I dunno on Fafhogg, we never used RNGs for that, but for stuff we tank as PLD/NIN (whose hate doesnt diminish so quick as blood tanking) I just ask the DDs and BLMs to hold on their damage almost totally for about 5minutes (time for two Sentinels and several Flashes), when I have generated enough hate to have a good advantage over them over the fight (until a failed stun followed by Gates of Hades, a rage mode or something similar comes up and takes me down on the hate line faster =D> It's usually somewhat easy to take it back though. And I dont remember our crew having to log out in many fights with this sort of planning. Except stuff that might take 1hr+.

Well you were indirectly responsible for the RNG running up to claim it fast with Shadowbind when rest of his alliance must have been afk or so. =)

After a bit of struggle, i finally decided to put LV3 stealth shot and LV3 snapshot on for Rng instead of LV3 flashy shot (Had LV2 omry but lol 7 wasted meripo). I agree with Khamsin's idea of "If the mob dies faster, more power to you

In some ways logging out -is- playing well in cases that your total DoT including the log out can actually be higher than forever being below the hate line.

Sady's two simple steps to proper enmity management (that's right, I totally thought of it first ):
    Turn up the good...
    Turn down the suck!

Know you guys don't know me but have been lurking theese forums for {long time} and decided it was time for me to get intruduced here.
I'm Toth from Sylph server and a 75BLM/BRD (and no I don't play as that combo) and part of Tekkis LS.

Always fun to see TPG get stomped by a wyrm... He seems to be truely part of the E version of mages. Funniest incedent I can remember with him was when he MPKd a whole LS with Tiamat for BR w/o a single BR member in all of A.Chasm...
With all due respect Toth, there's no call for, or class in, bragging about MPKing them on these boards... or at all. Granted it wasn't you... but still.

I would take exception to the rng/war remark but by your above comment you must have never played in sky or sea. Ranger only usefull for six mobs= lulz. Yes ranger not usefull for everthing that why i personally leveled cor.

No I didn't have him in mind at all. I know a few that are exceptional and do very well in many different situations. Sure RNG aren't the best for everything, but what DD job is the best for all mobs in the game?

    Rhetorical question.

Ummm yes i have, myself and countless others. Sorry but I was 75 RNG soon after NA release, dont give me the rarwRNG speech, I've lived the dream... And it's why i suggested the OP level another job.

Sorry but RNG is generally an under achieving job (cue ammagawd rng nerf music) these days.

The OP wanted to know what to do because he is pulling to much hate. magical answer:
Sub /NIN, get hate, tank like a man.

rng/war is akin to the Epeen BLM examples. sure better dmg with no ability to defend ones self, yeah thats a great idea.

please spare me the KI rng forum silliness.

you want a faster fight, sure rng/war.
    smart fight, rng/nin.

or just go sam/thf like the rest of us do and do nice dmg and make sure the hate stays squarely where it belongs, on the tanks. or on the brd who got in the way. thats more fun anyway.

Mobs that die fast (exp, Limbus, Salvage, Dynamis, 90% of the game) go RNG/WAR and have healers that know how to do their job. RNG/NIN was good a long time ago because their damage was basically capped no matter what they subbed. Since the nerf, RNG/WAR puts out significantly more damage than RNG/NIN.

Mobs that don't die fast (Most HNMs, Wyrms, etc) you have 3 choices:

    1. Don't go as RNG
    2. Go RNG/WAR, deal large damage, logout, take damage, or die for hate reset
    3. Go RNG/NIN (or RNG/WHM), deal lower damage over time, don't take damage.

Says the guy without a RNG 75.

NIN is not significantly lower than WAR in damage. Don't make blanket statements on something that situation will change. There's a hundred arguments for either side that will lead to semantics and faggotry. Let's skip the bullshit and get to the point - you're an idiot. Do us all a favor and get your hands stuck in a public tampon dispenser.

Is it back to the good old days when motherfuckers with zero clue try to drop wisdom cubes all up in the porcelain wishing well?

Actually I agree with what he said 100% and this is coming from a RNG75. WAR as a sub is a drastic damage boost, but the questions in this thread deal with being able to sustain that increase without causing problems.

Take you flame and go play with that tampon dispensor yourself.

Is it back to the good old days when motherfuckers with zero clue try to be assholes for no reason instead of contributing something constructive to threads?

    Depends on WAR....
    Depends on NIN....

I have out parsed "good" WARs on NIN by a couple percent....
I have come within 1-2% of fully merited well geared MNK/NIN on NIN.....and 1-2% of better geared WARs with E body type stuff, heca hat..but no ridill
Good war meaning standard hauberk, axe/axe, axe/johy wars...with decent gear no crazy HQs some heca pieces, sniper/rajas, brutal/suppa...

I will never out parse a Ridill WAR on NIN....
Now for the WARs that I outparsed with decent gear, not sure what their merit situation was but I had 6 katana merits at the time..and 4 crit..only 1 STR so /shrug

You're so right, Faranim has no understanding of basic job mechanics in HNM fights....oh wait, he actually has plenty to speak on this topic. stfu.

You missed the context, we're actually talking about RNG/WAR and RNG/NIN, not mainjob.
