I grew to love FF9 more than the rest... I guess I just got attached to the storyline. FF4 and 8 are close seconds. 10 was horrible, 12 was fine except for the annoying language (I didn't even know that Judge Magister was a term and not a person until the Reddas scene in Pharos...) and yeah, I hope FF6 is good, the furthest I remember going in this game is the opera house. >.> As far as FF5 goes...I don't think I can play through it, it bores me too quickly.

EGM/1up guy Shane Bettenhausen effectively said that 10 is the 1 'must play' FF. That guy is a fucking fool, lol.

I enjoyed 9 a lot at the time, but I don't remember enough about it now to comment. The total interchangeability of 8's characters bothered me, as well. That's another FF I only went through once. 10 was uber-linear, and had crap VA, only played that one once, as well.

FF7 was pretty great at the time, but doesn't hold up to time so well, IMO. Not to mention the annoying aura nostalgic adulation that surrounds it, since most FF fans these days began with it.

FF6 is my favorite of the series, followed by 12/FFT. FFV I never really got into, though I plan to give it another go soon. I tried the import (before I could read Japanese), and then later the PS1 version (long load times...), so I'm hoping the GBA treatment is good.

FFIV, I honestly haven't played since before FF III us came out on SNES, but I was into that game in a way I'd never been into any game before... I had the Dragoon Spear and all those rare drops from the crystal palace in the moon, I had the thing from the Pink Puffs (was used to make adaman armor or something? lol I don't remember).

FF1 I played on NES for the first time around the time FF III us came out, though I don't think I ever beat it until the GBA I&II pack. I'm pretty sure I got to the point where I was about to enter the Shrine of Chaos to beat it, and then just never played it again. FF2 I played on an emulator, but again I didn't beat it until the GBA version (and actually still haven't ^^; ). FF3 I played only breifly on an emulator, but I have the DS version in the queue to be played soon.

Dunno why I just typed all that out, not like anyone cares... posting anyway.

FFX and especially X-2 should've been locked away in the head of whatever retard decided they will make a good FF game....and stayed there.

Didn't mind 10 actually, it was fun for the most part. It was a graphical overhaul for the series which was kinda cool. I wouldn't go as far as saying its horrible, its still in the top 10% of the best RPG's ever made I'm sure lol, just not as good as previous FF's.

Had zero appeal to play X-2, the concept of playing the role of females for the entire story didn't entice me at all. Thats more for the demograph of people who portray mithra's and other female chars when they are infact guys, lol.

X is actually a good starting point for people; I've gotten a lot of people into the FF games by using X. It's pretty easy to play, has pretty graphics, and a good story.

VI is still by far my favorite followed by IV. Honestly, I need to replay the PSX FF games because I hardly remember them. :/

I like 9 the most out of the Playstation games (not counting tactics =P) because, well, ignoring the fact that 7 and 8 suck, it's actually really good.

I <3 the characters, I like the overall story, I <3 the characters, I like the ability system, I <3 eiko and garnet <.< summoners ftw, and beatrix lol.

It also coincidentally has the most music that I liked. You're not alone, melodies of life, just to name a few. The only other track that I liked was Cosmo Canyon from 7 >.>

I agree on the music part... I think it's why I got so attached to the game. The music with your duel with Blank, the music that plays while you protect Alexandria with Steiner/Beatrix, the music that plays in Pandemonium after Zidane starts going emo, and the list goes on and on (like the panic music that plays during parts where you get attacked, like in Cleyra.)

I would list names instead of their descriptions, but i'm lazy... you get the picture.

The reason I didn't like X at all was because the game was too linear. The fact that you couldn't actually fly around and explore on an airship really hurt the game for me.

I like things like FF6 and FF8 where you can go on sidequests and explore by flying to various islands. FF10 was more like "you have to go here at this certain time, there's nothing to explore. lolowned."

I've always wondered if FFX was linear as a design choice or to save a year of development and millions of dollars for Square.

FFX-2 kinda got unlucky, in that its gameplay is top notch but its storyline sucks.

    FF9 was a good time.
The best part is the beginning with the fake sword fight. The music they play in that is my fave FF music ever. Called Vamo Alla Flamenco (Go to the dance).

I guess I must be odd then - I like 10, with some exceptions... Tidus needs a slap for being a pathetic whining kid for lots of it, the Lulu character never really gets developed and... lightning bolt dodging. I just love the Yuna aspect to the storyline, and visually it was the first FF game I ever played - and blew me away completely.

I like 7 as well purely for the sheer over the top SuperNova animation at the end which smacked of game engineers sitting there thinking "right we have all this space left on disc3, what are we going to fill it with lads?"

I've tried - god knows I have... but I cannot get past the Yuna in hotpants aspect of X-2... it's like Final Fantasy Barbie Edition.

Best character ever though has to be Vivi from 9 - he's just completely adorable.

The entire game has awesome music, not just the fake fight.

Oh and as for the x-2 battle system comments... I absolutely agree, the system rocks except for the fact you have to see the retarded gear swapping every time you change jobs. Too bad the storyline sucked so bad, if an actual regular FF game cast was playable, maybe it wouldn't have been that bad.

I always wonder why everyone says Tidus was emo, when Cloud and Squall were just as bad.

edit: oh and as for X-2 it's bad enough they made that piece of shit game, then they have to thrust it down our throats once more via Kingdom Hearts 2. Seriously, sometimes... Fuck Square.

    Cuz he cried.
I'm sure Clud and Squall cried too.

Meanwhile, Zidane had a single emo moment where he didn't want to cry, he wanted to kill shit. The rest of his time, he was the fuckin pimp.

I agree, at least they only had an extremely minor role in the game... if they were normal sized + had more lines, THEN I would've been pissed heh.

omfg seriously, that shit pissed me off so much.

Fuck ff10-2, the only thing that made that game worthwile to play at all was the interesting job system, which was sadly wasted on a horrible game like that.

Also to the person who liked ff10: FF10 killed the world map. That linear shit was what killed the game, the airship made me cry =(

Old school rpg map mode forever. <3
