Mercurial Kris/Pirate's Chart fight

Created account just to ask this for some reason.. but what are everyones experiences on the drop rate of mercurial kris from pirate's chart fight?

I started soloing the fight yesterday because I'm broke and need some money, and was just wondering how long I should expect to go before a drop (0/4 so far).

Will it be 1/20, 1/100, 1/1000? what kind of odds can I look forward to?

In my personal experience, I'm 0/5. Reading about it on several forums and talking to people on my server, I'd say the average is 1/20.

I'ld also say that 1/20 is about right.

The rate at which you get charts from trading marlins to Zaldon seems to be related to your fishing skill too.

my fishing is 73 atm, and so far ive gotten charts pretty well, mostly between 10-15 fish and some earlier, longest was maybe 25ish?

have my 5th chart ready, but waiting for 2 hour so i can do fight again

From my experience that's alot better than "pretty well", I think I was around 0/50 on charts when I gave up.

0/30+ took a 'break' with the intention of starting up again later, but this was before the dagger update.

I'll probably do it again when I need more alb. rings.

update: 0/5 now, last chart took me a couple more fish than usual. but at least its nice knowing that my plan to lvl smn to 20 and do the fight solo after i saw the solo video online paid off... especially considering that i couldnt find a pt at all and lvld smn to 20 solo :X

My group that did it was 2/15-20 or so. I think we got lucky, heh.

I've helped some friends with the fight, I've maybe done around 10-15 times and have seen it drop twice. However, that was some time ago, drop rate could have changed, or we were just very lucky.

woo 1/8 , that was so needed after i was about to give up when needing to trade like 140 marlins for that chart... but now i can afford to lvl again! I recomend this to anyone who needs money or a fun item to play around with (screw that i just put it straight on AH lol)

edit: if anyone wants strat or anything just pm me or search "ffxi smn solo" on youtube and its the first video, its so easy to solo im amazed more people dont do it.

edit edit: oh yeah, if anyone wants a kris on garuda ill be happy to oblige /tell Kiyala

2 smn + blm works too :D

Just so people know, it's also easy to win with two /WAR and a WHM, no 2hrs needed. Each person fishes up one item during the first 30 seconds of the fight, and each item kills one mob's Hundred Fists. (One of the two kinds of Snares de-activates the 2hr, the other kind makes them hit for 1 or 2 dmg per hit for a minute) Then just have the better-armored /WAR attack the crab and voke the sahagin, and the better DD of the two kills the Kraken. Kraken and Crab usually die around the same time, then both kill the sahagin. When I do this fight, we bring 2-3 charts, and a 5k Hi-Pot tank that we don't REALLY need, but just use so we don't need to bring great gear.

We usually get people xping nearby telling us we'll die without a SMN. Then I get to laugh at them when we win without any problems. Good luck!
