    Tiamat fly / ground times?

Exactly how long does tiamat fly and stay on the ground.

I've been told 3 minutes each, wiki says two minutes each.

    Any ideas?

I'd say slightly longer than 2 minutes each (its spellcasting tends to slightly delay its flight time). I can land 3 Bloodpacts when its down.

seems like its around the same as Ouryu, maybe slightly longer...Sentinel recast with capped merits barely kept up with both Tiamat / Ouryu land/flight times at 4:10 so im guessing its like 2 minutes and 5 seconds for each

i think its something like 2 up 3 down- but thats a guestimate. The times can probably vary a bit due to spellcasting/stun/etc

Long story short, if you manage to do 10,000HP of damage to a Wyrm while it is airborne, it will land automatically regardless of time spent in air. Now this may seem a bit ridiculous as 10,000HP in less than 2 minutes is pushing it; however, we've done this so many times now that we are 100% positive this is true. We saw this on 2 seperate mobs on multiple occassions.

Then if he does two on the ground and two in the air, could you possible 4 man tiamat with BLM/NIN's with fire resist builds? Banking on the fact that you can keep him slept at all times on the ground and nuke freely in the air?

    Tiamat flys for 2 minutes
    Tiamat lands for 2 minutes.

If you're maxing out fire resist, how do you intend to deal damage?

    don't forget

a - tiamat will start to resist sleep after a certain time
b - your assuming that your nukes from your blm don't get resists, and you will get resisted

summoner's and SATA cannonball the best things to toss at Tiamat. lol.

Air/earth elementals will also aggro and possibly corse too. You will also likely get Gm'ed for holding if you are on a server with contested Tiamats. Tebbad wing will rape you. I could go on.

Black mage probably can't get enough fire gear for a proper tanking setup, and you'd still need whm and brd for barfira and carol.

We were able to do 10,000 damage in under 2 minutes and land it with just 4-5 BLMs as DD. I don't know who exactly claimed that SMN, BLU, or melees were hands down the better DD on Tiamat but I think they are mistaken.

At 335 Elemental Skill gear + thunder thrednoy, I got about 1/4 nukes that did not hit full. A 4 nuke does about 500 for me in ES gear. An Elemental Seal burst II in attack gear does about 750. Basically we just rest on ground and get maxed MP then get up when it goes airborne and blast it. That's about 1000MP to blow on average at about a 2.50-3:1 damage per MP used ratio (or 2500-3000 damage per BLM). This easily lands Tiamat in almost a minute. My LJ has a lot of stuff about how we do it this way from the first couple fights to how we do it now (and how we discovered 10,000HP lands it). This method is so effective it's frankly makes the fight boring as hell - it cant TP on the ground, TP in the air doesn't hit mages or break 100 on tank, BLMs just rest then get up and nuke w/o thinking until MP is gone, etc. etc.

Even better, because you'd be using 3-4 BLMs as your DD source, adds become very simple - which would not be the case if you were relying on any other DD source to also cover adds fully. Then add the fact that every DD now has a stun which can save the tank if he screws up...

Every LS has their own methods and Tiamat isn't exactly the hardest thing out there nowadays, but I have a hard time agreeing that BLU or SMN wins in this situaiton. The only downside to this strategy is it's boring as hell - you can easily kill in under 40 minutes with 18 and win in under 2 hours with as little as 11-12. It does require a fairly good amount of support for the tank in order to support the BLM hate though.

I won't say this is a 'better' idea than using BLUs and SMNs because there are groups that have #s and can gank Tiamat in 20ish minutes, but it is a brutally efficient (and I'll admit boring) way of farming/killing Tiamat quickly and with low manpower.
