I'm pretty sure that in the SAM AF quest, Gilgamesh said that Norg was founded based on survivors of the attack on Tavnazia. And after they fled thats where they settled.

May not have been the SAM AF quest, but I definetely recall him saying so.
It's also said in the RotZ section of the manual. It all makes perfect sense: Aldo is Tavnazian or something, he's the leader of the Tenshodo (although I think the Tenshodo was run before the destruction of Tavnazia, I can't recall who was the leader then); Tavnazia dealed with trading with exotic nations (mentioned in the CoP website), particularly the Near East, Far South, and Far West, although the Tenshodo is quite the opposite: Seems to mostly deal with illegal trading in Sando/Bastok/Windy/Jeuno/Far East.

Also, I don't think monk is Far Eastern, since multiple text says SAM/NIN are from the Far East, but I don't think any says MNK is. Perhaps Bastokan? And then those Bastokans spread throughout the world and the MNK ones found the Far Eastern nation(s).

Nid/Faf not really elemental. From what I recall, the breath isn't resistable by Fire gear from last conversation we had in LS (feel free to correct); and Wing etc would be more Dark based than anything else (Blind effect). Could be said he's literally a ground Wyrm, and Vrtra only stays on the ground because she's stuck underground.

I seem to remember monks being from the Elvaans in Davoi. I think it's mentioned in MNK AF quests. I don't really remember, it's been a while since I did them.

I thought it was from the Elvaans in San d'Oria? Since I think I recall reading about "San d'Orian monks" that developed the fighting style.

With all those Fire attacks, it's a Light mob only? >.> Has to be Fire as well. I'd also have to call Fafhogg Fire as well, simply due to thier high ass resistance to Ice and Fire spells.

You gave me an idea to compile the origin of all the jobs:

    WAR - Galka?, Altepa?
    MNK - Elvaan?, San d'Oria?
    WHM - Elvaan?, San d'Oria?
    BLM - Tarutaru, Windurst
    RDM - Elvaan?, San d'Oria
THF - Mithra?, Far South? Kazham?
    PLD - Elvaan?, San d'Oria
DRK - Galka?, Altepa? (Probably didn't use black magic until magic was discovered by Tarutaru)
    BST - Tarutaru?, ???
    BRD - ???, ??? (Humes?)
RNG - Mithra?, Far South? Kazham?
    SAM - ???, Far East
    NIN - ???, Far East
    DRG - Elvaan, San d'Oria
SMN - Tarutaru, Windurst (Karaha-Baruha probably helped the job to become what it is today, but he didn't "invent" it)
    BLU - Humes, Aht Urhgan
    COR - Elvaan?, Ephramad
PUP - Galka/Humes, Aht Urhgan (The Hume prince was probably the first PUP, but Ghatsad created automatons)

    EDIT: *Discraceful SMN*

Yes, lesser wyrms are fire-based, but they're not elemental like elementals, avatars, Shijen, and greater wyrms are. As for Bahamut, I'd say he's "special" elemental like Meteor/Comet are. If anything fire, because his 3 signature abilities (I consider Megaflare his lv.65 Blood Pact, and Gigaflare/Teraflare his Astral Flow/Prime BP (not sure for which, probably Gigaflare = Prime & Teraflare = AF)) are fire-based and the only elemental nukes he uses are fire spells. Or he could be "light" elemental (light/fire/wind/lightning) since the majority of his spells are fire, then light, then wind, then darkness-based.

Actually, it's both. The monks were San d'Orian citizens, but their monastery was in the village where Davoi now sits(hence the Monastic Cavern).

egh they better start putting these out fast if they want to keep interest within the game. I would come back if there was an expansion worth checking out.

Thanks. You're right that I left it out (*ashamed to be a SMN*; ; ), but I don't think he's the first. He probably popularized and boosted the job, though.

Magic, including White Magic, wasn't invented by any of the nations... so finding the origins for those type of jobs are pointless.

Your chart is rather flawed. Some jobs are concepts(Fighter, Ranger) and some jobs are specific fighting styles that can only be acquired in one way(Dark Knight, Puppetmaster).

Also, just so it's made clear, Tenshodo is a group and Norg is a port, they are not one and the same. Tenshodo just makes money in Norg.

Well, I just classify Bahamut as Light with light allied attacks; Bahamut is one of the other Terrestrial Avatars, like Carby, Fenny, and Diabolos, and those are all light and dark. /shrug Just sorts that way in my head.

I see the point on Faf/Nid though, I just classify him sort of as non-elemental because there isn't a resist build up you can put together to make his attacks null. It's hard to say something is a particular element because he's strong/weak to a particular other element, kinda... Thunder works on Jorm, after all. And you can land Burn on Faf/Nid... so...

I'm only going for which of the races/regions (ignoring beastmen and Ancients) "discovered", so for magic users it's for the race/region that fully learned how to utilize it. I did figure there is no particular founding for generic jobs that just require a type of skill like WAR (general fighting), THF (stealing, speed), RNG (aiming, hunting), etc. rather than more specific stuff like SMN (making a pact with an avatar), BLU (becoming like a chimera?), PUP (getting an automaton buddy), etc. I guess you could say it's where those skills were found the most (i.e. you're more likely to see Galka being a WAR than a Taru).

As for Tenshodo/Norg, yes, they're not the same, but they're partners or whatever. Also, isn't Lion a Tavnazian refugee?

EDIT: Nice point with BST/Pit, but I think there was a profile about an ancient Taru BST.
