These are all reasons people want Sony to be taken down a notch or three. If Sony wasn't guilty of all of the above, things would be peachy. Feel free to ridicule Nintendo/Microsoft fanboys who hate Sony for no other reason, but don't pretend Sony is in good standing with gamers in regards to the PS3, or even the PSP.

ill agree with the no must have games, but thats it. the $600 is justified and will continue to be that price for quite some time. I wont be picking one up till theres a must have game though.

I would think its very possible. Since PSP has a USB connection, im sure its possible to tweak the emus to read off of the USB thats connected to a computer instead of a flash stick. Hell, if someones smart enough, you could throw an external usb HD on it and play mass games. A lot of storage while still being portable.

See, here's how it works. Dark Alex doesn't do magic, he simply let's you load up whatever it is you want to load up, USING SONY'S FIRMWARE. Now, since Sony doesn't approve 99% of the games you try to load on your PSP, sometimes they work great and sometimes they don't (FF8 crashes every time you try to use blue magic or Scan, and FF9 lags in areas with a lot of people.)

So sure, it's possible... but I doubt that most would even be compatible, since Sony's current popstation is for PSX playback.

I realize it has the capacity to WORK with more, but right now you can't go over 4GB, hence why playing PS3 games on the PSP is impossible... and the same goes for PS2 ATM.

I'm sure that when highest GB sticks will be made available, PS2 games will be able to be played on the PSP with the right emulation, because the PSP is definitely strong enough for at least "graphically-challenged" ps2 games, if you will (aka any game that isn't the FFs. )

Hook up a 10GB memory card, install FFXI... life after that is .... hmm... too much ffxi? I actually cant wait, but as you said in your other post (right above this) the ability to play PSX games is using the firmware equipped with PSX emulation from sony, and since there are no good ps2 emulators out there, unless sony releases an official ps2 emulation into the psp firmware, its not gonna happen anytime soon. (plus the problem with how small flash0 and flash1 are doesnt help).

$600 might be justified for someone who wants to buy a cheap blu-ray player. The thing is, no one says 'yeah man, that ps3 is the shit... I was watching this movie on it the other day...'

When I pirated xbox games for a short amount of time, you could compress the dual layer (9gb) discs down to 4.7gb or less by removing or re-encoding the cinematics or sound. I'm sure it would be trivial to bring a game contained on a single layer dvd to under 4gb.

The original subject was PS3 on PSP, thats a big deal. You dont see Wii on DS. But now that the subject was changed to PS3 being able to play backups, the topic lost what it was aiming at.

For the sake of curiosity, has anyone found out how to get a PSP to display on an external device yet?

If the PSP really could play PS3 games, and it could be displayed on a TV, that would be excellent.

Can you post a link to this DarkAlex thing... playing portable FFs might be worth it for a PSP... it could essentially run any original PSX game right?

forums.maxconsole.net, you can IM me if you want me to walk you through it, but go to othe PSP section on these forums and read about it for a bit, it'll tell you how to install/upgrade/downgrade your version so you could install his custom firmwares... basically he takes sony's original legit PSX on PSP emulation, but makes it so you can play ANY iso, not just the crap that sony offers on the PS3 store.

So sure, some games are still a bit glitched playing on it because sony doesn't really work on them (like ff8 freezing if you cast scan too much, or blue magic, or ff9 that lags a bit in places with many NPCs.) But overall it's actually pretty awesome, I got 2 4gig sticks filled with all the PSX FFs, including all the remakes and tactics, so I turned it into a portable FF system pretty much.
