Anyone experiencing weird comcast cable problems in the NJ area or anywhere else? Trying to blame it on the intense cold weather we had suddenly, but i'm not sure.

Cable has been flickering out for about 5-20 second spurts several times every hour. Started last night around 8pm with one big one that caused me to dc from FFXI, MSN, AIM and everything else - since then they havent dc'd me as completely but its still going on. It's nothing I am doing, i've done the whole unplug modem/router and that works for a little but then it'll just happen again in like 10min lol. After calling the moron at tech support, i found out 3% of my area is experiencing outages or something similar, she wouldnt get specific. The connection just feels slow, and fuzzy I guess. She wanted to send a guy out, but of course as usual, the problem will magically fix itself a day or 2 before he shows up, he'll get here and say nothing is wrong, and i'll be charged for the visit.

Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know any possible solutions? Could it just be the cold? Weather has affected my connection before and was wondering if it could be related again.

It sounds to me like your modem is losing sync with their network. Try to unplug the power from the modem for bout 30 seconds or so, then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, give Comcast a call and have them troubleshoot the problem.

I don't get why everyone is having so many problems with Comcast. I've had them for ages and never had any issues. It's kind of odd that so many people do, though. None of my friends or family who also all use Comcast have had issues, either.

I'm always getting disconnected at random with Comcast. Cable will work (except OnDemand which we pay for but doesn't work half the time) but my internets don't.

From what I've been told by a friend that works in tech support with comcast. Pretty much the denser the population the crappier the connection. Lucky me I live in the DC / Metro area so yes, I continually have random DC's and outages.
