If I remember correctly they stop cardians from aggro you if you hold their card. An I think a few are used in some quests.

(pre-emptive note: for those who answered my last question, thanks for the advice. Turns out my friend decided to stay after he gave me the gil, so I had to give it back. I was more glad that he was staying than annoyed about gaining/losing 900k in one hour, but that was one hell of a ride nonetheless >_> oh well, I still have my Aquilo's /sigh)

Ok, here's my question: As you can see from my sig, my /BLM is pretty badly underleveled. I do plan on finishing it off eventually (even have a gear list to 37 and all my spells bought), but it doesn't seem very important at this point, and I don't want to put my RDM main on hold to do so. At the same time, I feel like a horrendous gimp. Which brings me to my point: Am I? I've gotten pretty far on /WHM, hell I've been asked to sub /NIN more often than /BLM (no, not for XP), and yet I just feel like half a RDM without my /BLM sub. Is it acceptable to wait until 70-75 to level it, or should I just bite the bullet, put down my staves, pick up some wands and go on a pet-slaughtering spree?

People answered it already, but they answered incorrectly.

WHM and BLM subs are the two required subs for RDM regardless of which you prefer. (/DRK is required for HNMs, but not everyone does HNMs.) There are situations where /WHM is better (Toramas, yeah, I'm letting my old-school show), and there are situations where /BLM is better (crabs and beetles for the delightful aspirs). But if you do not have both of them leveled you are gimp. Soloing beastmen pets on BLM is so ridiculously easy there is no possible excuse to justify anyone not having BLM to 37-40 for sub/warp II.

Would anyone happen to have a guide or any idea where is the best place to solo at 31 bst? I tried most places and can't get solo down or xp is to low. So does anyone have any tips to go along with the spots?

But seriously, Melon Pies +1 are damn good for nuking in most situations.

Yeah, I've been using Melon +1s mainly because I can eat one and then forget about it. Cookies I have to eat every time I go to rest and then sometimes they wear right after my first tic of MP, defeating the whole point. Still, it seems like in solo situations, the extra hMP would help lower down time more than the extra INT/MP will.

Timed out with 4 last night right before we could kill bunny (our 1st attempt, working out the kinks). Maybe super BLM Kaeko will just come solo it for me. :O

X's knife is on my list after Sirico, however, I dont have time to do either right now, was looking more for temp AH dagger options.

Why can't I get assault armbands anymore? Whenever I check the NPC this happens:
