If SE did that, I would seriously play PUP. I find PUP's concept fun, and for some reason, since it was announced on the Fanfest, I've always thought it should have been a solo job.Originally Posted by Damane
I think the item is going to be the glory crown. Its affects should vary by the job you are when you wear it. Therefore there is no arguments about what item you should get. However, maybe there will be a second item, one for players who have completed AN + ToAU stuff + a quest, much like AN. Probably a ring to keep your CoP ring company, much like how DM and AN both give earrings. Then we get a body piece for the Far East (and neckwear for its AN), handgear for the Far South expansion (and backwear for its AN), leg armor for the Far North or West (and a belt for its AN), and shoes for whichever comes next (and eternal stat boosts that you can alter). Then FFXI-2 comes out and it takes place 2 million years into the future.

I would imagine they would stick with a location that isn't occupied by an AF piece. There are already so many outstanding pieces of gear at the head position that making "one hat to rule them all" would obsolete things like the RDM chapeau and BLM pointy hat, which are kind of integral to those jobs' very identity.Originally Posted by Sagacious Sundi
Rather than gear, I would really like to see some new character ability opened up with the completion of ToAU. Whether it be more merits available in already existing categories, more merits in new categories (+ movement speed, anyone?), one added special ability for your job (i.e. BLM casting Ultima, SMN being able to summon Alexander), whatever.
I've already got too much situational gear and not enough inventory. Let's change things up.
That would be one of the best things they could do, fuck new things that would be situational, to be able to get/re-obtain DM earring would be one of the best rewards they could offer (or allowing for a second one, so yeah...that would own).Originally Posted by Khamsin

But seriously, the crown is my guess too.
While I do like the sound of these pieces, the Judgmental Necklace is just a bunch of torques rolled into one. Then again, any Refresh piece would be fantastic in that slot :DValhalla Necklace (named after Odin): Lv75 Neck, All Jobs
Raises all native weapon skills by 10, Adds Regen effect.
Judgment Necklace (named after Alexander): Lv75 Neck, All Jobs
Raises all native magic skills by 10, Adds Refresh effect.
That was pretty much the point when I came up with it. For the melees, the weapon skill bonus to all their native weapons is the real kicker, because it'll work with all their melee jobs. The Regen is just fluff. For the mages, the main reasoning to choose Judgment is the Refresh in a slot that doesn't normally have it. The magic skill bonus just cuts on macro space mostly.Originally Posted by Toth
The idea was basically to give mission-based rewards that become more "full-time" pieces rather than situational macro-in pieces.
Tanks though, have a harder debate on their hands. Choose a Refresh neckpiece (hiya PLD and NIN/DRK) or a weapon-based neckpiece?
PLD would have a rather easy choiceOriginally Posted by Jeryhn

I'ld like to say crown, but I don't think that it's going to be that. Here's why:
They've added 8 armor-sets which include the head slot.
It would have to be generally less useful than Maat's cap.
Personally, I'm guessing ring, back, waist, or neck. Of those, I'ld bet against neck b/c one of the main prizes from sea are the weaponskill torques, and the ToAU completion reward would have to be better than those. Waist would be interesting, but I'ld bet that they'ld probably be worthless b/c they wouldn't want to upset the value of speed belts & black belts. Back..There's not a lot of really useful gear for the back, so that's probably in. They also don't have a 2nd ring.
That said, It's also possible that they might add a weapon for completing ToAU. Of course whatever it was it would have to be less good than a relic weapon.
I hear PLD complain all the time that they have too much MP regen, and would rather have more meriting options.Originally Posted by Priran

Jeryhn's idea would pretty much make all Sea Torques useless, though. <_< Well, aside from the +stats which could be useful for macroing in (Fortitude for VIT, Justice for STR, and Prudence for INT).
But yeah, I like the idea of neckpieces.
Maybe something along these lines:
Melee Torque:
STR +5, Accuracy +5, Attack +5, Store TP +5, Haste +3%
Tank Torque:
HP +20, VIT +5, Shield Skill +10, Parrying Skill +10, Enmity +3
Mage Torque:
MP +20, INT +5, MND +5, M. Atk Bonus +5, M. Acc +5, Enmity -3
In all likelihood, however, they won't give us any of this, and instead will let use our Glory Crowns, which will give some sort of base stat and skill increase depending on your main job.
And it'll be so potent that EVERYONE will wear it, so that we have Walahra Turban v2.0 everywhere.
Ugh Therin, way to make a full time PUP and veteran BLM make an oh-so-tough decision
I'd still go for the mage piece
edit: I saw you changed it from 10 MAB to 5 MAB....hmmm....well, its not as good as a Uggy Pendant under 50%. That makes it a harder choice.
Why would even a tank ever take the +3 enmity one over the +3% haste one? Esp. since no other neck armor gives haste?
Maybe if it was -3% damage +3 enmity?
Yeah, I thought about Novio being +7 MAB and I figured that +10 on a neckpiece fulltime would be a little broken. >_>Originally Posted by Toth
3% haste wouldn't do NEARLY as much for a tank as all of the stats on that tank Torque, especially considering tanks already have access to, and use such pieces as: Walahra Turban, Homam hands/legs/feet, Swift Belt/Speed Belt.Originally Posted by Tordall
All of that stuff plus Haste and March and you basically never get hit anyway (which is kind of destructive, as a PLD/NIN you WANT to get hit at least some, so that you can cure yourself for hate) unless something is spamming AoE, and even in that case I'd prefer the +enmity and defensive stats of +10 Shield skill and +10 Parrying (not to mention that lolvit!).
Inventory Space+ is the best stat any item can have. Some mages could also benefit from skill increases when they wouldn't otherwise have becuase they couldn't carry the torques.Originally Posted by Toth
It's a really nice idea and I'd welcome it if S-E did, but they won't because this would completely "invalidate" Lumoria torques except for those that wanted to pick the mage torque.
I agree with the sentiment that the reward shouldn't be something that competes with artifact armor, but I'm pretty biased because I like my hat.
Edit: Saw Therin's torques. I like those a lot.![]()

A combined torque would likely fucking own for mages! Not so much for melee that allready have sea torques and gorgets. For tanks I suppose it's debatable depending on the stats (-% damage taken vs lolVIT).
The crown I dunno... There's no way it will outclass Maat's cap, that's for damn sure. Giving it variable stats based on current job would be pretty sexy, assuming SE doesn't totally shit the bed with what stats they give to each job (loDRK with +MAB)...
What I'd really like to see is a permanent runic portal pass. That would be amazing.
3% haste is also 3% enmity (or more if you've got other haste) b/c it lets you cast again sooner. Esp. if you're getting hate from something like mazurka.Originally Posted by Therin
My point was mostly that you added something that isn't otherwise avalable to the melee torque, but not for the tank-torque. -% damage would be a much nicer reward from a slot that otherwise doesn't get it. There's already a +3 enmity torque for the neck slot.
As I said slightly earlier, I don't think torques are likely. I think it's much more likely that we'll get a 2nd ring, belt, or back armor. The stats would be slightly off-beat, but useful.
E.g. New mage ring would have MAB, HMP and Conserve MP, new tank ring would have -crit hits, +enmity (it's a tank ring), and +mdef, and new melee ring would have +crit hit, +atk, and -enmity.
Those rings wouldn't be directly competative with anything that's already in use, and might present a dilemma to people that get them as to what they should be using.
Of course, knowing SE, whatever they give to beastmaster will include huge amounts of racc and ratk.
