In Christiansen's defense, he is being compared to Ewan fking McGregor.

100% agree with you. Ewan McGregor made Episode 3. He took all of the shit leading up to the end in Ep. 1, 2, and early parts of 3, and turned it into raw emotion that perfectly ended the prequels and opened up the 3 original movies.

idk how else to describe it, but his acting was just so absolutely amazing that he sold the entire series all over again to me, which was a near impossible task considering how fall it had fallen. I agree the rest of the acting was pretty shitty, but he saved the franchise.

1- Darth fucking Maul, complete with Liam/Ewen
2- Geonosis
3- Ending scene, Ewen made it what it was
4- Death Star "attack run", the "birth" of Harrison Ford's Han Solo
5- Battle of Hoth, AT-ATs ftmfw
6- Vader vs. Luke (J.E.J's voice was really the best part, i dislike mark hamel)

In all seriousness, Ewen McGregor carried Episodes 1-3, Hayden Christiansen just kinda played himself IRL. Episode 1 was very childish, but the kid Anakin Skywalker was so much better than the adult version, even if it was a child actor. There could've been a better Padme than Portman, but she did an okay job at it...the second one was probably her best performance.

Ewen's performance as Obi-Wan embodied and gave tribute at the same time to that older version (idk who played him) because you could feel he was a teacher and a dear friend to Anakin, and you could really see the emotion of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Sith, not just "oh Ewen McGregor looks pretty upset". They're all good films, some more than others....but yeah im more of an Indiana Jones fan...Harrison Ford ftw lol.

That has alot to do with Hayden Christianson not being a very strong actor.

Lucas didn't direct any of the original Trilogy, and if you were going based solely off writing I would honestly put Raiders of the Lost Ark or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade above Empire in terms of pure writing.

And this is why the three most recent movies had such crappy acting. Lucas can write, but he couldn't direct kids over a crosswalk, much less a full-on movie. If he'd had the lack of ego to actually get a real director doing the work, we'd have been kowtowing at his feet for three MORE good movies, instead of wanting to toss him down the reactor core with the Emperor.

The Indy films...hell, they could put Ford in a walker and fedora and I'd watch em. Even the worst Jones movie beat most of the SW prequel trilogy as a whole, and all of them for anything resembling acting.

Most of the Star War films, though grand in scope and ambitious for their times, were pretty damn aweful when compared to just about anyother "incredibly good" movies you can compare them to, in just about every aspect possible.

I almost regret the fact that they were so popular, because it was only at a time when bad acting and terrible storytelling could be overlooked for pure awe-inspiring visuals. You guys think nowadays they concentrate too much on visuals, at least we call a shitty, flashy movie out when we see them in 2007. Back then you throw up anything new with some cool new graphics (even if its animatronics) people would fall over themselves for it.

In the end, though ahead of their time in some aspects, the whole Star Wars Trilogy to me was a failure as far as movie going goes. Hayden is actually a very good actor and if you've seen him in anything else you could tell its the fault of the directors. Same goes with Portman. Hell she acted 100 times better when she was 10 in The Professional.

Just my opinion of the trilogy, not to say I didnt enjoy them somewhat when I saw them, but seriously they dont stand out in ANY way among my other favourites. Then again Im not much for cliched plots.

To me the story of temptation, redemption, and loyalty to the end in Jedi was more powerful than the other two films. The events in Jedi really made me feel like I really was witnessing the end of an era, which it was. The message and theme rang true and clear throughout the whole thing, even during the rather meh Ewok parts. There was always that sense of urgency and a ticking clock. Jedi is what I went back to after each part of the prequel came out and made me wonder why the fuck I ever liked Star Wars. I hate Lucas so much for making that filth and I hope he dies a lonely pauper for it.

If no other reason it gave us pod racer on n64 which freakin OWNED.

Episode 3 was worth watching, and Episode 2 just to explain whats happening in Episode 3.

i am a huge fan of the first three films ('The Originals') ad i agree with most of the general consenus. The last three were generally ok they just suffered from some major flaws.
Chief among them being, a poor choice in directors, even poorer choice in many of the actors (haden was a terrible choice).

Although i did like the plots of the three movies they were just terribly executed.

anyway, i think my order would be
1 - Return of the Jedi (for all the stuff between Luke and Vader)
2 - Empire (Luke finds out who his father is, what fucking movie has a better ending. 'Luke I am your Father' 'Noooooooooo' *leaps off landing into the unknown*)
3 - Star Wars ('I want to be a jedi like my father was before me')
4 - Phantom Menace (Liam Nielson is great in this)
5 - Return of the Sith
6 - Attack of the Clones

You could kinda take that to imply that Qui-Gon (sp?) and Obi-Wan kinda went against the council after they said Anakin was not to become a Jedi, and decided they were going to do it regardless.

Maybe like, "Yoda thought he shouldn't be trained, I took it upon myself to train him anyway."

I personally think A New Hope is the best out of all 6
And I think Revenge of the Sith is better than The Empire Strikes Back (that one is gay).
A New Hope just has everything you'll ever need in the whole Star Wars story:
Obi-Wan, Birth of Skywalker as a character and why he became who he did, Han-Solo owning shit (best part), Light Saber battles, Death Star blowing up.. it's just perfect.
Any chance Spielberg does 7-9? I know Lucas already said he wasn't.
