So whats next? SAM without WAR sub, that they it sucks and THF sub is far better because they can do "ZOMG 300 SA KASHA" on Tiamat?
Oh, wait a sec...
For you all that can't "understand" divisor's WAR sub... you should feel lucky. It's not your character! So you can go to bed tonight free of worry.
Anyway... that formula is pretty neat. I think someone needs to teach a FFXI Math class. So much cool stuff. :D
Sorry if I let you down, lol. But it's no secret that my WAR sub wasn't levelled, nor has it ever been a secret. I guess you have to question why your ideals depend on such meaningless measures as whether or not someone has a particular sub levelled even when they don't like using that sub. for sky gods I still prefer /NIN. Why? Because if I'm eating meat and I use a quick Feint on the mob, I can still produce higher numbers on WS than if I were using any other sub in the game, due to the offhand hit and the possibility of a Triple Attack on the offhand. It's hard to imagine to anyone who doesn't have the weapon at their disposal, but switching to full time Mercy Stroke requires a largely different playstyle than before the weapon skill was accessible. It took me a few weeks with the mandau before I was able to start outparsing people in merit parties, but after getting used to it, I can now outparse just about anyone except a well equipped Ridill WAR, with the occasional extremely well equipped random melee who I go back and forth with. I recently parsed a merit PT where I actually did go /WAR, and my average WS was around 1,050 compared to when I went /NIN against the same mobs and my average WS was over 1,500. It goes back to the DoT vs. epeen argument, but frankly when you've been playing this game as long as I have, I want epeen screenshots.Originally Posted by Starr
The /NIN and high WS argument applies for almost all Jailers except I don't even need Feint becuse their evasion is already low. For Jailer of Love and Tiamat (even though we rarely do Tiamat anymore) I'm usually helping pull adds, so /NIN helps prevent me from dying on the way home from the pull.
The only place where the argument holds any water at all is on mobs that I often hit for 0, and the only thing that comes to mind at the moment is Kirin. In any situation where you're fighting mobs that you don't hit for 0 on, it's purely a matter of playstyle and personal preference. Imposing one's own playstyle and preferences on someone else in such a haughty pedagogical manner as many people like to do, when they don't even have firsthand experience with the subject they're talking about (namely, /WAR vs /NIN with a mandau) is just as bad or worse than their image of how I must be in my strong preference towards /NIN.
The debate is tired and old, but the bottom line is that even if I did level it to 37, I would almost never use it for the simple reason that I don't like it and I don't have as much fun playing it as I do other subs. And I play this game to have fun, not to conform to meaningless standards or expectations that I don't necessarily agree with.

and since yours is 29 wouldn't lvling it to at least 35 help your test/capping Attack, as well getting the extra STR?
otherwise nice testing.
Yea, but buying a few pieces of gear from the AH takes less than a few days.Originally Posted by Lysithea

Although I firmly believe that war is one of those jobs that everyone should have lvled to 37, as are whm (38 even) and nin.
The intelligent people are sitting back analyzing the data.... And generating intelligent responses.
The morons are harping on the subjob.... Because they have nothing intelligent to add.
/sigh
Depends. When I used /WAR in merits the other day for the purposes of testing I had no problem staying alive. We had a good WHM though and a Gjallarhorn, so healing was never an issue. On the other hand, I wasn't happy with my parse results and I think I would have parsed higher on /NIN. And it wasn't because of -10 Attack from not being Lv. 30 either. It's just that close to 50% of my damage comes from Mercy Stroke, and when you're gimping it so much, I don't think Berserk and Double Attack is near enough to compensate. I'll parse against Archain one of these days with him on /WAR to settle it once and for all. He beats me by about 1% when we're both on /NINOriginally Posted by NynJa

-.- i'm noting on the sub, for the attack bonus since that is what he was going for and even being a five minute ability can still do other tests otherwise using /DRK for Souleater Last Resort and the attack bonus that they get. Combining the gear that he bought plus the attack bonus and the other job abilites to even see if they would trigger the triple damage on the dagger would be nice to see no? or did i completely miss the formula with have the max STR and Attack?
Ooooh, nice comeback. I'm going to pull the "I'm not the one who wasted his linkshell's time and dynamis currency" card. going to school now, later.Originally Posted by divisortheory
