They could have been. I spent an hour and a half there and only caught two types of pugils and rock crabs. I didn't see anyone else on the beach fishing them up, and I'm pretty sure that's the only water in the zone.![]()
For my 75 THF:
+51 ACC and meat, or +11% haste and sushi?
With +51 ACC I hit around 77% on Mamools, and something like 83% on Colibri, though I am completely pulling from memory.
I'd go with 11% haste and lolsushi, as much as it hurts to lose meat's attack.
Sub 80% accuracy is pretty suck for overall damage, without mentioning its effect on WS damage and the loss of 11% haste. With an 80% hit-rate on THF/NIN you're going to have a 26% chance of landing all hits on DE/Evis (when used without SA).
I'm trying to decide whether I should sell my axes, I'm leaning towards yes, but I don't want to take that option away if there's any situation where DW Axes is better than Great Axe. It seems to me like a situation where you have to /nin anyways and thus lose the speed bonus from hasso would be a place where DW might be better than GA, however the other Wars in my shell think otherwise and I have no experience to back it up.
tl:dr, Is there any situation where DW Axes beat Great Axe?
XPing /NIN in Bhaflau, I noticed I did better with Man/Joy + Sushi than Fortitude or Rampager (still locked I think) with meat. Not the best Great Axes to test with, though, so take it with a grain of salt. I'll try it again once I unlock Rampager or get Perdu for a more definitive answer.Originally Posted by Deftscythe
I noticed the exact opposite, I parsed better with Fortitude than with Man/Ridill or Ridill/Joy. My RR average was a good bit higher than my Rampage average and I was getting about 2 per mob off with the crazy TP gain. Had porcupine pie on for both weapons, getting a madrigal (was with all 1hers so my acc wasn't bad when I did 1h weapons myself).
Edit: south Mamool camp
Probably depends on a bunch of things. I was on birds with Min x2 and March x2. My gear also keeps a bunch of acc in for WS, since I've put all purchases on hold until I finish my Ares Cuirass, so it's much more helpful for Rampage than RR/SC.
Didn't want to necro the maat cap thread.. soo..
I have heard that once you beat Maat on xxx job for your first one, when you go against THF Maat you can't steal. You have to beat him down like other jobs. Also, is this the same for WHM? Confirm/Deny? :/
The THF Maat "no steal possible" thing came from not really a credible source.. he'd rather WS in AF2 feet over pahluwan for DE, not for the Triple Attack, but for the CHR+ x.o
Hi2u Heca Feet, Pahluwan are a waste.Originally Posted by Mosh

Working on a magic defense gear set for NIN on Proto-Ultima (going for our first try on Friday, hopefully), would it be more worthwhile to focus on general Magic Damage -% and MDB, or Light Resist; mainly deciding between accessories? How critical is Kirin's Osode when deciding which one to use? (I don't have one and almost certainly won't by the end of the week)
does obi/weather effect blu magic spells for instance a water obi would help a water based magical attack IE cursed sphere?
It's double light weather in Temenos so I wouldn't bet on resisting Citadel Buster. A decent Magic Defense/Magic Damage -% build coupled with capped Shell 5 can halve your damage taken though.Originally Posted by UnwittingInsomniac

Kirin Burn Q...should MNKs still be using Asuran or would Howling Fist be better post-patch?
For my PLD, with a very minimal setup I can take my damage to near 1-1.3kish.Originally Posted by UnwittingInsomniac
A few key pieces are
Resentment cape
Coral/Mermaids rings and earrings
Those pieces alone will leave you at about 13~17% magic reduction. That, plus a fully capped shell V (plus more MDB if NIN can equip Lamian Kaman +1 as well) should keep you alive pretty easily. Since me and my cotanks are PLDs, I usually have ramparts for the first few CBs, but even with the NQ setup, I only take 1305 damage per Buster. If you're willing to put a little more money into it, you could probably get more resist in more places, but my previous LS had an Aegis, so I didn't bother too much with CB setup. In my current LS, I threw together a very minimal CB setup right before a Proto Ultima and was still taking 1119-1305 damage.
Pretty much echoing what he's saying. Resist setups are great for things like Tiamat where a non-resist is nothing more than just a pain to deal with, but a partial resist (or non-resist) on Citadel Buster or Gigaflare is going to leave you dead. You're much better off just stack -mag% gear and getting the damage down to a survivable level every time.Originally Posted by Woozie
