Still my avatar on my LS forums, since we had a guy swearing by Ku for the longest time and now I've turned him into a Jin addict. Sweet victory.

edit: I love how in all the frames he's in a different pose (à la blade:ku) and then on the last one he's KO.

ok, Question from someone who is 71NIN 65THF:

    Blade: Ku,
    Modifiers: STR:10% ; DEX:10%
Five-hit attack. Accuracy varies with TP.

    Dancing Edge
    Modifiers: DEX:30% ; CHR:40%
Delivers a fivefold attack. Accuracy varies with TP.

    Blade: Jin
    Modifiers: STR:30% ; DEX:30%
Delivers a three-hit attack. Chance of critical varies with TP.

    Evisceration
    Modifiers: DEX:30%
Delivers a fivefold attack. Chance of critical hit varies with TP.

Post evisceration update, why isn't Evis considered to THF like Blade:Jin is to NIN?

:Jin is universally considered better than :Ku, despite only 3 hits, it has a better damage modifier and Crit modifier on TP. Evis loses the CHR mod, but gains the Crit modifier, [and .18 pdif on 1st hit]

But a lot of THF that I know stand by 'Evis is weaker than DE'.

my guess is that since its already stacked with SA or TA... the critical is already being forced out on DE.

but...it'd be noobie to wait on SA or TA timers.

so I really don't know. I find DE to be better than Evis too.

Turns out the truth was the mods were just so low, macroing in base stat gear(or getting an etude) didn't have an effect that proved beyond margin of error what the mods were. What was really causing the Anomalys were crits.
Pardon me if this sounds really dumb coming from a mage main, but I was under the impression WS without critical TP mods couldn't critical by default, as in without SA/TA or mighty strikes. Wouldn't said anomalys be double attacks rather than criticals?

I do believe it is an extra hit, the critical counts for boost damage without actual TP differences. Albeit much rarer I see this on my Jins.

    Jin of 14% = 893 Jin
Jin of 13% = not appeared on test.
    Jin of 12% = 560 Jin
    Jin of 11% = 430~460 Jin
    Jin of 10% = 300 Jin
    Jin of 5% = 180
    Jin of 4% = 140
    Jin of 1% = 46

    Katanas used = 2 Kororito+1
-30% delay from duel wield IV.
TP per hit 4.8? ( I think, counts Store TP+1)

Basic test was on Magmatic Eruca.

Jin of 1% coincided with my standard hit which varied between 38-50.
Jin of 4% appeared to be a single hit and might be considered the base hit.
Jin of 5% return was basically initial + duel wield hit connecting.
Jin of 10% varies. It can be higher or lower, my guess is the damage from the 3rd hit or the duel wield hit missing.
Jin of 11% the 3 hits + 1 from duel wield. Full connect. Standard.
Jin of 12% very close to the 4% added on to the 11% Jin. Double attack on Jin?
Jin of 13% 3 double attacks, one for each hit on the Jin? Critical? Not sure. Though it seems to basically go with the 140 * 6 formula + a final hit. Not sure though, might have been a critical on something.

Jin of 14% I swear I saw this once, but I have not been able to reproduce, so its thrown out. Coulda just been my imagination.

Basic conclusion: Jin extra hits count like Rampage hits, each 1% is for a double attack. Full Connect on jin is 11. Each after that = additional hit.

Base TP return for Jink is 11 since the update, but with Rajas it becomes 12.

there is a new theory out there that only the first(and off hand if your DWing) can crit, I haven't really the studies on it as I don't really play as much anymore. Extra hits are easy to tell because of tp, and since WS mods are done on lv1 animals(usually) only the first hit is really being used anyway.

I absolutly promise at least the first hit can crit on any WS it would be impossible to otherwise explain. I never exactly spammed :Ku, but considering I used Senj, had lv4 crit etc etc, it would explain why Jin consistantly crits enough to make it the best ws, because with a 5(6) hit ws you'd think I'd crit a couple times every use.

Lastly and I'm not a Thief, DE as mentioned a couple posts above mine confuses the entire issue, as it's belive 'chance to critical' ws can crit on any of the hits, making SA+DE in theory still weaker. but I could be wrong on that note

    Its the modifer rate.

Similar how to Dancing beats Evisceration. The modifers play this role in EACH hit of the WS.

Dancing maybe be less but it has 30% for each modifer and hit, Evisceration has 30% only for the single attribute. Criticalling (forced by a THF) makes this higher then before and pushes it even higher on the offchance of another critical.

Same applies to Jin and Ku. Jin has a higher critical rate, but we can't tell this easily, just assume info. However we can see modifers apply as the chief damage output.

    Ku: 10% 10%
    Jin: 30% 30%

Difference in modifers to STR DEX, 20% per hit.

    Ku x 5 = 100%
    Jin x 3 = 180%

Outright we see the big difference, even if Jin misses a hit it will still beat a full connect Ku.

Further seen by both hit modifers are the same.
Also, if you took everything into account, if Ku was raised to 20% modifers you'd beat Jin with full connect still, but it would still be close.

Modifers on the WSes ultimately determine how effective it is. Which is why Slugshot is the best ranged WS because it is 5x damage and the modifers for all ranged shots are the same. Despite what you try to see, different modifers are the key to figuring out why the best WSes are used the most, even if they aren't the final.

(For the main data on them, go here: http://www.iluvitar.com/sections/ffxi/s ... lated.html) Ku is wrong as listed, but it is old.
