No it's not. 360 doesn't support FULL HD yet so it actually should be blank under Microsoft's side to be factual.

I doubt any higher resolutions will be released to the public any time soon... all those insanely high numbers shown at that CES show are probably just gonna be used for business affairs for a while. (and for showoff mostly..)

Yeah, but if you have 1080p set on your 360 and play a game, your TV brings it down automatically to whatever the maximum is (1080i), therefore when you play games it's better to set your 360's settings at 720p (since well...it looks better than 1080i.)

If it does, VGA gives 1080p. And if you are trying to say the only benefit of PS3 over 360 is 1080p anyway, that is lulz.

I own neither console, but I am interested in this sorta thing, namely ideal/max resolution playing a game; I'm not too concerned about movies. From left to right, I'd assume the PS3's is the PS3 console, the power cord, and an HDMI cable? No idea what's going on in the Microsoft half outside of the 360 console, and the HD-DVD add-on, which.. isn't even for games, no?

And the 360 has a 1080p option in its settings, but will only output component? And TVs scale it down to 1080i instead of 720p? Why do they have that option of 1080p if it really doesn't do it?

Sorry for only being able to afford a Wii right now. :/ This is no console war; I want them all in due time.

PS3 supports everything up to 1080p, you can use HDMI or VGA cable to get 1080p.
360 supports everything up to 1080p, you can use VGA cable to get to 1080p on 360.
It is that fucking simple. The HD-DVD is pointless to you unless you are worried about movies.

Doesn't make a difference, because the games aren't made at 1080p and the TV/360 bumps it down anyways (to 720p/1080i, and between those two i'd take the 720p option.)

Dude listen.
You have to have a tv that supports 1080p obviously if you want 1080p.
The system is obviously going to downgrade it to the maximum resolution if the TV doesn't support it.
If you have a tv that supports 1080p then you can display a 360 or a PS3 in 1080p with the cables that I mentioned. Neither system has a benefit over another.
Does that make sense?

Being limited by the TV's capabilities certainly makes sense, but Exo's saying the games aren't actually 1080p on the 360.. which I don't see why they wouldn't be if the console can do it. It seems like you two are headed in opposite directions and I just wanted to know what the 360 could do. =x

There are no games currently out for either console that display 1080p, that might be what he means.
Either system can do the 1080p, no games currently support it though.

I know that you were talking about movies, but the 200 price tag on that stupid HD-DVD is ridiculous IMO, especially since I got the bluray on the PS3 lol...

But yeah sorry, I meant that no game had been made for the 360 this far that can display in 1080p....check the back of the covers, they say 480p/720p/1080i.
