    Skilling up evasion

Really noob question I know, but i'm bored in class so i'll ask anyways.

Have a 75 thf, i'm at about 235 evasion. Wondering where is the fastest or easiest place to skillup it up to max.

I have +8 evasion from merits that puts me at 243, evasion torque and boxerr's mantle, so I guess i'm kind of flexible on what my skill actually is.

shit...time for lunch, thanks for any help.

This is probably a kinda different situation, but what I do to skill mine up is go all the way to the upper part of Boyahda Tree near the Cloister of Storms, pull that Steelshell, let it beat on me in full dmg-% gear til I'm close to death and zone.

You could probably try something similar, probably subbing whm for less down time, and just going to stronger enemies.

or he could bring an xbow and spam drain bolts too. That would help him last a bit longer.

I got a lot of my final evasion skillups pulling/deathpulling in Dynamis, fighting mobs with physical AOE without shadows, and soloing or duoing Even Match or higher. It's not gonna happen very fast so just be patient and it'll come eventually.

For those last few levels, I found a RDM friend who wanted Joyeuse. Charybdis gave me three or four evasion skill levels in one fight. Go go THF tank! >.> Elegy and Slow (or Slow II, even better!) helps a lot.

When a mob attacks, it'll check if you will evade the attack. If you don't, it'll use up your utsusemi. So let a Even+ mob attack you, while you keep shadows up. Screw straight tanking stuff.

Edit - I also capped my Evasion on Charybdis. Any of your friends need a Joyeuse?

With 240~, you could probably solo the Manticores where Kukrezet(Sirocco Kukri NM, yes I know I absolutely butchered the spelling) spawns. They attack slow enough that you could easily shadow tank. Theres also a zone right behind if you need to run. They should all be EM-VT to 75. Get some exp too, maybe even a ToD.

Yep, evasion skill will level up even if you aren't hit. Just sub NIN and bring some haste gear and let a Steelshell whiff at you.

It is a bit slower than bloodtanking to get evasion skill, but it works nonetheless.

I helped a THF go from 269>276 evasion (had nin75) by letting them aggro Sea Puks (without it turning red) so I can just cure bomb her until she capped evasion (-%dmg gear). Took probably 30-45mins. Just make sure not to rest for MP near the mob or it'll change aggro to you.

This is probably the best way to do it if you can find someone to help.

Also as others have said, it takes a lot longer to skill evasion with utsuemi up. I remember on ninja It took me ~15,000 exp into 75 before it capped on exp mobs.

When people always ask me how to skill up evasion I just tell them to pull dynamis, It really does help alot. You can also go to the den and grab 1-2 puks, the black mandies, they are amazing for shield skill because they are monks and attack so fast. I would assume they would be nice for evasion just chill by the zone incase

I remember when i was leveling drk as my first job, i would always cap my evasion real quick just getting hit by whirl of rage. Thf has much much higher evasion than drk tho so i dont know if it would work as well. But if it does, just get a pt and fight deco weapons for awhile.

    Kind of off topic.

Does anyone, SAM in partic. have Parrying capped? I know it's such a bitch to level, but, SAM's have highest Parry and damn near highest Evasion. Just wondering if it's worth capping for those "OH SHIT I JUST PULLED A 1200 KASHA" moments.

You get skillups with perfect dodge on.

So yeah, blitz thru a bunch of dynamis mobs with it on and you'll get 2-5 levels lol

I've no clue if it would work, but go thf/war in Besieged. Can probably find a few mobs unclaimed. Voke them and uses your potion, you will probably get a ton of skillup. Once you're out of potion, zone out and back in for another set.

I wouldn't bother with it. It's good to have, but leveling it is simply painful

Guess over time it'll get up there. Or i'll do that RDM/BLU BT Mandy thing that people were talking about till I cap whatever RDM's is at.

Capping evasion was very simple for me, went from 225(Drk cap) to 276 in Bibiki Bay, went full evasion gear, aggroed gob blinked tanked it till i got in orange hp, and used hide. its a very tedious process, that requires alot of patience but i capped it in roughly 6 hours.. moving from higher tier gobs as my skill reached closer and closer to the cap.
