Couple of PLD gear questions...

Recently i've been using my PLD a lot more often, mostly in Dynamis (kiting statues, tanking MNKs) and for stuff like KB, and every so often a Jailer or two (again kiting).

Anyway... my back pieces and earrings are seriously gimp... At the moment all I have is Knightly Mantle and High Breath Mantle, and Ethereal earring and Buckler earring. Is it worth trying to get a Resentment Cape or should I just save up for a Cerberus Mantle? Or is Gigant Mantle better than both of those? I already have around 31-36 +enmity, so is HP > Enmity around this point?

And for earrings, what should I replace the Buckler earring with when kiting? Hades(+1)? Intruder Earring? >.> Pigeon Earring +1 maybe?

Don't even think about wearing a gigant mantle. Use Cerberus, and macro in Boxers when your shadows drop. HB mantle is a good piece, other than the fact that you can't macro it off. Cerberus mantle is also a fire-resist piece for Tiamat.

Get resentment cape for Citadel Buster.

For earrings, is it possible for you to get an ethereal, or are you sticking with a different earring for a different job? I'd suggest picking at least two of the following three: Ethereal, Hades +1, Loquacious.

Loquacious would be mainly for /nin, obviously. Hades and ethereal are good in pretty much any situation. You could always macro in buckler when shadows drop or when you're /war in dynamis if you already have the earring.

High breath mantle is often underrated, while Cerberus mantle is horribly overrated. The only problem with HB is obviously that you can't take it off, but even then I would much rather have the extra HP and Enmity over an obviously e-peen item. I have never thought that gear swap for every single situation was that great of an idea, so HB has always been best for me, but out of the ones that you mention, I would say that Gigant Mantle is on par with Cerberus Mantle, neither is that great.

As for Loquacious, I can't really see a need for it on PLD/NIN. I do use it on NIN/DRK for the extra MP and because I can't take the hits that a PLD can, but the 1% fast cast isn't going to make or break anything that a PLD/NIN is doing.

For one, I already stated that HB mantle is good. Two, I clearly stated the reasoning behind Cerb mantle, and it's not epeen. Three, there's nothing wrong with gear swapping an item off if it doesn't make you blink, and 10 extra shield skill is definitely a bonus for obvious reasons. Four, fire resist (not that you can't get a good fire resist without a cerb mantle, though).

With the new rage of using 2 handers to Souleater zerg I was wondering, in a normal situation (at least for me) what would be better? Bahamuts Zaghnal or Rune Chopper
Marchx2, Haste, +11% Haste from gear (not including chopper), Haste Belt +10%, and +15% from Desperate Blows. I would mainly be using this for things like salvage chariots, places where timing Soulvoice, subbing Sam, and being completely optimal is impossible.
Obviously my gear is lacking, Dusk Gloves +3%, Blitz +1%, Dusk Feet +2%, Turban +5%, but I have no access to Homam.

LOL, I remember checking if it was full hate or not during an xp pt. I was really curious, and I really thought it might have been low hate. It was in the mire, probably after some nub let a -ga3 spell go off. The rest of the pt must have thought I was nuts, since I got the crap beaten out of me til the thing died.



1) If someone were to use a guide beret and cap themselves to level 7, could they feasibly farm beastman seals from the level 1 mobs outside town, since the person is level 7, won't gain any xp, and (as long as they cap themselves on a decent job) can 1 shot the mobs. Or, since their uncapped level is too high, will they not gain any seals.

2) Why does my laptop and my friend's laptop lag at telecrag platforms? It's not the actual crystal, since we don't lag at Xarcabard's crystal, but only when we're standing on (and facing the center of) the platform. Is there any way of fixing this short of turning down the overall graphics, since nothing else really has unexpected major lag.

What's the least annoying KS30 to get Destroyers from, and suggestions on a setup for it?

I've done Copycat with the ls I'm in and it's pretty easy. Just have a standard setup with 1-2 stuns for -ga spells and sleeps for the charmed people and it's a joke.

We went 1/5 on Destroyers and 5/5 on Fuma Sun-ate.

if my sprout ever gets on when I'm not busy sometime, I'll check this for you - I expect the answer is 'no', because you don't gain exp. in either case, it's probably easier to pick a decent melee job you aren't leveling and just keep killing yourself to hover around level 6-7. you need the sprout with you to cap down unless something has changed.

the platform graphics probably do it. (likely in combination with the telecrystal; since I doubt that Burning Circles lag you) the other solution is to get a better laptop. (or you could edit the effect yourself until it doesn't lag you but that's alot more work)

I use Warrior's Cuisses for Steel Cyclone, whether /THF /SAM or /NIN. I don't use them for Raging Rush -- here I prefer keeping on haidate. Same for with Rampage. Any WS with multi-hit I err on the side of a smidge less STR and a smidge more ACC, but to be fair I'm 4/8 Axe.

My counter question is what situation would I use Warrior's Stone? At this point its been relegated to WAR/NIN WS set only, since Warwolf is so much nicer for SC.

In essence, you are suggesting a slightly improved Blitz Ring. It's not going to make or break a PLD/NIN.

If you want to defend a Cerberus Mantle go ahead, I have no problem telling people they are wrong. It's largely an e-peen item. There are many better available back pieces.

I am not surprised that people would of course mock me for not following conventional wisdom, but the stats speak for themselves.
