I think the most simple way to describe what needs to happen to FFXI would be when blizzard went from 1.09 to 1.10 patch on diablo II. I remember that patch changing the entire game making it alot more challenging than what it was.

Making kings actual kings, they should not be dying to 6-8 people.

I'd like to see some AV-strength monsters with an actual trick to killing them, things that wouldnt be able to wipe 25-30 people out all at once with an instant Meteor...but something with a few aspects of equal strength to AV, with the ability to be controlled under certain circumstances (tricks to killing it lolz). AV is a fun fight just because its like a "how long can we last before he rapes us?" thing, and sometimes then collective exp loss is just more hilarity when you think about how fucking crazy SE's development team must be to have this mob, who drops some pretty nice items, thats utterly unkillable and they've gone to great lengths to make it that way.

Random thought: speaking of kings and shit being too easy, wtf @ Khimaria. Totally needs more (like.. more than fucking 0) true sight mobs at the actual spawn point and needs to be harder. Linkshells on my server sit at the gay camp with a goddamn holding party and actually wait for days at a time. Boo at the pussy cousin of Cerb =/

You state this as if Cerb can't be stalled indefinitely with low numbers. :\

That's exactly my point. You shouldn't be able to take down a sought after hnm with low numbers; and I'm pretty sure people have killed cerb with as low as 6-7 people.

I can't think of a single mob in the game that can't be held with 6 ppl...that is competitive anyway..

Yeah I would feel proud if I spent that much dynamis currency to deal dmg comparable to 2-3 Garudas as a Tank job for no added hate whatsoever instead of, say, maybe, enhance Tanking by getting Aegis.

But hey what do I know?

For making HNM fights more exciting.

I have always wondered why KB doesn't have Chainspell or any other nice abilities. That would so make that tougher to do then having a PLD kite it for 30ish min while 5-7 BLM take it down.

Also give Nidhogg true Mighty Strikes not the panxy MS he uses atm. And maybe give Aspi hundred fist or so maybe something else for those 2 "HNM"s.

With todays merits the Kings are no-more then pawns.

Is called Blms...a couple of competent blms could kill the elementals by rotating sleeps, aspir, nuke...not difficult at all, would just make it instead of say 30 mins kill with small numbers possibly 40 mins instead.

not if they are 5min repops and if it was raining 90% of the time ;x would also cut his rage timer to 30mins.

    Um...

Nidhoggs "2 hour" is not Mighty Strikes do not know why people think that.....

The strength of it increases as his hp decreases..

    it does several things:

    1) Increases his attack power (he caps at 768 per hit (non crit) at lower health using this...thats surely more than Mighty Strikes would do for him)

    2) Increases his defense
    3) Increases his evasion
    4) Increases his magic resistance..

It basically buffs all his stats...by a little at first then by a shit load later on..

Any nuke after his 2hour is pretty much guaranteed resist, any WS almost guaranteed miss or 0 damage..

Ive even done Eagle Eye shot for 0 right after he 2 houred...

So yeah its not Mighty Strikes its alot more buff (but its very short duration 15 seconds tops I think)

I totally agree with most of the above posts.

Zilart Kings should be buffed to the point where a full alliance of well equiped, fully merited players still have great difficulty to kill them before the 1 hour rage timer runs out. For the quality of their drops, even the best and most experienced HNM shells should wipe from time to time due to the shear difficulty. The place holders should also be buffed significantly. In a perfect world they would also be instanced to counter botting.

CoP Wyrms could also use a boost in the loot pool, their difficulty is respectable as is.

ToAU HNM are a perfect example of stepping in the WRONG direction! Easy HNM with shitty drops...

    Am I saying your wrong?
I don't know I haven't been present for that many Fafnir or Nidhogg kills.

There's an old saying called "If Rocl is AFK or offline, it will pop and it will drop"

(Really I just mentioned that because I'm bored, and somebody will use it against you eventually)

Just curious as to Nystuls objection with what I posted...

Then I saw your post and the sarcasm meter was going haywire o.O

Have you ever tried to fool the mobs into thinking your afk to pop and drop and have you had any success?

I've tried but it's never worked.
I've been paid to go afk before though.
It did pop, but not the wanted drop was had.
