VIT/HP is worthless, Arhats+1 is the best -physical head.
As for rings, shits situational, I used Sattva/Mermaid, Jelly for physical macro, Mermans for magic macro, and BQ for max HP that I never bothered with.

Appreciated, thanks. I'm working on homam pieces and skadi pants now actually, but tbh I dunno if it'll ever get done.. >_>Originally Posted by Zoot

Just body.Originally Posted by Wolfknight
I've been pondering lately whether Hachiman Jinpachi is the best head piece for SAM WS.
VS shura kabuto you lose 2 STR but gain 2% DA rate on your WS and with Pole strap and Brutal earring I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the trade.
The HQ definitely is (trade 1 STR for 3% DA rate) but I don't see that in the near or distant future.
So, NQ jinpachi VS Shura Kabuto
2 STR or 2% DA
I'm leaning towards DA, thoughts?
Not a SAM, but I'd definitely go with the double attack, with the rest of that gear + WAR sub, you could double attack a WS a lot, and that will boost your damage a ton more than 2 STR will.Originally Posted by Ichikun

Edit again:
I'm an idiot.
I completely forgot that the latent for Hachiman was over 100 TP not under.
DA isn't active on WS.
I'm a moron.
Shura is better -.-;;
hmm.. acceptable to ws in brutal? yes/no
For SAM/WAR with pole/brutal total'ing at +17% i don't see DAs proc on Y/G/K much, and usually go with bushi/brutal for earrings on ws, was thinking if swapping brutal for STR earring on ws would be better, esp vampire at night.
4 str on ygk assuming 200tp and assuming 3pdif (what do 2h cap at non crit now?) is about 20-30 extra damage..Originally Posted by Saraphym
idk, brutal should be giving you DA 5% of the time, so on average you should see an extra 1 DA for every 20 ws..
unless weapon skills DA proc rate is seperate from normal hits, shouldn't it be 1 DA every 20 hits rather then 20 ws? So if I hit 20 times and ws on say the 10th hit but ws either before or after a DA, the chance to DA becomes a lot lower. Also I think because YGK is 1 hit, DA occurs less often than say during rampage, penta, or even steel cyclone. idk maybe my DA shit is broken cuz on average I see DA proc on YGK about 1/30~40 with +17%. However, when using pole in merits, I see DA proc on penta about 1/15.Originally Posted by Delekii
That's because YGK is 1 hit and penta is 5 hitOriginally Posted by Saraphym
You expect DA proc 0.17 time of the time when you do YGK
When you do Penta, You expect your DA proc .17*5 = .85 time, assuming every hit is DA'ble without limitation
Latent effect of Hachiman doesn't proc on WS, do they? Otherwise the one who documented it was wrongOriginally Posted by Velecic
Found this browsing back to find some questions I asked here. This bugs me. ToAU has been out for a year and a half now, people are still ridiculously in the dark about when/where/how to use rdm/blu and the benefits of doing so. At greater colibri camp for example, I went one party where by the time my convert was ready again, I almost always still had around 50% mp, with no resting at all.Originally Posted by ringthree
So as far as this topic has gone, it sounds like the emphasis is on xp/meritting, so saying /drk is a main priority is odd at best, though I'm sure you're thinking more chainstun than xp with that. Only xp I've done rdm/drk was in manaburn parties in mount zhaylohm, which I've given up due to the ridiculous amounts of retarded that came out of blms in it.
And because it'd be proving myself wrong to assume everyone will read this and know exactly what I mean by "the benefits of" using rdm/blu, Healing Breeze caps out at 200 hp curaga with light staff. This is for 55 mp. Comparing that to curaga it's less than the cost of curaga 1, less than half of curaga 2 which you'd need to do 200 hp curaga. However, @ 55 mp you can just as easily compare it to Cure 3. So for 9 more mp than cure 3, you get cure 3 for everyone who needs it. Or you can use Wild Carrot, which is 37 mp, which calculates to Cure 3 cost with a permanent 25%~ conserve mp + not needing 46 mp to start the casting anyway. Then there's little bonuses like Resist Sleep/Undead traits and Queasyshroom's odd ability to wipe all utsusemi shadows hit or miss, definitely useful pulling/getting agroed by mamool nin mobs.
Basically the only people on my server I've ever even heard of doing rdm/blu or whm/blu are people I've told to try it out and still just the other day I did an assault (Dracula) where someone told the rdm to sub whm "cause we might need lots of curaga" and I said "well, do you have blu sub?" He did have it, said he levelled it specifically as a rdm sub, but still had no idea why I'd think /blu for curaga.
And yes, I'm well aware of losing status removal. Not all camps need it. If you need it, by all means go /whm.
/rantoff
Interesting. I did not realize /BLU is that handy for a curing subjob. But getting BLU spells on one character has been horrific enough. ;_;Originally Posted by Alistaire
The one catch to Healing Breeze is that it's AoE, but self-target only. So you need to run up to the party in order to effectively use it. But otherwise, yeah, very MP-efficient healing subjob, albeit without the status healing that you tend to want in most situations when you're doing that.
Well, colibri would be a prime situation where you wouldn't need status clears. But if that list of Scholar magic is as hot as it looks, I think that we have a new king healing sub.Originally Posted by Isiolia

Healing Breeze
Sheep Song (to combo for auto-regen)
Wild Carrot
Pollen (to combo for resist sleep)
Cocoon
and spells that give +MP:
Digest
Blood Drain
Soporific
Queasyshroom
Death Ray
Alternatively, use spells that give +mnd. Not sure if galka/taru might need that to hit 200 from Healing Breeze.
And about the self-target, range on it is 10, so it's not all that bad. Sometimes partying with a bard I end up with melee buffs, but when I'm saving as much mp as I do with healing breeze it never bothers me.
Speaking of mp saved, I really can't see /scholar offering something comparable to Healing Breeze. No way white grimoire is gonna reduce mp cost by 50%. I can see it replacing /whm but not /blu.
real quick question, a fast response would be greatly appreciated. im about to help a friend do 6-4, and have not done the fight in a very very long time. the last time i did it playing my own character(i tanked it as nin on a friends char last year to help him get the win b/c he couldnt be on the night his static was going), was in nov. of 05 or something and was on my rng.
tonight im going samurai, which is very well equipped and has at the moment, 4 merits in GKT. we will have a ninja tank, and we will have a bard, tho most likely song choices will be mambo and march or double mambo, so nothing favoring attack or accuracy. thus my questions are twofold:
1) what should i sub? my inclination is to sub warrior is it will improve my damage output substantially, plus having seigan and third eye will allow me to tank the mammets with little difficulty i would hope. the flip side of that is that third eye is unreliable, and tanking the mammets will be my job since we do the method where the ninja gains aggro but doesn't claim any mobs so he can be healed without hate. furthermore, third eye doesn't block magic attacks, but mammets also cast -aga spells, and utsusemi doesn't do dick for those. is subbing ninja to reduce my damage taken from the mammets and the aoes of ultima and omega worth the loss of berserk and double attack?
2) what food should i opt for? sole sushi or coeurl sub? the acc gear i have for the fight is the 4dex from voyager sallet, hauby +1, life belt, rajas/snipers and peacock charm. i'll be using a soboro unless after a fight or two it becomes clear that the tp given becomes more of a hassle than the damage taken.
thanks and sorry for the long post, just didn't want to create a new thread for this!
I did this fight about a month ago as samurai, what worked for me was:Originally Posted by Martinius
1) Go /nin. No, the mammets wouldn't be hard to tank even without utsusemi, but since you'll be up close fighting Ultima/Omega, you're going to want shadows to absorb their AoE attacks they do. Going /war would probably mean taking hate from your tank; WHM cure bombing you would mean hate would be messy, and from my experience that's generally when U/O have the easiest time killing your party.
2) Hasso and all that accuracy gear you're packing is more than enough to eat meat. The gear I went in with was mostly borrowed NQ stuff and I was able to eat meat without any problems. You probably don't want to use your soboro either, both for hate management reasons and because U/O TP attacks are really, really nasty.
Basically you want to make the fight as safe as possible, rather than as fast as possible.
50 Drk leveling up now, will probably be used mostly in zerg fights. Which setup would be best with Rune Chopper?
1-Turban/Homam Body, Hands, Feet/Sable Cuisses/Swift/Blitz/BQ (+184 HP/25% haste/2.5% triple attack)
2-Turban/Gloom Breastplate/Homam Legs, Hands, Feet/Swift/BQ/Toreador (+192 HP/27% haste)
3-Turban/Gloom Breastplate/Homam Legs, Hands/Marine F Boots/Swift/Blitz/BQ (+211 HP/25% haste)
4-Chaos Burgeonet/Homam Body, Legs, Hands, Feet/Swift/Blitz/BQ (+180 HP/23% haste)
5-Something I'm not thinking of?
For reference I have all the gear above except the souleater pieces, my other slots will be filled with pole or axe grip/cassie earring/intruder or ethereal/gigant mantle/??? neck/something in ranged or ammo idk. Sorry if some of my math is off I've been up since 4am =\
I'm pretty sure the answer is 1 or 3, but which in your expierence is best? Thanks![]()
