Consumer products have been linked to a number of hormonal changes in youths leading to early onset of puberty (there was a report of some guy using testosterone cream and because of contact with his little girls they ended up menstruating at a really young age (5 or 8?)). I think the tea tree oil mentioned in the link is homologous to estrogen, and people have hypothesized that was the reason.

You'd be surprised what they put into consumer products these days. Things like placenta extract (all sorts of funky growth factors and hormones in there) can be found in some shampoos.

There was a special article in the NY Times a couple of months ago.
