He found something out but odds are pretty damned good no one else was going to find it out, so by exposing it all he does is get a nice little ego boost and folks congratulate him and la de da. Look, I think he's obviously a brilliant guy, and I don't think it would be fair either to call him evil or whatever. I think he just lacks a little discipline perhaps. Sure, it was kind of funny. But don't place him on any pedestals, don't congratulate him for helping out or anything. The goal was to create a little mischief and get some attention, not to secure the gaming comminity or anything.

lol, Taj didn't do all this for anyone else's benefit. The notion that he did is laughable. He exists to break into the system, or break the system himself, and to see what he can do. He's had his helpful moments, like exploring unreleased areas and taking screenshots for the rest of us, but trying to congratulate him on his successes while simultaneously outcrying the fact that other people can exploit these flaws in the game is hypocritical at best.

Of course, that doesn't mean he owns any less. Taj is simply Taj in my mind, he does what he wants and we may or may not benefit or get owned by his exploits. Sure it's great he d/c'd a bunch of chinamen, but I bet he's used that little bug for his own personal gain once or twice.

I agree to some extent, but the people on Alla saying he's an asshole and a jerk for being "malicious" are fucking retarded as well, because if anything he prevented them from ever having to deal with this exploit in the future by getting it fixed. That's how softwre vulnerabilities work. If they exist, someone will find out about it sooner or later. And you better pray that the first person who does is the type that causes it to get fixed.

Yeah, I jumpstarted that thread off and probably came off as liking Taj a bunch but that's just because everyone was so against it. I do the same thing with /war for thf, lol. I'd rather have someone like Taj to have found the exploit than Rustymetal.

He probably doesn't give much of a shit about whether or not he (or someone else) could have used it to get what they want. Like a handful of people even have the decrypted packets or the understanding to do anything with them in the first place.
