USB issue. Tech Gurus help!

For the longest time I've been having this issue and now that I'm trying to mod my PSP it's time that I fix it.

Basically, all my USB drives are defunct. Whenever I insert a new device it registers fine and all the "New Hardware found" bullshit pops up in the bottom right corner (even identifies the device correctly) but the device is inaccessible. I don't get a new drive letter for my PSP or Ipod but I can still play around with their properties in my device manager. Even my printer doesn't work. Any suggestions? If it matters (I'm pretty sure it doesn't), I have two hard drives on C:\ and D:\, a CD-RW drive on E:\ and a DVD-RW drive on F:\.

I have the same problem with my psp it says it is detected and working fine but it does not show up and I cannot access it. I usually plug my memory card into my digital camera and use it like a card reader to put files on my card for my psp.

Right click My Computer, go to Manage and see if it appears in Disk Management. You can change properties there. If you know how to do it through dos, that also works.

Also try pluging it it and restarting the computer.

Didn't see the tech forum, my fault (mods feel free to move). @ Seph I've tried everything through disk management, where do I go to change the drive letter?

If you do, change the letter and see if it appears in My Computer, if not restart. If you still dont see it, try formating it in Disk Management, and again restart if it doesnt appear in My Computer. Do all this without taking the drive out.

If you dont see it in Disk Management.. well, you should, if you cant something is seriously wrong.

Also, see if other usb devices are working (like ipods, gamepads, whatever). Try a different port on the system. If nothing works in that one port... bad port. If everything but the drive doesn't work... chances are possible for a bad drive.

for me everything works except my psp and the memory card i use in my psp even works perfectly fine in other usb devices like my digital camera.
