People will debate anything, argue anything.
The fact of the matter is that final fantasy is a dead game, and this was more exciting than any other recycled bullshit event (valentines) that they do every 2 months hoping to god the rest of the players wont fully switch to world of warcraft. Hell, he probably breathed SOME life in to the game, even for a day. The game wont be around in another year or so, so why not fuck around with it now.
Impressive Taj, because noone else could do it. And before people start claiming "nah, this guy I know through another random person is elite and a hacker and could totally do this too" - if they couldve, they wouldve. Ego is a mother fucker as motivation.
There are alot of people that could do what Taj did, man. He was just quick to finding the exploit before most. This game still has over 400k players, it would be foolish to say that Taj is the only person in all of those people that could pull off shit like that.Originally Posted by Jerseyprophet

they must have, because I damn near feel asleep there for a second.
or the rest are just smart and dont tell anyone what they've figured out so they can use it to their own advantage.Originally Posted by Sho
Alright, I take back somewhat of that part and do agree to an extent that there IS a large player base and pure statistics would say someone else could.
Im not sure, but its not my main point either - that this gave excitement to an otherwise dead game.
< Smart enough to be stupid.
The game is always dead because not all 20k+ people are on all day, every day, on every server at all times, lol.Originally Posted by Nystul
The game isn't dead, but it is damn well stagnant in terms of gameplay. Most of us have already done the bulk of the "fun" here, so we get to relax, quit, and complain about the bordom.
Ive been here for a very long time chief. Ive been playing since NA release, and more importantly, been talking on these forums for years.Originally Posted by Nystul

And yep. It's dead. Let go of the memories of good friends, which is understandable, and just admit its time to hang it up.
I find it funny that people are saying that people could've possibly done this before myself. You realize it's easily traceable, if someone else did do it, it would've been fixed long before now, the fact that I was crashing everyone in Fairy's Besieged every 10 seconds had nothing to do with it, I was just trying to get GM attention before I left for class.
And to those that say out of 400,000 players, at least one is capable of accomplishing the same feats I am, you probably don't know what you're talking about. I'm not saying I'm a "leet hackzor," I've actually never broken in to a system that doesn't belong to me. But I do know my way around Windows programming, and happen to be exceptionally talented in the field of reverse engineering. If you think hundreds of other people are capable of the same accomplishments, I point only to the fact that ProjectXI team (Read: myself) broke the encryption only a day after I joined the development team. (And subsequently left when tinytaru leaked it.)
With expansion packs coming out and still having one of the larger player bases of MMOs, I would hardly call FFXI "dead".Originally Posted by Jerseyprophet
