It really depend what your blm and rdm are doing. Enfeebling merit are priceless for sure when it come to soloing on blm, do stuff like limbus or dynamis (assuming you have to sleep stuff). A resisted bind/grav/sleep is far more deadly than a resisted nuked

So, if you plan to uses your blm mostly in random situation, and rdm on HNM, go for enfeebling. (5/3) If you are always going to use blm against HNM, go with elemental since are usually needed to land spell at a decent rate.

There isn't any perfect solution in this case. It all come down to what you do the most.

I'd say go balance, because each one helps both jobs anyway. You'll be a RDM with good enfeebling and above-average nuking, and a BLM with good nuking and above-average enfeebling. And trust me, RDMs love a BLM that has enfeebling merits, because being able to reliably stick Sleepga II is huge.

Pick the job you like more and go 8/0. Personally, my merits went into SMN skill.

I think that elemental merits do more for BLM than Enfeebling Merits do for RDM.

Base 276 skill, +15 from Warlock's Tabard, +4 from Elite Beret (alternatively +5 from the HQ version or +5/+6 magical accuracy from condom cap), +7 from enfeebling torque, and +3 from enfeebling earring (aka stuff you should have if you are serious about RDM) will put you at/over 305 skill which should be more than enough for any standard mobs with HQ staves and gives you plenty of room to work in stat gear.

But when it comes down to brass tacks, you only need 1 or 2 RDMs in an alliance who can stick enfeebles on the hard stuff otherwise people will trip over each other and waste MP. Every BLM who can focus more on INT and MAB because of less resists causes the mob to drop faster.

I need to go make a post on Alla complaining about enfeebling magic skill barely doing anything at 300+.

I just wanted to put down gear that anyone can get through time and/or money. Duelist's Chapeau is a tad on the inaccessible side for most folk.

8 enfeebling merits for me, but got them before BLM was 75. Thinking of dropping.

I would say... despite the fact you have rdm to 75... I wouldn't focus on RDM enfeebles for events... as people are looking for you to cure and refresh *cough*... I guess with the rank II enfeebles, there is more of a case to be made... but nin's can always slow and para decently enough...

I personally have 5 and 3 elemental and enfeebling... the enfeebles really help you to sleep in dynamis w/o e-seal... and you can push enfeebling skill above 280 to help gravity if rdm is resisted and they need to wait for timer, or if they are intimidated (hello Gration... sp?)

Also... enfeebling helps for soloing. The main reason I don't think I will go 8 to elemental, is cause it won't make a difference on 95% of the mobs that I fight on blm. As others have said there is so much elemental gear out there, that you are going to be resisted hardly at all anyway.

With near max Enfeebling gear and 3 Enfeeble merits on BLM, I can Sleep Ebony Puddings easily. It's really funny watching those e-peen BLMs who max out Elemental and run from puddings because their Gravity/Bind resisted. Even in Dy-Xarc, Demons are much easier to sleep now.

If you plan to solo on BLM, I strongly reccomend some enfeebling merits. It helps a ton in NW Apollyon as well if you want to try soloing that. I used to solo to the top as BLM, until I got both earrings I wanted and joined a group. I think most BLMs over look Enfeebling and what it can do for the job.

With just BLM AF Mitts and HQ Staves, you can kill Elemental resists pretty easily on most HNMs and stuff. I don't see the need in having 8 Elemental at all. 5/3 or 4/4 would probably be best. It depends on what you want to do I guess. Put all your skill in one set or space it out and be versatile. Personally I like being able to enfeeble random stuff inbetween nukes or when the RDMs go down for whatever reason.

Glad someone asked this question, because I've had the same issue, with a 75 blm and rdm about to get there. Still not sure what I'm going to merit, but I've mostly been nuking HNMs and in dynamis, so likely elemental...

All things considered, I'm really leaning towards 5 elemental / 3 enfeebling. I do intend to do a fair amount of soloing, and I do a lot of Limbus / Dynamis as BLM, so the enfeebling merits will help me there too. Thanks for all the input, really helped me out.

I dont' know about you but I'm maxed out merti and I've never missed a sleep... Granted I have JSE gear and Enfeebling torque...

Seriously guys, Enfeebling merits ARE WORTHLESS!!!! (if you have RDM and BLM at 75)...

Go go Elemental!! Dont' forget Frost/burn/choke etc... that's elemental skillsssss

I did 4/4 as well. Enfeebling merits are more "useful" for BLM (and rdm) as others have said about soloing, limbus, and etc.

It's a toss up either way you look at it. Personally I like doing things solo a lot, so I have considered going 8x enfeebling. But I am pretty happy with 4/4 with both red and blm leveled.

Kinda odd since I duo alot with another BLM. They have all the same enfeebling gear I have, except I they have NQ Tiara and I have HQ(Genie) and I have 3 Enfeeble Merits where as they have none.

You are saying you can Sleep Ebony Puddings 90% without ES? Because he can't and I can. He hits like 60% where as I hit 90% on sleeps. I have had many BLMs ask me how I sleep puddings so easily, so I find it hard to believe that the 3 enfeeble merits are worthless. All BLM gear is pretty easy to buy, not like I have the Enfeeble Cape or anything.

I've also noticed my Sleeps in Dynamis are far more reliable then any other BLMs'.

Ok, you can ask Hcc too if you want tho. He saw me sleeping them and even asked me how I did it so well. idk if he remembers but I thought it was kinda funny.

Also, I do fine on DL. 5 ele merits and I just use AF Hands instead of Z.Mitts. Haven't killed DL in awhile now, but I think our LS has killed him the most on our serever. Lost track of what everyone has done tho. 8 Kills by us with me pulling in 8-9k a kill iirc. I pretty much get 2-3 Full resists down to like 1-200 and the rest of my spells 900-1k+

Personally I think my BLM is pretty much perfectly balanced. I may not do the highest number damage in one nuke but you don't do any damage if you die. On top of that, I solo/sleep better then most BLM because of my Enfeebling. It also helps when I do shit like duo NMs and what not. (Amikiri,Zip,etc..)
