche. No one but a furry would draw furry porn, whereas many artists, including Azuma Kiyohiko, have drawn porn simply to make money.

End result is that Fred Perry is undeniably a fucking furry, which is fucking lol.
